The Venue Theatre

Just went to see the musical «Hairspray» at this new theatre that just opened in the Safeway Shopping Center in Conifer. It was a high school cast that performed mixed in with a few adults. The high school students are really talented and the show is loads of fun. Adrienne an adult performer wowed me with her beautiful strong voice as Ms. Motormouth. Big, Blonde & Beautiful is one of my favorite songs in the play and Adrienne Martin Fullwood is riveting to watch in this performance. I loved the song «You’re Timeless to Me» performed by Asa Cogswell and Austin Crow– it left me in tears laughing so hard. It’s my second favorite song in the musical. Also «Welcome to the 60’s» is full of energy and action. Velma Von Tussles– sings The Legend of Mrs. Crabs and it almost makes you like her character although she is a hard character to like with her bigotry and spiteful ways. Corny Collins– Jordan Cogswell is the debonair show host and delights the audience in this role with his smooth talking ways and charming smile. These kids have worked hard and it’s an entertaining show. I had a great night and left smiling and singing– Stop, No, Please– and it’s stuck in my head this morning.
I love live theater and you won’t be sorry you came here. Sweeny Todd is the next musical opening in April and I will be there again for more entertainment by this talented high school theatre company.
This theater is small so make sure you buy tickets online as they have been selling out most nights. Saturday December 7^th is closing night of Hairspray and I have heard it’s already sold out. Can’t wait until the next show– Venue! I had a great night.
