If you plan to rent a property from Gressen Properties, think twice before you make a move. My wife and I rented an apartment for almost three years from Scott Gressen and it was a truly awful experience. When we brought issues up… like the upstairs neighbors toilet overflowing into our apartment, we were called«meticulous». — the front steps fell apart and it took them 4 months to fix it — they never came by to mow the lawn(which we had to do) — they never did any type of snow removal(which was fine because we had to shovel our cars out, but nobody else in the building shoveled the property) — one of their guys(who bared a striking resemblance to Grizzly Adams) would come down to work and spit sunflower seeds all over our porch… needless to say he didn’t clean them up but maybe that was me being meticulous — when we had water damage, instead of fixing the ceiling tiles they just spray painted them with oil based primer… which misted onto our leather couches and the owner refused to send someone out for weeks to fix it(he did take $ 150 off of our rent afterwards) — when we weren’t home and things needed to be fixed in the apartment, his«guys» would actually eat leftover food out of our refrigerator — the power kept turning off on the property — half of the upstairs apartment was wired into our panel and we realized at the end of our lease we were paying for their electric — years prior when they«renovated» the property, they did the worst work ever(i.e., wood paneled overtop of old broken, uninsulated windows) BUT, let’s not forget when one of his guys called one month to say, «Hey, I know it’s a few weeks in advance but if you pay the rent now in cash, we can take $ 300 off.» naturally that sounds shady but this was the guy we always dealt with and to save a few bucks, we jumped on it! Then when Scott the landlord called looking for that months rent, we knew we had an issue. His«guy» fled the scene and apparently quit that day and made a similar deal with a lot of the renters… too funny. That’s what you get when you hire guys off the streets. These are just a few of the issues. I can’t say Scott wasn’t completely unresponsive, but he certainly made us feel like we were ridiculous for bringing any of those issues. Whether you are renting commercial or residential space from Gressen Properties, do your homework and determine what you can and cannot live with!
