Shocking! First of all the staff(one being the owner) was rude and completely not helpful. He could care less if we gave him business. They were out of the first 4 things I tried to order. They had pizza just laying on the top shelf with the line of guests just coughing and sneezing on top of it. Which really didn’t matter as I saw a couple staff wipe their nose and serve pizza. One guy did wave his hands under water for .6 secs with no soap so I’m sure that cleaned them(note sarcasm). Then is saw them sit a pizza on top of another to serve slices and afterwards they served that pizza to other guests. I looked around it the place was an absolute mess and dirty. I mean gross dirty. Then after waiting on our order we didn’t receive two of the pepperoni slices we had ordered. He said that we didn’t order it. We did but because we couldn’t find the receipt it was word against word and he charged us again. I will NEVER return to this rude place with pizza not even as good as frozen pizza from the gas station. Just dreadful.

Went here after our games at Cooperstown. My 2 boys loved the cheese pizza(huge pieces) and garlic rolls. Had a great selection of drinks. Great prices. I didn’t want pizza and was uncertain what I wanted. Cashier didn’t have lots of patience with my questions… And it wasn’t busy behind me. I decided on Chicken Parm and he said it would take 15 min cuz he had to cook it(seemed put out)… I was totally fine with that — FRESH! It came in about 20 min and was sooo good! It was huge portion of chicken parm and spaghetti on the side! It was delicious. And I know that because my boys helped me finish it.

A mediocre pizzaria that caters to large groups of tourists, particularly kids, who appear to enjoy it immensely. If you want a real pizza, go to Bocca. ..

Worth the attitude! My husband and I visited the hall of fame and afterrwards went to Sal’s for pizza. When I walked in he didn’t take my order right away and I was the only customer waiting. He was to busy doing something else. When he did take my order it looked like he has seen better days. He was very grouchy, «Cheer up Charlie». In all fairness though I have to say the pizza was pretty good and we did enjoy it.

Pretty good slice of pizza, pretty pricey, but location location location! About a block from the baseball hall of fame. The staff wasn’t too enthusiastic but it’s mid April and he was probably bored as we were the only few in the place

I should always check a bathroom before I order… if they can’t keep a bathroom clean I wonder what the kitchen looks like!!! Was so tired from long drive and equally long time standing with a crazy baseball fiend that all I wanted to do was sit and eat. Went to go wash my hands after ordering and paying and was so disgusted with the ladies bathroom. I have a broken foot but due to the condition of floor I put down toilet paper on everything from the floor to rest my cast on to putting it on seat. Once I cleaned up my debris I approached the sink to see the TOILETBRUSH sitting in the sink!!! I was so grossed out that I went into the men’s room to wash my hands. I though I would be not so obvious so I said softly to the young man at front and he had the audacity to roll his eyes at me. I watched for him and it took him 10 min to go pick it out of sink. Oh and the food tasted like it was cooked yesterday. Don’t think this was a bad day for them. Need to get your act together or you will be «OUT» of business.

Pizza was good but lacked sauce. I came on Unilocal to see if it was me regarding customer service. Thank God I am not paranoid. Frick and frack need a serious beat down. Which one gets it first is the question? Probably the one with the comical hair plugs. Dude you’re bald. Maybe that is why he is miserable. Maybe the second guy who looks like his baby brother is jealous of the hair plugs and this is his excuse of his miserable disposition? Place is sticky and a little dirty-btw I was here in November so there were no crowds. Can only imagine what these tool bags are like in July and what the floors and outdated tables and chairs are like… do yourself a favor and go to the Price Chopper down the street and get yourself some Ellios…

Checked out this place during Baseball HOF weekend trip… so good we went back twice! I know we were not in NYC, but their slices are exactly what I’d expect from any quality pizza shop in the city. The crust was spot-on floppy and crispy cooked in those large industrial pizza ovens. Sauce had a great compliment between a slight sweetness but moreso a tangy /zesty component that worked really well together. The cheese was drippy and gooey making for a perfect slice. I also had a side salad which had a nice compliment of assorted veggies and came with a house-made Italian dressing. Nothing fancy here, just rock solid ‘za. Would definitely return.

It’s a pizza place. It’s in a very crowded location. So the reviews complaining about having to make room for their group are ridiculous. Yes, you probably have to clear a table. Yes, you probably have to order up front. No big deal. The food was great and the prices were reasonable. Everyone in our large group loved the food. The favorite was the pasta with clams. I had pizza and enjoyed it. I plan to go back before I leave town.

AWFUL! AWFUL! AWFUL!!! We went there because so many people recommend it. After experiencing it first hand I am SURE they must have been talking about another restaurant! To start I cleaned off the tables before our group could sit. Then after waiting for 20 minutes I had to go get a waitress to come take our order. We waited for another 20 minutes before I walked in to see where our drinks were only to find out they had not even started to make them. I got the drinks together(making 3 separate trips) took all the drinks out to our table. On my way back and forth I was approached by nemerous other guest asking if I could help them! I’m sure you could imagine their faces when I told them I didn’t work there. Finally after one hour and everyone around us getting their food our food finally arrived! It was some of the worst food ever! Most of the kids didn’t even eat at all! Now when you can’t get a hungry 12 year old to eat pizza… well what else need be said! Finally it was time to pay the bill. After waiting forever the checks were wrong and to top it off 15% tip was added! Seriously! Where was my tip?!? Don’t waste you time or money on this place!

Personally, I think Sal’s pizza is fantastic, and that is only what this review is judging them on. I ALWAYS get to-go orders in the decade I have been going to Sal’s, because the indoor seating area is sometimes a little stuffy for me. Don’t really mind though, because their pizza is great.

The mozzarella sticks were a great way to start the meal and the garlic knots were freshly baked(nice and hot). Whole pizzas were tasty(thin crust), by the slice was also an option. If you feel like pasta the linguine with clam sauce was delicious. This place serves cold beer by the pitcher, always a plus.

I had to bus the tables from the people before just to make room for our group. The owner was rude and did not even acknowledge the fact that they didn’t know what they are doing. Was rude when I asked for a to go box. Was there for 2 hours and the server did not even come to our section. It was all serve yourself and deal with a rude person in the process. He does not want repeat business.

Not great pizza, mediocre at best. And the workers there were not super friendly or welcoming at all. It wasn’t crowded when we got there, and we asked about the calzones if we could get one made, and they just pointed at the ones already premade that have been sitting there for hours. We ordered a pizza to share, and it was just your average chain pizza taste and nothing special or flavorful at all, and tons of grease. It looks like a possible good place to bring a large group like a little league team after a game where the kids might not care about quality. me personally, I would seek out a different place in search of better pizza and better selection of craft beer.

At a glance it looks like a nice quick place to grab a good piece of pizza… however with closer inspection you’ll find that it’s not worth the hassle. The two guys working there look and act like the bad guys from Goonies! They act like they are pissed off that you even bothered to walk in and make them work. I think it’s perhaps because there isn’t any AC so everyone is sweating their balls off. And there is no soap in the dispenser… which means nobody’s washing their hands… I found that out after eating… I asked one of the guys for a spoon to feed my one year old son, and he was obviously upset I interrupted him refilling his own soda… The other man asked me as he walked by if it was for here or to go. I hesitated to answer him because I thought he was talking to the table right next to him(since he said it in passing) and he started pretending to be me in a one person conversation to himself… They were very rude and the facility was gross. Warning to parents braving to bring children to this place… there is no changing station on the bathrooms.

Great hot subs. Best rolls we’ve ever had. Wife had the eggplant parm, I had the meatball. They were ginormous! ½ for lunch, ½ to take home for dinner. Highly recommended.

Sal’s is classic pizza-by-the-slice, New York style. Thank means it’s basically the most delicious thing that exists. During my stay in Cooperstown, I found myself coming back here day after day. If I lived in Cooperstown(or nearby), the would definitely be one of my regular spots. I tried the lasagna pizza on my first visit, which is piled high with meaty toppings. Recommended for all the carnivores out there. But the clear-cut winner for me was their spinach pizza. Cheese, tomato, more cheese and spinach, all melted together on top of a garlic butter crust. I could seriously eat this for every meal for the rest of my life and be happy. And for some-odd-reason, the Yuengling on tap here just tastes better than any where else in the world. Get yourself to Sal’s already!

This place had good pizza that was a nice lunch after visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame. Good sized slices that give you a good taste of New York for those of is that haven’t made it to NYC. Cooperstown isn’t huge but this is a good choice for a quick lunch.

After a few hours in the museum, with a task master who insisted that we eat quick and get on the road, Sal’s was a quick stop on main street for reheated slices. I got a slice of the Hawaiian(ham, pineapple, and pepperoni), and a slice of the white pizza(spinach, tomatoes, and ricotta, no sauce). You stand in line to order at the counter, and then they’ll bring you the slices. Or if the line is as long as it was for us, the slices were pretty much ready by the time we got through the line, got our drinks(fountain and bottled), and paid. They’ve got a covered back porch, which we preferred to the stuffiness of the inside that was packed with little league teams. The red pepper flakes and parmesan cheese get doled out to the tables pretty quickly, so you’ll probably have to ask around to borrow from another table. The pizza was decent, though not terribly flavorful. In that regard, I preferred the Hawaiian with plenty of red pepper flakes. The white pizza toppings were in blobs, so you’d get a mouthful of spinach or ricotta, but not both… and you could tell that it was frozen spinach with every bite. I did see others with salads, so I guess they took the time to read the menu that is above the door. I was too distracted by the pies that were hanging out waiting to be reheated.
