We came here for my sister in law’s birthday on a Friday night and we had a great time. We sat in the second floor and the dj was good. We danced all night until they closed! The food was fresh and delicious. I really recommend the gyozas($ 6). The cucumber mojitos($ 13) was to die for! I was very impressed. The only negative is that the service was a little slow. Drinks would take like 20 minutes. But we didn’t care because we were having a blast.

Excellent selection of sushi rolls. We ordered 7 different rolls and they were all excellent. Saturday night service 8 out of 10. We still left 20% gratuity.

Short review, did lunch with 2 friends: food=ok, price=high, service=snobby waiter. We did not consume any alcohol(unfortunately)had 3 rolls, two appys, Bill over $ 100 tip not included. I can think of few sushi places just as trendy that don’t break the bank.

When your with one of your favorite childhood cuties(Shazia K), your bound to have a good time. However, Red Koi Thai and Sushi Lounge enhanced our bubbling good time just like the name of the fish Koi they represent, which symbolizes love and affection. Red Koi is situated in the heart of Coral Gables with a cozy setting and decorative environment. We opted to sit outside since my friend wanted to enjoy the nice FL evening weather. We started the meal with two bubble teas. The bubble teas started our meal off with a good start of our bubbling good time. Hers was a lychee flavor one and mine was mango. I tried hers as well, both teas were refreshing and a good choice. For dinner I ordered the Mitchell roll which consisted of hibachi, mango etc. The roll was mediocre and lacked a bit of flavor. I also ordered a vegetarian roll which was a standard veggie roll, which my friend could try too since she doesn’t eat seafood. She ordered basil sauce vegetarian dish with rice. She ordered it spicy and it tasted really good with bold and flavorful layers of veggies and gravy. The server was excellent and gave us his recommendations along the way when we were ordering. I wasn’t impressed by the rolls but I would come back to try more of the Thai dishes.~

OMG… My wifey and I walked into The Red Toy quite off-the-cuff and almost by accident. We were actually thinking of going to Seasons 52, which we enjoy and is next door, but saw The Red Koi and were intrigued and impressed by its appearance; it looks very mysterious by night. We sat upstairs and both the service and the room were impeccable; we really enjoyed ourselves up there. For an entrèe we shared Red Koi’s, Sea Bass selection. OMG…so ‘lish and lush it was! The presentation and the flavor absolutely ‘blowed’ us away; thoroughly scrumptious! I’m drooling just writing about it. Lucky for the wifey and I to live within 3 blocks of The Red Toy. It makes for an easy return to splendor.

Very fun place to go with a group of friends, especially during Karaōke night. Order a couple of sake bombs and be ready to sing away. Good food and decent service. Parking is limited. Definitely recommend some specials as they are a bit pricey when compared to similar establishments.

We went on Jan 1st. We liked the food pretty much: we order Gyoza and a Miso soup to start, the gyoza were pretty good but the miso was ok. Then we order the Angel Hair, Ninja and Crunchy rolls(a lot of rolls!) But the rolls were amazing!!! About the service, well our waiter forget every time our drinks and he had 3 tables around us and every time he passed he said«i’ll bring the coke» and he still forgot it. Other than, i’ll recommend it and i’ll go back(but with another waiter!)

We enjoyed Red Koi! Santa brought me a Groupon for Red Koi and we dined at this chic Japanese/Thai restaurant the week between Christmas and New Years. There was seating available outside(around 7pm) but it quickly filled up after we sat down. They are on OpenTable so be sure to make a recommendation! Our server was kind, the food was great, and the decorations were pretty. The atmosphere was lively with a big crowd in the restaurant and, what seemed like, mostly dates sitting outside. Our chicken pad Thai came out first even though it was my entrée. It was very hot! You can request the spiciness on a scale of 1 – 5 and I wanted a 4. Kind of a mistake! The flavor was delicious but I got it too hot. Ashley ordered a spicy tuna roll and a volcano roll. Both equally delicious and large. We tried to get the Unilocal check in offer for the free donut, but they wouldn’t honor it because of our groupon, which I thought was kind of crappy. If you pay $ 9 for a glass of wine and $ 6 for a beer, you can throw a free donut at me. All in all, it was a good dinner. Our first meal in beautiful Coral Gables on Miracle Mile was a success!

Really good place for dinner or lunch! Rolls were amazing! We tried lobster roll, kiwi roll and Carlitos! I will recommend these! The lady who took care of us was nice! The only thing is that service was slow.

Well, they charge for the sauce which we usually do not like. The service was polite but they forgot to bring the tea. You can get a coupon if you check in at Unilocal. The food is good but not delicate for people who appreciate special surprising flavours. You will have food time so it worth the experience.

I really love this place I go here for lunch very often. I like that they are close by my job on miracle mile and that there are chairs outside and inside. I also like that is usually open very late. The food is phenomenal specially the Thai entrees which is what I usually get. The service is ok, it gets so packed that the servers get very busy and they kind of take a little long. Also something that bother me a bit is if you go on a Saturday or Friday night they turn the upstairs into a club which for most people this might be a fun thing to do but get ready to smell all the cigarette smoke if you sit outside because like 10 people at a time go out on cigarette breaks while your trying to enjoy your food. Also, I forgot to mention, they have great lunch specials and boxes which is very nice.

Been to Red Koi three times now. The first two times were a few years back so i decided I needed to come back. To start off, the service was excellent, in fact, every time I’ve gone, the service is very good. Ordered: — Shrimp pad thai: Rice noodles, stir-fried in a tangy tamarind sauce with scallions, bean sprouts & egg, served with ground peanuts on the side. This was my first experience with pad thai and it was amazing. Easily 5 out of 5. My fried ordered a pad thai and she said it was the best she’s had. Highly recommend their pad thai. –Volcano: Salmon, krab, cream cheese, topped with baked seafood dynamite & masago, with eel sauce. This roll was amazing. There is nothing fried in this one so warning for those who only eat fried sushi. The baked seafood dynamite with masago on top of the rolls was frickin amazing. I would re order this every time. — Shrimp fried rice: onions, peas, carrots, eggs, tomatoes, with your choice of protein or vegetables. We went with the shrimp fried rice. Large portion of fried rice with plenty of shrimp. We always order this because their rice is super good. — Angel Hair: Shrimp tempura, cream cheese, cucumber, masago, topped with shredded krab & crushed nuts. This roll was good but my least favorite of all the dishes ordered. I would give this one a ¾ out of 5. –Thai Donuts: These were complementary with a Unilocal check in. They were nice fluffy fried dough. Reminds me of fair funnel cakes. Overall price: value ratio is spot on here at Red Koi. Excellent food at reasonable prices. Pad thai & volcano are standouts!

–2 stars because the service lately has been horrifying!!! The first time I came here, I(miraculously) had absolutely wonderful service. The second and third and fourth time… quite the opposite. The servers kind of just disappear. Last time, we all needed water refills pretty early on but never got them after being there nearly two hours. I turned around and noticed most tables were completely empty on water too. We had to ask for forks twice, chopsticks twice, wine glasses for our wine bottle(duh) twice. Most time we needed to ask the busboy to please find us our server. We had a travelzoo voucher on the phone and our server disappeared with the phone for a good ten minutes, maybe more. Uhh!!! That’s my personal property — take it for just a minute but not for such a long time, especially we he said, «I’ll bring it right back in a second.» Ugh! Food is still excellent. Dragon rolls very tasty and delicious. But the service is SOBAD that it really really really ruins the experience. Not sure I’ll be coming back.

After having come several times, I’ve decided it’s time to review! The ambiance here is loud and fun. There’s music playing throughout and it’s a great place to come with a group. On weekends, there’s a DJ upstairs, and late into the night there is even dancing. The Bangkok Shrimp is shrimp tempura tossed in a tangy spicy sauce, served over a salad. It’s the perfect mix of spicy and sweet, making it my favorite appetizer! My roll of choice is the Caribbean roll. It has coconut shrimp, fig, asparagus, cilantro, japanese chili powder, and topped with kimchee sauce. I order a side of eel sauce to go with it. The Pad Thai here is unlike any other! Love, love, love it!!! The rice noodles are stir-fried and served in a tangy tamarind sauce with scallions, bean sprouts & egg, served with ground peanuts on the side. The tamarind sauce is what stands out for me, it’s perfect. And the peanuts give it a perfect crunch. Last but NOT least… Thai donuts, duhhhhhhhh! Who doesn’t love the delicious pillows of dough dipped in condensed milk? they’re heavenly!

I got a groupon for this place & it was delicious! We all got chicken pad thai with medium spice & it was quite spicy! If you don’t like spicy food I would get mild. The JB rolls are tempura rolls they were delicious as well. Our server was Mario. He was very attentive & friendly. I just wished he has let us use our groupon WITH the Unilocal deal for our free thai donuts we ordered Thai donuts at the end anyways. They’re kind of tiny, but it brings 6& they are so yummy! Definitely recommend eating here

I decided to use their Groupon offer since the reviews were just average. I’m glad I did. The reviews are seemingly appropriate at about the 2 and 3-star level. When I arrived, I quickly scanned the indoor and outdoor seating. Inside, there was no hint of the aromas of Thai cuisine or of the other cooked foods they offered. In fact, inside was an old smell(a deep cleaning would cure). Plus, it was too dark inside. I chose to eat on their patio instead. The décor was pleasant enough but the artificial vines on the trellises are badly in need of a deep cleaning too. Service was courteous at the outset but extremely slow. I ordered the Sashimi Mori platter($ 26). It was fair. Somehow all of the fish was devoid of flavor. It LOOKED right but there was no taste. The fish included tuna, salmon and other whitefish; none of which was particularly tasty. I also ordered another roll, which had salmon inside and outside of it. It was called the Ninja One roll($ 15). It included«krab» which is artificial crab; in other words it’s non-descript whitefish. The krab was somewhat sour and the roll was a little warmer than room temperature, which was weird; especially since it wasn’t a cooked roll. Anyway, I had to ask for the server to bring my bill even though the restaurant was pretty slow during my bisit. He was nice but slow going. With so many other great sushi options in Coral Gables, this one is not on the list for a return visit.

I go to Red Koi about once a month, mostly for sushi. Lots of very creative rolls, some very good, others okay. My favorite is the tempura lobster roll. The roll is delicious, but the best part is the martini glass of tempura lobster bits that comes with it. The sweet sauce they drizzle on it is yummy. Other solid dishes are the green papaya salad with lots of crunchy peanuts and the pad thai. I always finish with tempura cheesecake. It’s smaller than other places and not cheap($ 7.95) but I just can’t say no to it. The fried ice cream is good too. Be sure to ask for chocolate syrup, otherwise it just comes out plain with whipped cream. Service is always great. The prices are a little higher than you’d pay at similar restaurants, and they really should offer some happy hour deals.

Fun place to go with a fun group of friends. Although the food is not memorable, the second floor on a Saturday night has a DJ, and after 10 pm the«Pachanga» starts, and parishioners of all creeds dance like there is no tomorrow. Should I recommend this place? Yeah! Why not?

Yummy sushi and relaxed atmosphere. A great place to get some sushi and saki. The top level of the restaurant is more of a bar and lounge area. Patio seating in front, which is directly on the mile. I’ve always had good service here and enjoyed my meal. I would be back. The angel hair sushi roll is one of my favorites! Give it a try.
