Highway robbery. $ 37 for one ½ bushel bag is your only option. And $ 3 for a pole to pick with. But don’t worry, they give you back $ 1 when you return the pole! Parking is very limited — most people wind up parking on the side of Route 304(in a 55mph zone). Cash only for everything, even in the farm stand. Not much else to say about it…

I stopped by this stand on a beautiful fall day to pick some apples – just a few choice ones. Unfortunately, the only way this orchard allows you to pick apples is to pre-buy a bag for $ 37(!) and pay for an apple pole for $ 3, unlike every other orchard I’ve ever been to that just weighs your apples at the end. So, either $ 40 for one bag of apples or nothing at all. I understand that the staff were harried, since there were about 6 school busses there. But when I tried to buy a small apple cider, the salesman told me «don’t even think about it», since they were apparently all already purchased for the school groups. Seriously?

$ 40 to fill up a 25 lb bag. A relatively small orchard, but they have a decent variety of apples. If you visit too late in the Autumn season, all the trees will have already been overpicked. The drive here is a nice escape from the city, though. I really enjoyed their Honeycrisps!

I grew up in Congers and Dr. Davies Farm Stand will always have a special place in my childhood memories. However, returning as an adult… $ 37 for a bag for apples is highway robbery. The apple selection is heavily picked through(and we went at 10AM) with tons of apples of the floor as trip/ankle roll hazards. The pumpkin patch really isn’t a pumpkin patch at all — moreso a collection of pumpkins displayed as in a store and premarked with pricing. I was sorely disappointed as I brought my adult friends from the city and they were discussing how the other apple picking orchards in the area were cheaper and the apple varieties more clearly marked. Was hoping Dr. Davies would impress — but didn’t live up to my fond memories.
