Overall this was a great dining experience. You truly can’t beat the location — the view is unbelievable. Definitely dine outside — they have space heaters they can turn on if the wind turns chilly. The menu has nice variety, as does the wine list. We had the hamachi special for an appetizer, which was tasty. My date had the red snapper and I had the corvina special. The snapper was definitely the better dish of the two, with a fresh, citrusy seasoning and a creamy, crunchy slaw on top. It came with a bowl of yuca chips, which while tasty, were not integrated into the dish in any way so just seemed a bit strange. The corvina was seasoned and cooked nicely and served atop an herbed israeli couscous with roasted carrots. It was good but nothing special. It was a pleasant meal. Two things I would wish the restaurant would work on. One, the chairs are orange plastic and really uncomfortable. It’s weird to go to a nice restaurant and sit on what is essentially a lawn chair. Two, they serve Chilean sea bass on the menu and even tout it as a signature dish. Not cool — most places where that fish is caught do not have sustainable fisheries and restaurants with any degree of environmental consciousness just aren’t serving it anymore. I know they’re not buying it from one of the few sustainable fisheries in the world because it’s only priced at $ 42. I wish they’d change that and find a different fish for that dish.

I normally don’t write reviews about restaurant but I think people should know that this place is a joke. I’ve been here plenty of times and I have never had a problem before. The food is great and the service is outstanding but on valentines day this was not the case. To start of with, there was a tall gentleman who was at the front desk who seemed to be the manager and was beyond rude to his employees talking down to them in front of all the customers which was completely unprofessional. I work in the industry and I know how busy it can be working on such a big day like Valentine’s day but I doesn’t give a manager the right to talk down and humiliate his employee in from of his costomers. Second of all it was a prefix menu of $ 80 per person and you would think that for $ 80 you would get your money’s worth which clearly that was not the case. The appetizers were mediocre and they ran out of everything, how do you run out of food on a busy night like valentines? First of all I ordered the crab cakes and the waitress(which was amazing and if it wasn’t for her my experience would’ve been horrible) said that there was only one crab cake per order… that is false advertisement and instead I got that calamari which were very delicious. Then they ran out of the snapper which is one of my absolute favorite dishes on the menu and then to top it off they ran out of key lime pie. How do you run out of so many items when you are over charging your customers? I did my calculations and the most expensive things that were listed on the prefix menu did not even add up to $ 80 per person(including appetizer, entrée, and desert) which is a complete joke! Not to mention I waited more than 30 minuets to be seated although i had already made a reservation prior. As unfortunate as this sounds I will never return to this place again, and if you decided to come on important days such as valentines day make sure you do your research and go somehwere your getting your money’s worth and your not getting screwed(if you know what I mean) the service was great, she was very attentive and you can tell she felt bad about the whole issue and I get it I’ve been there but besides that there’s nothing good left to say.

This is one of the restaurants that I don’t like telling people about it, because I want to keep it all for myself is hiding in a park all the way to the bay the atmosphere here is romantic passive or the best place to come with your family the food is real good the view is amazin, thing at the end of your dinner you get to walk along the beach, what else can I say about it its just amazing.

Horrible set menu for Valentine’s. $ 80 per person* and they don’t even have their signature Chilean Sea Bass as an option(which is normally $ 42); but instead they offer pork chops or salmon?! Price gauging/highway robbery. *does not include tax, gratuity or alcohol.

I’ll give this restauran 2 stars because of the food, no wow factor at all, save your money go somewhere else, there is a gorgeous view of the lagoon, Beutiful location, excellent service, with a high end restaurant Valet parking should be mandatory, NOVALETPARKING, the food just don’t cut it, we spent $ 160.00 plus tip another $ 30.00 that’s $ 190, I don’t care about wasting the money as long as the food is good, not here, well good luck

If you’re someone who hates delicious food, attentive service, or dining in front of a romantic ocean view at sunset, I would not recommend Red Fish Grill. If you are looking for these things, however, Red Fish Grill can hardly be beat. From start to finish, everything about this experience was 5 stars. After booking earlier in the week on Open Table, RFG called me the day of to confirm my reservation. My date and I were warmly greeted upon our arrival, and immediately seated at a table overlooking the adjacent lagoon. Unfortunately, it was cloudy and a little brisk, but the staff was quick to turn on the space heaters and make sure we were comfortable. The service was impeccable, and I wish I could recall our server’s name to give him credit. Recognizing my date and I were not in any rush, he gave us plenty of space to talk while still being present when needed. He was friendly and engaging, and able to provide accurate and appealing recommendations; I would return to RFG purely for the stellar service. As for food… nothing I say here would do it justice. We started with ceviche as an appetizer, I had the Chilean Sea Bass for the main course(thanks to recommendations from Unilocalers like you), and we finished with the flan. If you really want to know just how delicious it is, you’ll have to go try it yourself… words fail me. As a frequent visitor to Miami, I can only hope I have more opportunities to visit Red Fish in the future. Bravo.

My second time to this amazing restaurant. I traveled all the way to Miami to have fish and seafood, and this place didn’t disappoint me. The appeitizer with Octupus was amazing, great texture and flavourful. Sea bass was excellent, moist and soft, with pack of flavour. Overall, we had great experience in this restaurant and would highly recommend others to try.

Best Calamari I’ve ever had. Very romantic, and excellent service. I recommend the Chilean Seabass and key lime pie for dessert. Only downside is there’s no bar. We arrived early to get a drink at the bar, and there isn’t one. But there is a pathway along the water with a fantastic view that we walked instead :)

Red Fish Grill is only open for dinner and it is closed on Mondays. The food and service are excellent. They serve complimentary bread which is served in a basket with seasoned olive oil … Very good. My husband ordered the Chilean Sea Bass which has a «Japanese» sake soy savor, delicious. It is served with sushi rice which was not so good but overall the dish was great. I ordered the Angus Hanger Steak and it was also very good. For dessert which had the Caramel Flan which was average. Overall, great dinner.

I really had high expectations for this place. I came here for Miami Spice hoping the food would be good, It was subpar to say the least. For the price, even discounted to the Miami spice special, was spiked for the quality of the food. The location is really nice, but I am not sure I will be back.

This restaurant gets 5 stars just on the view alone. It sits right in front of a natural lagoon which is breathtaking, especially around sunset. If you come here, you should ONLY sit outside. In my honest opinion, there’s no other reason to dine here if not for its prime location. We came as a large party(10 people) and sampled ¾ of their limited menu. For starters, we had the tuna tartare, the ceviche, crab cakes and calamari. All were tasty but the tartare was my favorite of the bunch. For entrees, I personally had bites of the steak, the chicken, the pork chops and the Chilean sea bass. The seasonings and method of preparation for each dish were precise and well done. But the star dish had to be the sea bass. It had a slightly crispy crust and the flesh was silky and tender. The slightly sweet and salty sauce was magnificent. It lay on a bed of just-wilted spinach. It was like heaven on a plate. For dessert the table ordered each of the three offerings to share — warm chocolate brownie, flan and the key lime pie. The key lime quite possibly is the best I’ve eaten. The flan was rich and creamy and my kids adored the chocolate brownie. But, like I said, it’s the view and location that put this restaurant into the 5-star hemisphere. The good was good but not better than other fancy(read: pricey) restaurants. That being said, it is definitely a place to take someone(s) that you love if you want to impress them.

Came here recently & I have to say, the service is phenomenal. Probably the best service I’ve had in a long time. The place is beautiful, especially the outdoor seating, & it is quiet & very romantic. The food is excellent & very fresh. I do wish this restaurant had more drink options, considering they only have a wine menu because of where they are located, bur other than that, I would definitely recommend it.

What a pleasure! I was taken to Red Fish Grill for my 23rd birthday. The ambiance was amazing, I literally felt like I was out in the Keys or in a different country. So calming and peaceful. Definitely order the sea bass, you won’t regret it. Perfectly seasoned, with an Asian flare. My boyfriend ordered the snapper and wasn’t too impressed with it, neither was I. For the price, I definitely would’ve liked his meal to be just as enjoyable as mine. Awesome location — I highly recommend it.

On the advice of a friend, I was recommended to try Red Fish Grill. It’s pricey, even by South Florida standards, so I had to have a special occasion to pair it with. My wife’s birthday was coming up, so I decided it’d be a nice splurge in celebration! The drive to the restaurant takes you past some of the nicest parts of South Miami. The chaos of Dadeland and congestion of US1 melts away as you make your way onto Old Cutler and drive past sprawling mansions, 100k cars and roads darkened by a post-Andrew regrown banyan tree canopy. You make your way into a public park and drive past mangroves until you see the glorious vista of Biscayne Bay. It’s suddenly kite surfers and a nice breeze, and a charming sea-fed lagoon right by the restaurant. Truly romantic and secluded, especially around sunset. There are some beach-going people as you might expect, but they’re not permitted to dine in the restaurant without wearing appropriate attire. We arrived promptly at 6:30 to an empty restaurant that was filling up quickly, even on a random Wednesday in July(low season around here). The first thing you notice is that it’s a short menu, maybe 6 appetizers and 10 entrees. There’s an extensive wine selection, my wife and I are expecting a baby, so just iced tea for us these days. We selected crab cakes as our appetizer. They arrived promptly… to be honest, they’re good and tasty, but Joe’s Stone does ‘em better, and at a fairer price to food ratio. Onto the entrée course, my wife selected a bouillabasie which she really enjoyed. It’s mussels, scallops and a giant shrimp in the middle of a flavorful seafood soup. It was a delicious broth, and the scallops especially melt in your mouth. I ordered the Chilean Seabass, seriously one of the best pieces of fish I’ve ever eaten… really delicious, served with jasmine rice on a bed of spinach soaked in a nice asian-mirin dressing. Well worth the experience for that seabass! I had advised the restaurant it was my wife’s birthday and she was carrying with our first, the staff informed me they don’t sing happy birthday, but recognize the request of course. As such, a knock-out-amazing salted caramel brownie was brought to our table on a side of homemade whipped cream with a single lit candle, a nice touch since I didn’t have to specifically order it… I wanted to try their key lime pie, but that’ll have to be next time. Red Fish Grill is a really delicious treat of a restaurant, secluded and out of the way of Miami. It’s not cheap, we’re talking $ 70 – 100 per person, without liquor — but you know those times when that’s merited. There’s definitely a crowd of regulars here… they’re Waspy«My-Am-Uh» old school wealthy diners, giant pearls and diamonds on the women, old men driving huge 600 series Mercedes… in other words, «a cheap night out» for their ilk. Next time you’re celebrating a birthday, anniversary or graduation, try it — it’s excellent.

Reservation was for 8pm. We arrived promptly. Asked to wait 10 minutes while table was being set. Was seated, and 25 minutes later, no acknowledfment, no water, no hey, I’ll be right there. We elected to depart and talked to an apologetic manager. It’s a historic spot with great outdoor seating especially during sunset when the view of biscayne bay becomes stunning. But if you’re going to spend ~$ 60-$ 80 per person waiting unacknowledged for 35 minutes is unacceptable. If you want to share a special romantical spot with someone you care for deeply, avoid this fish out of water cause their service stinks.

I won’t give this place 5 stars because to be quite honest my dish wasn’t something out of this world. Everything else was 5 stars. This is the place to go when you are feeling romantic or whenever you want to forget you are in Miami, you will feel like you are on vacation in the caribean. Plan your visit so you can watch the sunset and ask to be seated outside, the view is incredible. The wine list was good and our server was very nice, he even allowed us to try a sample before opening the bottle. If you go, you MUST have the calamari and the chocolate cake.

The drive here was the highlight Beautiful banian trees Food is good not incredible The setting is nice but for the prices I really don’t want to sit on a plastic chair The waiter seemed nice but young and inexperienced, again for these prices. Then the waiter starts clearing the dishes before two people had finished eating Further he walks over and instead of asking if everything is satisfactory he says«I take it everything is delicious» Well, what if it’s not. Maybe I am picky but he also left on the chilli oil on the tuna even when he specifically mentioned that it could be omitted to keep less spicey Overall for this price I can go to a high end steakhouse which I will gladly do next time and suggest everyone who is not«old ma-am-uh» go to, for a $ 300 dinner

Just getting to the Red Fish Grill is an enchanting journey, especially if it’s date night or a courting destination. You travel down Old Cutler Road, lined with banyan trees, and alongside the mansions of former dictators, CEOs, basketball royalty, and«old Mia-mah money», then turn into the Mattheson Hammocks tropical park and proceed towards Biscayne Bay within the lush flora before reaching a coral rock eatery overlooking a lagoon and the Bay. The Staff are friendly and committed to serving up a stellar dining experience. We ordered: Tuna Tartare for starters, pan fried Red Snapper, the Mahi the Mahi, and we shared key lime pie and the caramel flan. For libations: we started with glasses of Prosecco and then Chauvignon Blanc. All: yummy and succulent. This is NOT a break-up restaurant, or a spot to conduct serious business — too many natural distractions(stars, moon, bay, and all those hurricane torch lights). Probably not the best«first date» choice, as it would be hard to top for future dates. Definitely a great locale to amp up the relationship a notch, or to propose, or seduce, or to just partake in the exquisite culinary delights and dreamy scenery.

Wow is all I can say! The restaurant is located inside of Matheson Hammock Park and the drive really sets the tone. Coming here is like a mini vacation, as it feels removed and secluded from the rest of Miami. Ok on to the good stuff. The food was delish! We came on the last weekend of Miami Spice and the spice menu had some great options. Some spice menus are good but they up sell you on a bunch of extras, no need here. I had the kale salad with beets, I wish it would have had more beets but it was still very good. Hubby had the oysters and he loved them. While the apps were good, the main dish is what set this place apart. We actually both ordered the same thing, which we never do, because our server said we wouldn’t want to share. He was definitely right. We had the blackened grouper, over a sweet potato purée with crunchy kale in the middle. The sauce was decadent and rich with bourbon and I believe bacon. This is one of the meals that my mouth salivates just thinking about it. For desert we had the key lime pie, perfect balance of sweet and tart. The crust had crushed almonds, giving it great texture. I really loved the attention to detail with each of the dishes and the portions were huge. Our server Aaron couldn’t have been more accommodating and made great recommendations. The only down side was the mosquitoes, which unfortunately is just something that comes with the great location. Aaron did bring out mosquito spray, but bug spray and a nice meal didn’t mix well to me, so we moved inside. I’m not sure I would sit outside again around sunset but inside still has a beautiful view.

Simply wonderful. That’s what describes my experience last night. The outside dining area is simple and beautiful. The weather was perfect! The service was great! There was always someone willing to help you in any way. The menu is short and sweet– as it should be. They are experts in everything that they do. I had the mahi mahi which was so delicious! I’ll also recommend the mussels, a great appetizer to start off with. Will definitely come back!
