See the pic of the salt shaker that posted. Passable omelette, but the place was kind of dirty.

Average, maybe slightly below. Normally a packed house awaits you but just a few others in here during our visit. We’ll give the waitress high marks, service was fine. That might change during peak hours though so keep that in the back of your mind. Coffee was lukewarm at serving, a cardinal sin in my book. Deep fried goodies were not quite done, another minute in the fryer would have worked wonders. Atmosphere is a fifties wannabe diner in an aging strip mall, cute at best. My real problem is the pricing, about 25% above what you’d expect to pay in a place like this. The same dollar amount will get you much more almost anywhere else. To wrap it up, you won’t be offended, except perhaps in your pocketbook, but you’ll probably find no reason to return again.

On a weekend snowboarding trip to Seven Springs with the mancub, we found the Hometown Diner here in Connellsville, PA for breakfast. The 50’s/60’s rock n roll themed diner did have a great music selection playing outdoors and above our hungry heads. The walls were crowded with all the expected classic cars, Marilyn Monroe memorabilia, and music records. And there was carpet, everywhere… in places you wouldn’t think carpet belonged. The bathroom was clean but dismal. Our eggs, omelet, and sirloin breakfast steak was cooked to order and presented as expected. The toast was soggy, the hashbrown casserole was a mix of sweet onions and velveeta, and the home fries were chunks of un-seasoned potatoes. Our experience was highlighted by the lukewarm service and the crowding, fake plants adorned with 2 inches of dust bunnies. Three stars given because it’s a greasy diner, and sometimes that’s just good enough.

Love it. The atmosphere, the music, the portions and the prices. I usually get the Philly Steak and Cheese. The tea is fantastic.
