Boss the Pet Connection

I took my Maltese Lily to Boss the Pet Connection and she looked adorable when I picked her up, great service, very friendly and convenient location they also offer to pick her up and drop her off when I can’t take her myself, love this place and Lily does too! I highly recommend it, they even gave Lily a free studio picture after she was groomed!

The first impression of this place seemed very positive. It smelled good and appeared clean (the only reason I would give it 1 star).
I spoke to the groomer about my small breed dog, a Havanese. I went in detail about the full grooming she was about to receive (bath, haircut, nail trim, ear and sanitary area cleaning). The most important thing I went over a few times was that I only needed a trim and to only cut about ½ an inch off the long hair that my dog had. Havanese are known for their silk-​like hair and I was very happy with the overall look. The groomer assured me that she understood (she had a very pronounced accent), which after I came back to pick up my dog, I regret not trying to make sure she did understand. She was talking in Spanish to another customer, but since she spoke to me in English, I figured she understood. She mentioned her sister worked in another Boss facility and that they both had lots of experience.
To my horror, she shaved my dog’s hair to less than an inch from the skin! I was mortified and very upset. Yet, I did ask what happened, she mereły disregarded the big mistake she made and said, «oh, I thought you wanted it that short… it’ll grow back» (my dog did not have knots and had been groomed before) unbelievable! She was so nonchalant about her reckless actions. In addition, she did not trim my dog’s nails either. She was very unprofessional. I would never go back to this place or recommend it. The customer service is terrible! I can’t believe that I actually paid for this mistreatment. Never again. A general rule of thumb is if you are not happy with the service… DO NOT PAY THEM. That is rewarding bad behavior and bad staff. From other Unilocal reviews, I see that I’m not alone! Hope I can help others make a sound decision and not take them to this place.

I will not be retracting or updating my original review of my experience. My review is a result of the HORRIBLE and TRAUMATIZING experience I had after visiting your establishment last week. You sir were NOT present during my interaction with YOUR employees and therefore were only given one side of the story. I now understand their behavior since you seem to be implying that because I used a groupon worth $ 24 I should be okay with less than excellent customer service.

I was very happy with the grooming service However they always tell me to pay $ 15.00 for a flea and tick dip which does nothing for the dog. He arrives home with ticks still alive and well. It is just a way to get extra money.

Updated to 3 Stars because the owner responded immediately through Unilocal about my previous review, offering to remedy any issues I had. Like I said, the customer service is very good. Maybe they were just having an off day. I’m gonna give these guys another chance.
Great Job Enrique (owner). Responding right away shows you care and that means a great deal to me. I’ll be happy to take you up on your offer and give The Boss Pet Connection another shot.

The Boss Pet Connection has friendly staff and good prices but sadly the quality of work (for me) was not great.
I took my little 5lb tea-​cup yorkie to TBPC to get a simple grooming and hair cut. I was amazed to find that they had an immediate opening on a national holiday (MLK day) and rushed my little one down for her spa day. After spending some time answering questions about length of cut (for her hair) etc., I found the staff to be really nice and truly concerned with making sure they got things right. After a few hours I received a call to come pick her up and found that most of the questions I answered were essentially ignored and my angels hair was simply cut very short. Not a huge deal (I don’t think the dog minded) but it being cold out I was hoping they would leave her a little more fur. My concern was not the length of hair but the quality of the cut itself. Now admittedly I am not a hair dresser, so forgive me if I sound ignorant but the cut was kind of «hacky» where you could see clear chunks of hair cut out without any effort to blend the cut with her fur. Again, I’m not a stylist but having taken my dog to several groomers I can comparatively say that I have never seen a cut this poor. It just looks sloppy, kind of like I did it myself with the help of a toddler and some preschool safety scissors.
There was nothing as shocking as an injury (as reported in a previous review) but the person who cut my dogs hair today should definitely practice more or consider another profession. I came here today because my usual place (Shampoodles) was closed, but next time I’ll wait a few days and get it done right. Not really impressed and I can’t see coming back. Sorry. 2 stars.

The first time I went to Boss, I couldn’t have been happier. I was so happy, that I brought my sweet pup back there three weeks later to get groomed again before my schedule got hectic and I would not be able to bring him in for a few months. They were sweet enough to honor the discount that was given until 10, even though I got there a few minutes after 10. The lady working at the desk was pleasant as always.
When I picked my puppy up, I had to wait several minutes, which was okay. When what was described to me as the owner brought him out, his coat was extremely short with skin showing. He handed him to me, saying something to the effect of, «Don’t touch his ear, he’s fine. There’s something wrong with his coat because it’s very thin in places.» When I asked if his ear was cut, the response was, yes, but he’s fine and don’t touch it. I told him nothing was wrong with his coat, as he is monitored by a vet every two weeks for a nail issue. He shrugged and said okay, but assured me he had used a 5 guard, as was used before. I wasn’t too terribly upset and even left a tip in the jar. Again, the lady working at the desk smoothed it over, and I left irritated, but not too upset. Dogs get cut. They wiggle, and it’s no big deal. His ear was hard, like there was some sort of liquid bandage on it, but it seemed okay.
Fast forward two weeks. I was at agility class and my step-​daughter noticed something on Jax’s ear. I told her he got nicked at the groom and it was fine. Then I decided to take a look. A CHUNK of his ear was missing. The scab and any liquid bandage had fallen off, and it was healed. But a piece of his ear was no longer there. I was not a happy camper.
I called and explained what happened and that I was upset about it. I was told that the owner would be notified. When I expressed further displeasure, i was told the owner would call me. That was Tuesday. Morning. Friday when I still hadn’t heard from anyone, I called again. I still have not gotten a call back. I’m extremely upset at this point, and while I wanted this resolved quietly, I’m not too angry to stay quiet. It was a problem that this man severely cut my dog’s ear. But how they have handled (or not handled) this matter has been extremely upsetting, and I am hopeful I can prevent this from happening to someone else.
I’m still upset about my dog’s ear, but on top of that, I am dealing with a complete lack of professionalism and horrible customer service. I have never left a negative review for anyone, but if I can prevent someone else from going through this, I will be happy. I’m hopeful that the owner will call me back eventually and offer any type of resolution. But it has been 4 days since I called, and I’m not overly hopeful.

While they did a good job grooming, the customer service is lacking. They called and told me that they had to charge me an extra $ 10 for an aggression fee because my dog snapped at the groomer! REALLY??? $ 10??? For what!!! First, my dog never ever snaps at anyone, so I have to assume that if she did snap, it’s because the groomer hurt her. Secondly, how the heck do I know she snapped at anyone!!! They could call 10 customers a day with that, and make an extra $ 100! How are we to know? And seriously, what is the $ 10 for!!! How does that help? What is the $ 10 for? I am done with them!

Despite that this place is far from me (work and home location) they were offering a CoupTessa deal for a dental cleaning package which I bought for 2 of my dogs. I called a few days prior to bringing them in and the woman I spoke with was very pleasant. She did inform me that the social deals are only valid during the week, so no weekend appointments would be accepted. (Everything comes at a price!)
When I arrived, the personnel were friendly and helpful. They told me it would only take about 40 minutes, but I had to be at work so I offered to pay for boarding until I oculd pick them up which would be around lunchtime. When I picked up my pups their teeth was in top-​top shape and they didn’t charge me for any boarding, which was a plus (it was only about 2 hours). If I lived closer I’d bring my pups here no doubt.
