What incredibly pleasant experience. This place took me back to my days in Portugal. Amazing food, the service is incredibly good. The server Humberto was a class act, the attention to detail was simply incredible. I ordered the seafood soup which was made in Madeira ;-) and brought to the restaurant by magic. It was incredibly flavorful, fresh, delicately seasoned and piping hot. The kitchen is as clean as it can be the white linen in the dinning area gives it an amazing touch of elegance. I am just fascinated with the place even a complementary glass of Porto we got. What a lunch. Finally someone can prove to me that great quality matters and still exists in this city. Great job to my new favorite restaurant in town, keep it up. Next a reservation for a party of 10, the entire family is coming!

We did not intentionally follow this chef from restaurant to restaurant, but every time he left one to work for another, the previous establishment’s food quality and taste just went south, sometimes way south. We are very happy that Chef Teixeira finally has a restaurant that is worthy of his namesake. Teixeira Portugal is smallish, sort of minimalistic and cleaner(as in the design) than the places he used to work at. It’s like a breath of fresh air and it’s really less is more. There is a good size black and white picture of Porto in the dining room and interestingly, I took a picture last year at the same spot and you can have a comparison. Food wise, they are all the classic Portuguese dishes. For example the Bacalhau a bras, a finely shredded salted cod fish sautéed with egg and shoe string french fries, is done just right with the meat soft and fries crunchy. Not soggy, unlike some other places. Then you add olive oil to enhance the flavor. The Goat Stew is one of my favorite meat dishes here with big portion of tender pieces of goat meat. The meat is very tender and flavorful especially the bony pieces. The potato is lightly fried and then sautéed which has a wonderful consistency, very tasty. However, I wish sometime the meat were a bit more fatty and would give it an even better mouth feel. Honestly, I never had any bad dishes from Chef Teixeira. He sticks with the classic Portuguese dishes which he does best. We went to a high end nouveau Portuguese restaurant where every looked good but everything tasted bland. So take your pick.

My wife and I were headed to another Portuguese restaurant this weekend when we ran across Unilocal reviews which told us about Teixeira’s opening a few months ago in the Coral Gables/South Miami area, so we decided to go try it instead. We had a lot of questions and Lidia helped us out and guided us in our selections starting with the bottle of wine(we wanted to try a Portuguese wine and have no real knowledge of these) through the appetizer, entrees and dessert. Everything was scrumptious! We shared the codfish croquettes appetizer(you can see and taste the threads of codfish, it’s not all potato); seafood rice entrée and grilled octopus entrée. The seafood and the rice were firm not chewy or overcooked and as tasty as it was aromatic. I thought my wife’s grilled octopus selection was even superior to my dish. She loves that dish and found it one of the best she has ever eaten. For dessert, since we are gluttons and were already taking some of the seafood rice we were unable to finish home, we shared a coconut crème. Wonderful! The whole experience was great!

From the sangria, appetizers, main course, and desert, I have nothing negative to say. I’ve been to all the local restaurants, and this one has become one of my favorites by far. I can’t wait to go back.

The food it’s just to die for! Full of flavor! I had the bacalhau com natas and bolinhos de bacalhau! They just got brand new desserts they told me about so i decided to give them a try! I had coconut cream with vanilla icecream! I mean! Amazing!!! At the end they gave porto as a complementary drink! I was just so good like i said before full of flavor and the wine selection its pretty amazing too!

Just THEBEST Portuguese restaurant in Miami! The bacalhau com natas, is this creamy, with cheese on top Portuguese dish that only Teixeira knows how to make it! The atmosphere is wonderful and the décor is chick yet cool! Highly recommended!

This restaurant is definitely the best Portuguese restaurant in south Florida. The food is amazing, authentic and they have a variety of wines that will complete your dinning experience. Service was excellent, I personally recommend!

Teixeira is certainly –the– Portuguese restaurant to go to in South Miami now, surpassing the once-famed Old Lisbon, just around the corner. The décor may be plain, but the service is fantastic and the food is solid. Just remember: the portions are big(entrees for 2, in my opinion) and the wait for entrees can be a touch on the longer side(upwards 30 minutes in our case). — Food: 4⁄5 The chef here is great at making traditional Portuguese dishes, and our codfish entrees were very tasty. The portions are massive though, and there’s no notice of that fact on the menu, so you may want to go with a single entrée for two. Otherwise, you’ll probably be taking some home with you, but that’s probably an upside to fans of well-prepared codfish. Our appetizer was a shrimp and chorizo mix with a nice tomato-lime sauce that had a bit of cilantro and spice. No complaints on any food or drink — the white wine was delicious, and we were even treated to complimentary port wine for dessert. All that being said, there’s nothing too innovative here. Traditional dishes, with traditional taste, albeit the sauces were the chef’s own unique variations, I believe. I feel like there’s room for a little more flavor variety. Everything felt a little ‘safe’, in my opinion. — Service: 5⁄5 Great waitresses and attentive service overall. Nothing to say here — they love their food and they want you to enjoy the Portuguese dining experience to its fullest. — Décor: 3.5÷5 The simplistic appeal is there, and it’s nicely tucked away near the corner of Red Rd and Sunset Dr. I’m not a huge fan of this conservative table-setting or atmosphere, but I did enjoy the quietness and the calm. Just don’t go in expecting anything ‘chic’ or fresh in terms of ambiance. Overall: 4⁄5

It’s not incorrect to say that Chef Teixeira is THE Chef when it comes to Portuguese cuisine, as he had worked in most of the Portuguese restaurants in Miami. A few months back, when we visited his previous location, we noticed a change in the taste of the dishes, and upon asking the waiter, he confirmed our suspicious that the chef no longer worked there. We were glad indeed to chance upon his pic at this latest venture. Our first visit to this place is a surreal deja vu. Familiar faces of the the chef and the waiter. A menu that is, if not a clone, a twin of the previous restaurant. The dishes, as cooked by the same chef, look and taste same as before. Even the detail, from the dinner roll to the complimentary port, is such a comfortable routine. Which feels odd as I’m visiting a new restaurant, not a relocation of an old one! In some way I yearn for some newness, some difference, beyond the walls. I also feel that I’m not cheating by copying my review from the previous location: They offer lunch menu from Mon — Fri, which is a substantial saving over dinner and weekend when entrees run over $ 20. Portion is very generous I often have a hard time finishing it. The bacalhau a bras continues to be my favorite, finely shredded codfish, onion and shoe string sized fried potato scrambled with egg. Bacalhau a Gomes de Sa is a more healthful cousin, using boiled egg and steamed potato. Bacalhau a Moda de Braga is deep fried(though not breaded) codfish covered with onions and pickles, served with fried potatoes. Com Natas has a rich creamy sauce that is delicious but also very heavy. The Stewed Codfish rice, seafood stew, are all very good choices. They have goat stew as Friday lunch special, get it if it’s available! So delicious!

Excellent food and excellent service! Been following this chef for a few years as he moved from restaurant to restaurant. When I found out that he finally opened his own restaurant I was eager to try it! All I can say is that you have to give it a try ! You’ll fall in love with his cuisine as I did. For me it is the best chef in Miami. The«arroz de polvo» which is and octopus dish is amazingly delicious, it is a must try! my favorite Highly recommend it!!!
