Came back on a double date. The restaurant was fairly empty for a Friday night. Not sure the reason why. Service was very attentive. As soon as we sat down the napkins were changed to black for those wearing dark clothes. Food was excellent. I ordered the lasagna since I had liked it so much last time. My friend ordered the Fettucini carbonara and we went half and half. So glad I did since the Fettucini carbonara was delicious. Next time I’m having an entire plate of that for myself. I really like that the waiter speaks Italian, makes the dinning experience more authentic.

Great place for any kind of dinner. Casual and romantic. Quiet atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was delicious and the price very reasonable. Would definitely come back.

This spot is super underrated and I only attribute that to the location being on a side road, if it was on the Mile it would be packed every night. The food, wine, and service here are excellent.

I hate restaurant murals. Don’t ask me why, I just find them irksome and cheesy. Spizzigo has a very large mural of San Gimignano taking up the entire back wall. So there’s that. Beyond the painted rolling hills of Tuscany mocking you from its plaster home, Spizzigo is your typical middle of the road Italian restaurant. Undoubtedly steps above Olive Garden(although does anything really beat unlimited bread sticks?), and definitely notches above your neighborhood«Italian» restaurant… but not quite at the level of say, Scarpetta. Selling points would be the obligatory complimentary focaccia and olive oil/balsamic for dipping, which is always lovely. And also the vibe is a cool too: not too uppity and casual yet classy. The menu offers something a bit nicer than just chicken parm etc. and they have a good amount of variety ranging from pizza to seafood. I had the gnocchi in a pink sauce and had no complaints. The Gnocchi were nice and fluffy and not too dense and that sauce was very tasty. For $ 15 bucks or so for my entre, it was right in line with other restaurants in the area. I’m not all that familiar with the Coral Gables area, so I can’t say come here over some place else, or skip Spizzigo and opt for __instead, but I’d say I enjoyed and would recommend coming in for a bite.

This place was pretty good. Attentive staff, the food arrived very quickly, and tasted great. I ordered the pear stuffed ravioli; it was awesome! Their dessert menu was enticing, unfortunately they ran out of the nutella ice cream. Ordered the cheesecake, which was average to me. Overall nice experience.

Went to Spizzigo for my birthday dinner, with my wife and Mother-in-law. We were actually trying to go somewhere else, but the other place was packed. Pasquale greeted us and gave us a table in one of the back corners. That’s when my OCD started to kick in: they put two tables together that had different heights, so it was kind of weird. Then the food was OK, nothing to rave about but not horrible. I read on another review that the owner is Venezuelan, and maybe that is the reason why the food doesn’t taste truly Italian… Service was, again, average. One thing that really, truly, took away a lot from the experience: a couple of women were sitting nearby with a bunch of kids, one of them playing a video game in an iPad at a very high volume. Of course, the device from hell was making all kinds of noise while we were trying to have a decent conversation. You cannot expect to be a good spot for dinner, while allowing rambunctious children to do as they please. The nice touch: dessert on the house with a candle and Happy Birthday played by the cellist sitting near the door. Then again, I doubt I will be back…

Surprisingly delightful! Very good, fresh, home made pasta. Soup of the day is always amazing like granma’s! Love the live Cello Saturday night. Our kids love the food here too. This is our second time here and we will surely be back

My boyfriend and I tried out this place. They had a live cellist playing music which was nice. The décor made me feel like I was in Italy. Very modern. There seemed to be only 2 waiters for the entire restaurant however the restaurant wasn’t that large.. We started with the bruschetta which was great. I ordered the gnocchi with pesto. The pesto was good however the gnocchi had an overpowering taste of nutmeg. My boyfriend ordered the chicken parm which I tasted and it was good. For dessert we shared the tiramisu which was good too. I read the other reviews and we all seem to be in agreement: the food is great but the service a little slow. I’d definitely come back though.

My friend and I were browsing through coral gables finding a nice place to dine. We came across Spizzigo. We were greeted and sat immediately. It was pretty full, not so much that there was a wait time but there was a lot of people and it was almost closing time! I love the huge wall size picture of Tuscany they have. That’s the main focus of this restaurant. Makes me feel like I’m truly there. Like I traveled to Italy for an hour :) The menu is very varied, a lot of options really! From paninis to pasta, risotto, to pizza! Few options of carpaccio as well. The first thing they give you is flatbread. Complementary which is pretty awesome! Tastes great too! I was undecided on the wine so the waiter was fantastic and he brought me different types of wine to taste! I finally went with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. For dinner I ordered my usual«Penne al Pomodoro»…I can tell you which place in Miami has the best one! Lol I’m not too much into Italian food but this plate I love! Can never go wrong with it! It was very good! After having the one in Bugatti I will forever compare it. But it was pretty good! The service was great, out waiter was very good! Although I didn’t really understand half the things he said, just that he called me and my friend«bella» all the time lol!(He was Italian) but he was great! Very attentive. Overall I was very satisfied, the ambience is very relaxing. Good crowd, not noisy. It was a satisfying experience! :)

I cannot believe I had never reviewed spizzigo! its one of my go to places in the gables. their pizzas are phenomenal, my favorite being the pear, walnut, and honey(yes honey drizzled over the pizza — don’t knock it till you try it!) and my other fave is ham, mascarpone cheese, and truffle oil! the most notable pastas are the carbonara, fiocchi, and the fettuccini which is made fresh in a giant wheel of cheese, its quite a presentation to watch your pasta being tossed in the middle of the restaurant! and for dessert, nutella gelato, amazing!!! its so rich and creamy! ive heard the pther flavors are good — mango, passion fruit and coconut, but I stick to nutella which is out of this world! prices are decent and service is always nice.

Good, consistent Italian with reliable and friendly service. I usually order takeout and my order is always correct and prepared properly. If you like truffle oil the Biancaneve pizza is highly recommended.

After hearing my husband rave about this place I had high expectations. But my experience was completely different. We order the carpaccio for appetizer and it took almost 45 minutes(thank god it’s raw otherwise I can’t even imagine). For entry we had lobster ravioli and mushroom risotto not only it took for ever but when they finally brought the food to the table it was stone cold!!! Nothing to exciting and the worst service I have had in a long time, people were using the flash light on their phones to call a server. The only reason I give them 2 stars is because it was a special night and maybe that’s the reason(night under the stars) but next time they should hire extra help for special days.

I have been here about 5 times now. It kinda sucks to be putting 3-stars for them because the food is DELICIOUS! But tonight was horrible. We waited an hour and a half for our food to arrive with no refills on water. I understand Fridays are busy nights, but c’mon. set up a plan for the servers to attend to certain tables not the whole Resturaunt losing an entire table of 8… Well… Either way food finally arrived and it was good as always, but definitely won’t be going back anytime soon…

Can’t believe it’s been almost a year since we visited here and wrote a review. They haven’t dropped a stitch. Yellow tail snapper with risotto prima verra was delicious. At 10:15 the place was packed with a great buzz. Perfect combination: $$ and *****

I had the most amazing lunch here. I work right in the corner and was craving pasta. A co-worker had mentioned it to me and I hadn’t passed by yet so I decided to give it a whirl. I’m so happy that I did. The service was great and the food was exceptional!

I love this place. I am Venezuelan, and so is the owner, so I believe this is an Italian restaurant with a Venezuelan touch, which is just what I like. Their complimentary focaccia is delicious and their pizzas are amazing. However, when I go there I almost always get a pasta because I love them. I agree that service can be a little slow during busy times, but that is because Pasquale(the Italian guy) likes to personally take the orders of every table. Do not go here if you are in a rush!

Wow! This is not your typical high end restaurant in the Gables; however, the Owner’s particular attention to detail make this place all worth it. My fiancé is allergic to soy and it often makes eating out to new places nearly impossible as we always have to interrogate the chef’s and/or servers about the ingredients in their foods. The owner, Eduardo, went out of his way, even taking my fiancé to the kitchen to show him the ingredients that go into their homemade pasta! He ended up having the Fettuccine A La Ruota(basically a fettuccine alfredo without the butter, smothered in cheese, virtually tasting like a mac-and-cheese). It was outstanding and the ultimate Italian indulgence. I ordered the Papardelle pasta with mushrooms and that too was delightful! The prices are average and the atmosphere is mostly casual. I love that almost everything is homemade, like their gelatos(mango, nutella, and passionfruit are delicious!). Eduardo gave us his personal phone number to call in advance when we come again so that they kitchen would be ready to deal with the soy allergy. Couldn’t ask for more.

In the mood for a mediocre take on Italian cuisine, surrounded by people who may not know any better? And at almost unreasonably high prices, to boot? Spizzigo is one of the most disappointing Coral Gables food experiences I’ve had in recent years. Perhaps my expectations were way too high – I“m accustomed to New York and LA quality, and a reasonable price/quality ratio. This place is off the quality radar entirely – one of the dishes may have come from the freezer. In the unfortunate event that you land here, it is best to «play it simple» with a simple pizza and salad. We found the food bland and of a quality that would befit an airplane meal, or perhaps a mall food court. The wine was mediocre, too. All this at a very high price for such poor quality food! Life is hopefully long, and I will likely never go back to this place again.(Particularly as there are much better options for pizza nearby.)
