Who designed this thing? It’s like 80% parking lot with a scattering of stores on the perimeter and a few tangles of road that meander in the general direction of whatever store it is you’re attempting to get to. It’s a joke, right? Someone has to be laughing at us over this.

Open air concept but most of the buildings are not within walking distance of each other which means you are more likely to go to a single store or two instead of a long day of shopping. We tend to go to the same stores instead of the browsing shopping encouraged by Arbor Lakes.

Oh Riverdale — I have such a love hate relationship with you. Here is the Love: So many lovely stores. Everything you could possibly want and then some. Plenty of restaurants to fill the belly with delicious bites or drinks, pre or post shopping noms are never far away. They have department stores like Kohl’s and DSW and Ulta along with little stores like Game Stop and Kay’s Jewelers and Party City. Here is the Hate: Its always busy, always, so don’t be afraid to just park far away and walk to the stores. A little walking never hurt anyone any way. Also, the roads are such a hot mess, its almost like they intentionally curved them around and made them go seemingly nowhere but directly to another store. In fact, now that I write that, it is probably exactly what they did! Sneaky little buggers. If you don’t frequent the area you will likely get turned around/lost trying to get to any particular store from another. My best advice, find a main road and then find the store you want. Even the signs are deceiving. Coon Rapids is a great location for an open-air mall such as this, just off Highway 10 and Round Lake Blvd. Its a stones throw from Highway 169, 610, 252, all the major highways in the north. There is also the Northstar Corridor Light Rail stop that goes directly to downtown Minneapolis. Overall, while I don’t really enjoy the commotion of actually going to Riverdale, the stores they offer and the services they provide are worth the stress of the roads and business. I just don’t go there every week.

It isn’t as easy to walk as Arbor Lakes or Woodbury Lakes, but it is a decent place to shop and is closer than the outlet and nicer than Northtown mall.

Riverdale is a big open-air mall similar to Arbor Lakes. They have many department stores such as Sears, JC Penney, Kohls, Jo-Ann Fabric, DSW, Pier 1, standard mall stores such as old navy, maurices, foot locker, motherhood maternity, justice, hallmark, deb, book store, jewelry store, best buy, phone stores, and so many places to eat though mostly chains like tgi, noodle and company, chipotle, dq, boston’s, ihop, and others. Although they dont have that many standard clothing stores, this shopping mall is still worth a visit if you are in the area, and this place is definitely a whole lot better than Northtown not so far away.
