The staff at Hobby Lobby are awesome. They are so helpful and knowledgeable about their store. I’m not very crafty but I love to shop at HL for home décor. I recommend giving yourself enough time to browse the store. There is a lot to look at!

Great variety of decoration for most any holiday. I was able to go in and buy this awesome blue dresser and it happens to be half off of all furniture that day! The staff was very helpful & a young lady spent at least 5 minutes helping me pick out the perfect fabric for my new throw pillows in the living room. Overall wonderful experience.

I have never been comfortable shopping at Hobby Lobby. I’m not a crafty person, their merchandise smacks of cheap crap, and the incessant insistence on Christian everything, from music to party material to cards to stamps, etc. — makes me just a little queasy. But they’re practically the only game in town, and when I had to get the stuff to make items for fund raisers, I tried to tune out the praise muzak, get what I needed, and leave. Now, I’ll have to find another business to support these needs. Although HL has publicized their entry level wages as comparatively high, that doesn’t help when workers are still strapped for money and have to pay out of pocket for a necessary, legal, and ethical form of birth control which HLPAIDFORINTHEIRPREVIOUSHEALTHCAREPLAN! HL also makes money off the sale of Plan B and some forms of the pill, as they invest in companies that manufacture them. Until and unless they begin to treat women and reproductive rights as of equal importance to all other medical interventions, they will get none of my money, none of the money of my church, and none of the money of my family. I’m done with you.

Hobby Lobby on the Coralville strip was a handy place for me to buy things«out of the past» — like character cake pans, cake decorating items, and all sorts of decorating/craft things that are hard to find these days, since Woolworth’s is gone. So it is true that I have appreciated the stock they carry. However, as somewhat of an agnostic, I always felt a bit uncomfortable shopping there, since there was so much of a religious right feeling to the store. But I did, and tried to look past the environment. However, I can’t any more — I learned recently that they were unwilling to offer complete medical benefits to their female employees — who might need(yes, NEED) coverage for prescription contraception. I needed it a few years ago to avoid further transfusions, and while that’s not the typical purpose, it is clearly an important medical resource for women. I would urge the Hobby Lobby chain to reconsider this position, and until that happens, I will find another source(Amazon?) for these items. (I did recently relocate away from Iowa City, but my review is still relevant.)

Hobby Lobby is a surprisingly fun place that was a lot different from what I expected based on the outside! My wife constructed a number of wreaths from the supplies here and successfully decorated our house for around $ 50. Additionally, she recently purchased some lovely trinkets for a decorative centerpiece that I’ve been informed we need to have! Easy place to get in and out of that will impress you with their selection and quality.

The Hobby Lobby has a cornicopia of decoration, art, craft and useful items. From the premade to the bare materials this is the place to go if you want to decorate or have any sort of artistic endeavor. I love their Christmas displays as well!
