This is the absolute worst interaction and experience I have ever had with a piercer! I went into Indigo 2 weeks ago to get a 16 gauge 3/8″ segment style lip ring. I spoke with the owner, Mark, and instead he gave me a nose hoop and said they were interchangeable. I bought 2 thinking they would work and after 3 days of use, the post was digging into the inside of my lip causing pain and swelling. Naturally, I took it out and put my labret stud back in. I called Indigo and spoke to Mark to see if I could return the one still sealed. He told me the jewelry was fine and it was clearly the user of jewelry. He was insanely argumentative over the phone and continued to reiterate that all jewelry is interchangeable — ‘like bullets in a gun’… He told me to come into the shop again so he could take a look at my lip and explain to me what I was doing wrong — mind you, I have had my lip pierced now for 8+ years and not once had any issues. His website boasts that he has been piercing for over a decade, but lack of piercing knowledge proves differently. I spoke with another reputable piercer for their opinion and whether or not they would have sold a nose hoop as a lip ring… Their answer was ‘absolutely not!’ When I returned to the shop to have him refund my money and check out my lip, he was too busy tattooing to speak with me. Instead, I took it up with woman that also works there. I explained the situation to her and she confirmed that a nose hoop is not to be used in place for a lip ring. She gladly refunded my money and apologized. He is clearly just out to make a dollar. I would never recommend getting tattooed, pierced, or even buying jewelry from this business.

Mark is the owner and artist, he’s really chill and cares about your tattoo as much as you do. His pricing is fair and the tattoo work is amazing. Plus hes open on Sundays– Omega Red and the other places downtown arent!

Now that I’ve actually visited the Indigo Body Art Gallery in person I wish I could give it 10 stars. Even if you are not at all interested in a tattoo it’s worth visiting just for the artwork. This is not what you picture as a typical tattoo parlour. It’s actually much more art gallery and spa-like. The walls are painted a gorgeous deep blue shade and the artwork really pops against the dark color. It’s a historic building that was renovated a few years ago and is simply gorgeous. Stop in and just check out the artwork and visit with Mark. He has great stories and plenty of philosophical ponderings to share.
