I moved to TX a number of years ago and have not been pleased with most hair cuts I’ve gotten. Not too long ago I needed a cut, and was in the Conroe area so I checked Unilocal to find a salon that had good reviews and reasonable prices(Although, my expectations were still pretty low.) However, I soon found that with Clip Cuts — you can believe the positive reviews! They are as good as their reviews say they are! I’m going to start my review addressing the ambiance of the salon! It is bleak! We are talking plan-jane atmosphere — they don’t even have magazines to flip thru(to read OR to select possible hair cuts or styles from). They do have a TV, but it is hung at a terrible location for watching from the few waiting area seats that are located in the lobby area. It is obvious that the salon does not draws customers in for any other reason except styling hair! That said, the waiting area was clean and the furniture was in decent enough shape, so the minimalist lobby does serve its purpose. Now on to the actual ‘hair cut’ review — at the time of my visit other reviewers had mentioned two stylists by name — Angela and Phala(pronounced Paula). Both were recommended as being good stylists. Since I didn’t have an appointment, and was a new-be customer with limited time, I just signed in and took my chances with which stylist I’d get — hoping I’d get a good cut, but knowing that I could end up getting a less than skilled stylist that hadn’t been mentioned in a review. As luck would have it, I got Angela — she asked what I wanted done, we talked for a few minutes — I explained the look I was going for, and before long she went to work cutting my hair. She was fast and the cut was exactly as I had described! I was blown away to have finally found a stylist in Texas that could cut hair well!!! And at a very reasonable cost — $ 11!!!(I did not have a shampoo or have it styled.) BTW Phala was there that day too — she had a request waiting when I arrived — which means happy, returning customer. So, would I go back? Positively I would — and WILL!

This is an awesome place. I have been getting my hair cut 15 years same staff. Tammy does an outstanding job never rushes always on your pace if you’re in a hurry she will hurry or if you just want to chat for a moment as long as there’s no customers waiting behind him she will chat I’ve always been satisfied with the job she does. And if by chance she is not there one of her coworkers always does a great job in her absence. Very reasonable priced, but with excellent service.

My mom suggested this place to me when I asked her where she’d gotten her hair done, because it had been several months since my last trim and as a recent transplant to the north Houston area I was in need of a reliable stylist recommendation. I wasn’t in the market for any major overhaul on my hair and really wanted *just* enough trimmed off to clean up the damaged ends. Clip Cuts is a small, unassuming salon operation located off of N. Loop 336 in Conroe, about a 5 or 10 minute drive north of The Woodlands. They do waxing and nail services in addition to hair, all at very reasonable prices, making them a nice one-stop place for regular beauty maintenance. My mom referred me to her stylist, Phala, who was very professional and cut my hair even better than what I’d asked for. She is very conservative with how much she cuts off, and has no problem trimming up some more if you ask her. Unlike the last few times I’ve had my hair cut(mind you, I was a big fan of a certain Aveda salon when I lived in Dallas) I left Clip Cuts without a single split end overlooked. I also got a very thorough blowout to finish, and I was very impressed with my cut when Phala was done. The grand total for a shampoo, cut, and blowdry came out to $ 28 and some change, which is definitely far below what the average mall salon charges. According to my mom, they only charged her about $ 70 for a color, cut and style last time she got her hair done here(and it looks amazing!). If you’re the type that likes the trendier type of salons, this one might not be for you. There’s no beat-heavy dance music playing in the background or black and white photographs of hair models plastered on the walls. It doesn’t have that«hip» vibe, but I got a really great haircut anyway. I would definitely recommend Clip Cuts for people wanting a more average type of cut and style versus hipsters wanting something a bit more daring. Overall I was very happy with my experience and will definitely return for my next haircut. :)
