Well, time and poor food and service took its toll here. They closed the doors on 9÷1÷15 for good.

Friday night and under new management so we went to check it out again. We won’t be back. The service was slow, the food wasn’t that good, and the atmosphere felt weird. Maybe it was partially due to the«diner» plates that were being used. They seemed more at home in a Waffle House. Go to Umami or Fugi if you’re in Conway.

Good sushi. Mediocre service. They did a great job remodeling the place. The environment was very enjoyable and is a huge step up from Fuji’s across town. The dragon roll was tasty as was the spicy tuna. Miso soup was so-so.

Hmmm… how should I start? We are new to Conway and have been on the hunt for a GREAT Asian restaurant… Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Korean… any or either. We were hopeful… but without any disrespect, I will have to say it was a wee-bit disappointing. We started off with the fried calamari appetizer… how could they go wrong? Well… :\…they could go wrong by using a breaded batter that one might use for southern eats, such as hush puppies or the like. What about the traditional tempura batter? To top it off, it was paired with tonkatsu sauce??? It was a strange combination. It wasn’t bad tasting, but let’s put it this way, it was«unexpected.» You go to a Japanese restaurant and you expect Japanese prepared foods. It was like taking a sip of a drink thinking it’s Coke and it’s iced tea. Wuhn-wuh…get what I mean? Hubby was bold and ordered sushi. He still played it kind of safe — spicy tuna and crunch roll. The sushi rice was very mushy, and the taste was pretty flat. I mean how can you go wrong with spicy tuna? He was pretty disappointed. I played it safe and ordered the sukiyaki steak bento box. It was served with gyoza(which was just okay), rice, California roll, and some mystery sauce. My sister also ordered a bento box. Neither of us could figure out what the sauce was for. That being said, it was tasty :] The California rolls were ok. The wasabi — on the other hand — nearly knocked my shoes off. It was the most potent I’ve had in a long, long time. It was so strong that I was fanning my face and mouth — to no avail… cuz you know, that really does nothing for you. I would have to say that the best thing I had was the ginger salad dressing. :} We MIGHT try this again if we are ever in the mood for the All-American-you’re-only-paying-for-show-hibachi-experience. I don’t know tho. It’s supposed to be a Japanese steakhouse, and they offered fried rice. But I guess Benihana does that also. Our search continues…

My friend and I were the first people there on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated at a table that had not been cleaned thoroughly. Even after they wiped the table down a second time, I still found a hair on it. The food was mediocre. The rice, which is usually my favorite part was sticky and dry. The steak was dry.(I ordered steak & chicken hibachi). I will stick with Fuji and Umami from now on.
