You’re driving on I-70 and see a stealth fly over. That’s when you realize that your close to the best hamburger joint in mid-Missouri. The hamburgers are thin and incredible. I asked the owner if anyone could buy them and he said he didn’t think so. I’d buy a case if I could. Freezing them probably changes the taste. I planned my trip on I-70 to put me here at dinner time. Frankly, I would have probably stopped any time they are open. This is a real treat. Forget the same old hamburger at the national chain. This food is great.

Nice people, good food, and great ice cream. Highly recommend you give it a try. My favorite is the tenderloin and of course the soft serve.

Unfortunately, my husband and I do not like this place. Everyone hypes up this place to be «the one and only» and it doesn’t taste that great. I’d rather go to Cold Stone Creamery.

If you want to feel like you just crawled out of a time machine, stop here. It’s a little roadside seasonal ice cream shop from the past. No, it’s not gourmet, but it is yummy and cheap. I had a HUGE brownie sundae with HOMEMADE brownies for $ 3.25 and had to throw half of it away to keep from going into a sugar coma. Yeah, you have to wait for the little blonde teenagers to stop drawing hearts on their order pads and chatting about lipstick, but it’s still a great place that reminds you how good small town life can be.

Small town America at its best — stopped for gas on way from KC to STL and HAD to stop in for some ice cream. Service was fast and good — I had their version of the blizzard where they pretty much put a shredded snickers on top of some decent ice cream. Note — they only take cash.

Visiting my dad’s hometown in Missouri in the summer, we would always go by Cree-Mee Freeze for ice cream and burgers. Ordering a vanilla milkshake at Cree-Mee Freeze as an adult, I reminded myself that sometimes childhood memories don’t match up with adult realities; like how Oreo cream really tastes like plastic, not magic. Happily, Cree-Mee Freeze ice cream really is the best in the whole wide world, possibly better than I imagined it tasting as a kiddo. I asked my dad how long it’s been open. He says, «Forver. At least since the 50s.» In 60 some years of operations, they’ve really mastered it. But make sure you stop by in the summer– I think it’s only open through Memorial to Labor Day.

Really cute place to stop on the way from St. Louis to Columbia or KC! The ice cream is pretty incredible and is all homemade, and you can tell the people who own this place take some pride in it. Oh, and try the fried pickles! One note, I ordered the Twix concrete, and while the ice cream was the best I’ve ever had… that wasn’t Twix in there. I think it was a knockoff. It still tasted okay but I had higher hopes for that part. They do have a bathroom inside if you’re stopping by while traveling, but it’s really small and hot. You’re better off stopping at a gas station before getting your ice cream!
