On a snowy night this was the perfect spot for an intimate romantic dinner. The place really made you feel like you were out in the French countryside. Due to the weather only a few other people were present. We were seated in a cozy candlelit cubby with a view of the snow falling outside. The service was outstanding, friendly and informative. Each dish was carefully explained. This is a BYOB so bring some good French wines to pair with your meal. I had the escargots which were served with garlic butter and leaks. My wife and I shared the charcuterie board with crusty French bread to spread the assortment of pâté and rillettes. The chicken cassoulet was hands down the best chicken I have ever had, extremely crisp on the outside moist and juicy on the inside. My wife’s Pot au Feu had fall apart tender beef short ribs with perfectly cooked root vegetables. A creamed kale side was an excellent way to serve this vegetable. Even though we were stuffed by the generous portions we made room for the Daffodil Cake, it was so light angel food cake filled with a citrus cream and toasted coconut. We left happy. Can not wait for another romantic night to enjoy a taste of France without the airfare.

I have loved this place for years! It is delicious, well-prepared, un-fussy French cuisine. Food is very tasty without being over-done and over-sauced. The atmosphere is simple and warm. It is calm and quiet(unlike a lot of the«hip» Center City restaurants). It is a go-to for holiday luncheons for my staff and a great place to keep in touch with special friends.

The atmosphere is very adorable and great for a date. The servers we’re very friendly and attentive. The food was slightly disappointing here. My date and I split a cheese plate, which was wonderful. But the main plates were disappointing. I had the rack of lamb; the lamb was cooked well but the sauce was watery and a bit flavorless and some of the vegetables were undercooked. My date had the rabbit dish; the rabbit was cooked well but again the sauce was a bit watery. The mustard wine sauce on his rabbit was more flavorful, but still subtle. For dessert we had the daffodil cake. It was pretty good, a simple angle food cake with a whipped icing that had a pleasant, subtle lime flavor. Out of everything we had I’d only get the cheesecake and possibly the daffodil cake again.

The Spring Mill Café was the perfect venue for a cozy, delicious, and enjoyable post-Holiday Sunday brunch with my family & one of my cousins. The interior of the main space is rustic, homey, and elegant, which was a nice setting to catch up with my cousin. The BYO aspect is great, too! I ordered the Winter Kale Salad to start, and then the Omelet Du Jour(with spicy lamb sausage and gruyère.) Both were really delicious, fresh, and packed with flavor. The salad was a light and refreshing start to the salad(although I don’t think the greens were actually kale, looked more like spinach/arugula — not an issue, though — still delicious.) The omelet was really delicious — the lamb sausage was a phenomenal touch. Overall, our experience was perfect. Our server and the entire service team was attentive, extremely friendly, and all around very nice.

Delightfully charming little spot — we came for dessert and coffee(plus BYOB prosecco). Delicious fruit and nut tart, well executed crème brûlée, romantic atmosphere, and excellent service!

Love Spring Mill as our go-to special Occasion or fall in on an off weeknight place. Always spectacular French with some Asian fusion dishes to try. Always very special service and ambiance. Hosted memorable events here including my wedding for 75 people! The owner and floral designer/server made everything spectacular. BYO-no corkage fee-can’t beat it!

We had a brunch for my wife’s 60th at the Spring Mill Café about a month ago. We’ve always liked their quiet country setting, and we were vacillating between renting the barn for 12+ or being in the dining room, mostly because our guest list fluctuated between 10 – 14. We eventually had 10 confirmed, so we went for the dining room. Day of, we had 2 more people join us, which made for a cozy squeeze in the side room where they had us set up. The servers were very accommodating, and things went off without a hitch. Every course was great, starting with the butternut squash soup, which had a dollop of sweet lump crab meat in the center. Our diners had a mix of breakfast meals and lunch meals, but there was unanimous kudos all around, especially the omelets, which were light, fluffy and tender with just the right amount of filling. Ezra had a chocolate cake baked for us, which my wife swears was one of the best she’s ever had. I can’t disagree with her, it was moist without being too wet, dense without being heavy, icing was creamy without being oily or greasy. Wonderful flavors came through without any negatives to distract, if that makes any sense. Service was great, very friendly, never rushed. Dining room was quiet, conducive to adult conversation. All in all, one of our go-to places.

I recently had brunch here on the weekend of the Papal visit. I brought my sister who is from out of town, and she was stunned that this French BYOB in a beautiful little farmhouse was just a few minutes from the Philadelphia city limit. We shared a gorgeous fruit and cheese plate that was a perfect companion to the white Bordeaux we brought with us. She had the chicken confit salad, so moist with a crispy skin; and I had the lightest, fluffiest omelet(with gravlax and crème fraîche) this side of Paris. A strong shot of espresso and we were off to see the Pope. The service was friendly and attentive. We will return soon for dinner and dessert!

My friend and I recently threw a baby shower for a small size party(sixteen adults and two children). Our party was located in the cottage next to the main restaurant. The setting was very French Country, private, and quaint. The venue provided entensive natural lighting, was equipped with a small kitchen as well as private bathroom. The staff were excellent and well attentative. The staff and owner were very flexible with last minute guest count changes. All in all, we couldn’t have asked for a better venue to throw a an intimate baby shower. The owner was very accessible and easy to work with in creating the perfect menu for our vegeterian mother-to-be. The guests left happy and very full. I would definitely utilize the Spring Mill Café for future gatherings.

Was very excited to try this restaurant. It has a really great rustic, cozy vibe. And when we arrived, we were greeted promptly and given a great corner table on the porch. Our waiter gave us the rundown on the few additions to the menu and gave us adequate time to make our selections. We started with the escargot, the soup of the day(white bean), and the crab special. We didn’t have to wait too long for the food, but this is where the disappointment and the 3-star rating starts. The food was very flavorless. While not bad tasting, it really did not have any flavor at all. The bean soup had ham in it that had absolutely no flavor and the crab special was nothing more than crab meat over a few leaves of lettuce and some slices of tomato. Again — not bad tasting, but no French influence(this is a French restaurant) and we actually had to add salt to the dishes for some flavor. When our entrees arrived we were somewhat hesitant. But they were actually much better than the appetizers. We had the rabbit and the scallop entrees. Neither were spectacular, but the flavors were good and didn’t need a lot of additional flavoring. Throughout the meal, our bread plates sat completely empty. Near the end of the meal, I asked our server if we were supposed to have bread at some point. He apologized and indicated«they» should have brought us some. For desert, we tried their popular daffodil cake and the flourless chocolate cake. Both were good. And the daffodil is something I would enjoy eating again. We ordered espressos(one single and one double) received two singles. Again«they» messed up. Was a bit disappointing. However, I think our waiter sensed our overall lack of satisfaction and comped an appetizer and sent us home with an extra piece of daffodil cake. So overall, the consistency in the meal was not there, but it’s a cute restaurant to give a try. I would give it another try before completely writing it off.

I was really excited to try Spring Mill Café and I have to start by saying the ambiance is absolutely fantastic. We were seated in the rustic smaller barn at a quaint corner wooden table lit by candles. The service was good, not great, but my expectations are always lower on a Friday night anyway since restaurants are busy so that wasn’t an issue at all. The food was also good, not great. The house made pâté sampler was very delicious so kudos for that. The cheese sampler was way too commercialized — St Andre, Chimay cheese and Beemster? I would have sprung for the Delice de Borgougne, a nice farm aged cheddar and one of beemster’s more aged selections. My filet fell short of expectations — the portion was very fair for the price but I’ve definitely had better and wished I had went for the chicken in duck confit instead like I had originally wanted. My boyfriend’s rabbit had an absurd amount of bones in the dish, including the spine! We are adventurous eaters but it was like a science project to get the meat from the bones. It seemed as though the scallops were well liked by my family as well as the tile fish, however the presentation of the scallops was quite bare. Perhaps we caught the restaurant on an off night but I won’t be super rushed to return.

50th birthday celebration here, and couldn’t have been better. We rented out the barn and it was a perfect venue with room for kiddies to play. Service staff was accommodating and professional, on point, and skillful. They handled a crowd of 22 with ease and patience, despite 4 year olds running around and the host’s neuroses :). The menu was beautifully presented, the food was cooked to perfection(chef didn’t mind special requests), personalized cake was included in the cost, and it was all delicious. We are picky and critical, and it was simply great. Thank you, Ezra, and Spring Mill for making our birthday celebration a truly happy one. We will see you again soon.

Wonderful meal at the Spring Mill Café. We sat inside. Although the seating outside looked appealing, the café sits on a very busy road, which takes away from the elegance of outdoor seating. Seating is very tight, but cozy. We sat in the back room, and it was very nice. We both had the filet mignon and hazelnut escargot for an appetizer. The filet was done to perfection, and they were huge. They are the entire tenderloin, not just the button. Served in a peppercorn sauce and sliced by the chef. Excellent. We brought a 2011 Bordeaux that went perfect with the meal. The Café is BYOB !!! The daffodil cake for desert was to die for. I’m not a sweet eater at all, and this was great. The only drawback was the fact that the tables were covered in paper table cloths. This took away from the ambience a bit. An not wait to try the café for breakfast. We will definitely be back soon!

Excellent. I am so thrilled to have found this gem of a restaurant so close to my home! The service was fantastic — it is hard to get it ‘just right’ and this crew does. And the food was delicious. Love that it’s a BYO, too!

Visting my very special Philly friend always means finding the best place to enjoy her company and have a spectacular meal. Conshy BYOB, French menu with a legit Paris raised exec chef/owner… HELLYA! As we pulled in the environment reminded me of being somewhere in the Normandy country side with a 70’s era Citroen wagon by the entrance. Interior is a converted home and tastefully eclectic. We were warmly greeted by Nathan who took care of us for the evening. I love BYOB as it really allows me to pick out a special wine without being hostage to the place’s list. Tonight, I brought a Cakebread Zin with me from home(love the train). It was nutty with deep flavors and perfectly complemented our«Chef Journey» experience. With the exception of our entrees(ya, we like to share), we let the chef call our plays for the evening. Grilled octopus on a bed of greens with a vinaigrette that would make my sneaker taste good. Reminded me of some great times having this dish in Madrid. Next, diver scallops perfectly prepared over a interesting hash. The main act… drumroll, Short RIbs and Rack of Lamb. Both were crazy luscious and full of flavor. We had a nice cheese plate followed by desert. Crème Brûlée and Banana Fosters Bread Pudding. Food is about creating memories and this meal provided a great backdrop to a phenomenal night.

1st timers to the café and came for Sunday Brunch. This quaint restaurant is the real thing; so quintessential of a French country experience in Conshohocken. Hazelnut Escargot, farm fresh eggs, and such wonderful service! We were even seated at a table for two nestled in a little nook. Everything was freshly prepared and cooked perfectly. Can’t wait to return to try dinner!

Two stars because the wait staff were very friendly, the interior was cozy and because I love byobs. I’m a picky eater and for 30 entrees in the suburbs, I expect my food to taste better than Applebee’s. I don’t understand how this place got so many good reviews? Did someone pay these reviewers to make these reviews up or do people just have bad taste? Is it because I’ve been spoiled by NY restaurants? Seriously? Who paid these people to put up these good reviews! First: the cheese platter. The assortment of cheeses was decent but when I asked the waitress if my grapes were washed and she said yes… My grapes should have been washed. Unless someone in the kitchen doesn’t know how to wash things, these grapes had a powdery film on them. I imagine the powdery film to be pesticides or dirt. Grapes aside– why was there honey in the middle of the plate? Just a big globe of honey? I’ve never seen this before? Serious? Why honey? If you could put any kind of sweetness in a plate that is suppose to be salty… What about agave? Not as sweet and over powering? Orrrr you can skip the honey altogether and just give us another sliver of cheese? My rabbit. Was mush. It was like someone made a French onion soup and put a rabbit in it. This rabbit must have been cooked in pieces because some of it was tough. Some of it was mushy. Not enough noodles in my 30 dollar rabbit French onion soup… I wish it was 15 dollars so I would kinda be getting what I paid for… The bass. Was. On. Top. Of. Mashed potatoes? Not on the side? But the kicker is that the mash was on top of tomato paste? thus the layers are: bottom to top– tomato paste, mash, bass, and then cook greens? I don’t know who thought this dish was a good idea because it was not. I don’t know who wrote any good reviews on this dish because this plate just had me confused? Who wants to eat tomato paste with their fish? Why not un-layer this plate, nix the tomato paste and just hAve a dish that is simple and not confusing because the bass was nicely cooked? Te bass however tasted weird and mushy when eaten together with the mash. Pork chops: dry. Really freaken dry. Really really really dry. Tough is another word. Favors were ok. I wish this plate was $ 11 dollars instead of 30 because that would be the most I would have paid for this dish. Crème brûlée was good. No complaints about it. The custard was not thick and creamy. It was on the lighter side. Overall, I had a good time here. Not because of the food but because of my company and the bottle of wine I bought. This is a good place to have appetizers and desserts and just hang out. It’s not loud or crowded and no one is rushing you out of the door. This restaurant pretends to be French but is more like an American who saw one French cooking show and decided to open up a restaurant.

Went here on the night I got engaged with my wife. What a cool place! It’s kind of tucked away from the bustle of conshohocken which is nice. The house wife is great but what is killer is the food! The filet mignon was the single handed best thing I have ever ate my entire life. No lie. Truffle butter and yum!!!
