Cooperstown Stay

We recently rented a house through Cooperstown Stay. The accommodations were ok and the staff was very helpful during booking the property. The day we left the property the home owner was on site. After doing a walk through he told us everything looked great and we would receive our $ 300 security deposit in a few weeks. After a month and no deposit I called the owner. After 2 weeks and countless message he finally answered my call. He said we had left trash all over the property and we would not be receiving our security deposit back. When I told him I thought he was mistaken and possibly thinking of another group because he was on site the day we checked out he told me everything was fine and he would have our deposit to us within 2 weeks. He said he would have to check his paperwork and call me back. 2 more weeks have passed now and at least 20 messages with no return call so I thought I would try to call Cooperstown Stay. To my surprise the very nice lady that had assisted me in booking was not so nice now. She was NO help at all and basically told me it was my word aginst the home owners. The name of the property was Creek Island and the owner is Mile Baker. I only wish I would have checked Unilocal prior to renting this property or using this management company! Maybe if a would have seen the other complaints about problems collecting security deposit I would have gone else where. I will be filling a formal complaint with the better business Bureau and I hope that will keep him from cheating other honest people out of their money!

I am currently booking a 4^th trip for the Cooperstown Dreams Park tournament for next summer (2015). My family has used Cooperstown Stay in 2007, 2009, 2012 and soon for 2015 and will use again for another trip in 2016. I have had no problem whatsoever with bookings and/​or retrieving security deposits. Both places we have stayed at were clean and convenient for our activities. This year, both Lonetta and Genie (sp?)have gone above and beyond with helping me with our rental for next summer! I have given their information to numerous families over the years with wonderful results all around!

If you are traveling from another state, especially one across the country from NY, be aware that the Cooperstown Stay owner will not provide any help in getting your security deposit back if it is wrongly taken by an owner of a property.
