A food truck in Corinth! It serves only tamales, hot or mild. They require a 15 minute notice if you order hot. These are tied together in bundles of 3 individually wrapped in parchment paper. These are wetter, larger and slightly saltier than the ones at Dilworth’s The prices are about double that of Dilworth’s, at $ 6.00 a dozen, but you get twice as much tamale. The hot seems better to me. They aren’t overly hot, they didn’t even open up my sinuses. The texture of the hot was better to me as the mild seemed a little too wet. I have known the owner, Frederick(Mays), since the 1990s. He was occasionally the security/bouncer at a nightclub where I worked as the manager. He would bring tamales in for his supper and always had enough to share. You could not wish to meet nicer people than Frederick and his wife. I haven’t seen his wife in over a decade and she still remembered me recently when I visited the truck. This is a cash only business so take money! I would say I prefer these tamales over Dilworth’s simply because they aren’t as dry. But, Dilworth’s can’t be overlooked or forgotten about because they have their own uniqueness. **Update: when the mild were reheated they were better than fresh. Some of the moisture reabsorbed into the mixture and the flavors were enhanced.

Operating for years from a food truck, soon to be a trolley, located in the parking lot of Fred’s Dollar Store at Shiloh and Harper Rd in Corinth. No signage on the building marks this as a business which has grown over the years strictly on word-of-mouth advertising and the quality of their product. Tamales have been a local food tradition in Corinth since at least the late 1800’s. Local black vendors originally sold tamales on the streets and to train passengers from hand pushed carts until the late 1960’s. Frederick Mays operates and sells some of Corinth’s finest tamales from his popular food trailer parked off Harper Road in Corinth. His tamales are still string tied and prepared in parchment as most local tamales have been done for over 100 years. Tamales are available frozen for takeout to be prepared at home when a late night tamale craving takes place in addition to cooked and ready to eat with ends cut in the traditional local manner of serving. Open 10:30 am til 7:00 pm Monday-Saturday, 662−643−8114.
