Where do I begin? Upon arrival the lobby is dark and dingy. This should have been our clue to go somewhere else for the night but it was late. The front desk clerk barely spoke and was somewhat gruff but did his job. The elevator smelled of stale cigarette smoke. When we got to our room neither key would work which seemed to happen quite a bit from my understanding. Back down to the front desk to have new keys made. Finally in the room and we could see why it was called microtel. The room was the size of a postage stamp with barely enough room to get around the bed. Speaking of the bed, the bedspread was dirty with stains on the runner as well. The mattress was so soft and lumpy we barely slept the entire night. The walls were so thin I heard the man in the next room snoring and his vibrating alarm! The carpet was so filthy I would not walk on it without shoes. The bathroom was equally as small and had the unpleasant odor of the mildewed shower curtain. The paint was peeling off the walls and the smoke detector was hanging by wires. The heating/ac unit did not work the entire night. It may be due to the filthy filter not allowing air to transfer. The curtains were off the hooks also. The breakfast was sparse requiring us to go elsewhere. As a Wyndham owner i am appalled that this is what I have to settle for when traveling!

Run don’t walk! From sinking beds to smoky– stenched elevators, this place was so much worse than I expected!

Clean but very shabby. Ok for one night for the price. Ad says newly renovated rooms but ours definitely wasn’t. Front desk clerk was friendly & helpful.

Definitely not close to the website pictures. I like the microtel brand a lot, but this hotel falls short of their standards. Mold in the bathroom, spots in the ceilings, pealing paint, disgusting shower head(thankfully it was removable). Tube TV with cable was OK. Yea, it was inexpensive, but I’ll stay somewhere else next time.

The photos on the website are a little deceiving. But for $ 55 a night its pretty nice. I stayed here for four nights. The room I got was redone(but really small) just not with the flat panel TV or arranged as pictured. On the upside, it did have bright new paint, new tile, tub, and vent fan in the bathroom, but not a fancy hotel. The staff is very nice, and the breakfast is more expansive than other inexpensive places(has hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit salad, cereal, bagels, muffins etc etc). Nice lobby area. They were also flexible with our reservation, allow dogs(never a problem with that though– I saw dogs of all sizes, never any fur or barking anywhere and the owners were courteous to keep them away from other guests), and had a clean room with a fridge, microwave, and 27″ tube TV. They have some parking under the building, so its nice to keep your car out of the sun. Its a 3 story hotel with an elevator(not motel with external doors as most are) so it helps cut down on noise too. The windows are open-able which is super uncommon, so it was nice to have fresh air at night. There’s also a neat little chaise by the window thats nice to sit at to look out. Overall, good for the price. In a good area of Cornelius with several food places within walking distance. The room certainly wasn’t like the one pictured in the website photos, but overall nice staff, pretty clean, smelled good, and little things like a vent fan in the bathroom, under-building parking, and slightly upgraded cont. breakfast make it a pretty good deal compared to other similarly priced motels in the area.
