This is our second visit with Nicole as our server and she is fantastic. Great food, love the patio. Spot on service and she is a vibrant person. She truly seems to enjoy what she does. We will be back.

All the years I’ve lived close by and I don’t think I’d ever been in here before. I know I’ve never heard any friends talking about it… and now I know why. I imagine before the Groupon was posted a few weeks ago this place was empty. Every table was full when we went in this weekend, but I’m not fooled by popularity when I have a coupon that gives me $ 30 worth of food for $ 10 and includes wine(up to $ 12 total I think). It just makes me wonder how many other people have that same deal, and how many are return visits. I don’t think that any business that’s doing well has the need for a Groupon coupon, which makes me wary of certain purchases through them. You have to wonder«why does this business need more business?» For Toscana, I believe the most obvious reason was the food. Service was okay. Um, it was good. Service was good. Our server was attentive and diligent. Though, he asked if I wanted pepper on my salad and I said yes and he gave me like one little turn of the pepper crusher. Keep going, dude. Until I say«thank you», you shouldn’t stop with the pepper. Same goes with parmesan cheese(his grinder broke mid-cheese. Hmmm.) So that was a solid four-star performance, except for the breaking grinder. We’ve been watching all the seasons of Hells Kitchen from the beginning, and because of that shwo I learned that I’ve never had risotto(that I can remember). The creamy, rice-looking plates of deliciousness always tease me. So as I ordered the seafood risotto($ 19.95) I could hear the echo of Chef Ramsey yelling«you’ve overcooked it, you Donkey!!» in the back of my head. I pictured myself yelling this if my dish came out overcooked. Not sure I could even recognize overcooked risotto. But I learned I can recognize bland, dry risotto. Was this overcooked? Indeed. Even the glasses of wine($ 9 each) didn’t help this. The seafood pieces were all over and there was a great variety of seafood. This pleased me. Honestly, a handful of clams and mussels, a couple big shrimp, large pieces of tender fish, some calamari(I think… it was fairly tough, but overalll still good). Yes, plenty of seafood for my liking, but the bed it rested on was not terrifical. Sad face Amy sat disappointed. I stared across at my fiancé’s plate… maybe it held something for me?! I’ve never seen him order meatballs before but figuring we were at an Italian restaurant he’d try something new.($ 14.95) He gave me a bite and commented on how flavorless it was. I first noticed how dry it was. Actually, the flavor left a bad taste in both of our mouths. He picked at the noodles some. The sauce around it was okay with large chunks of cooked tomato and onion — it was seasoned nicely, BUT the two large balls of meat were horrible. I can’t say bad, because they were so much worse than bad.(Note: I took most of his dish home and brought it to work two days later, having tossed the meatballs, and it STILL left a terrible taste in my mouth this morning. I ate half of the saucy noodles for breakfast then tossed the rest. And I never waste food.) Back to dinner: I had asked for a salad($ 1.95)with my meal(which is an additional charge) and received a tiny plate of lightly dressed salad. I can’t remember if there were croutons but if so, there weren’t many. Not enough green to make me happy. We did receive a bread basket that was very good and there was a garlic sauce to accompany it, which we thinned using the oil and vinegar on the table. The bread was the best part. And the garlic. That was great too. We ordered a crème brûlée for dessert($ 5.50) to share and I thought it was small but my fiancé thought the size was perfect. It was very, very good. Sorry to say we won’t be back to have dessert again though. If we’re back in Todos Santos, craving Italian, we’re going to spaghetti factory. At least salad and dessert are both included there!

I think I am being a little generous with my star rating. I came across this place on my lunch break looking for great tasting authentic Italian food. The kitchen is open and clearly visible once you walk inside, which I wasn’t a fan of. Since it was a slow day the cooks were leaning against the counters having a conversation. This didn’t stop me from ordering to go. The man taking my order said the total would be around $ 15. I gave him a $ 20 bill. He said he would have to go down the street to get my change. I said forget it since I didn’t have much time left on my lunch. I walked out with my $ 20 fettuchini alfredo expecting it to be delicious. It wasn’t and I was disappointed. I have since then been going to The Old Spaghetti Factory which is half the price, and in my opinion, tastes a lot better.

Came in with a whole boat load of people… no problem fitting us all in comfortably on a Friday afternoon with a reservation. Yummy soft bread served to us along with garlic dipping sauce. Starting things off with a cute tropical drink(not very strong even though it was $ 7.50). Decided to go with the pesto tortellini with the addition of grilled chicken. With about 20 people in our group, all of the orders took a while to get to our table, which is understandable and the waiters were great about keeping our water glasses and bread baskets full. Pasta came and it was pretty good. Chicken was a little fatty but nothing too horrible. I enjoyed my meal but probably won’t be back.

The bread was good. Very good. But that was about it. Tablecloth was dirty upon being seated. First wine choice not available. Second choice made but waitress forgot to deliver, so we waited a long time for the wine. My Saltimboca was atrocious. Virtually no prosciutto; no sage; just a thick slice of veal with lots of cheese on top — dumped on top of a pile of mashed potatoes(so when you try to cut the veal, you end up coating it in mashed potatoes which is not a particularly desirable effect). The cheese from the saltimboca was melted and overflowing onto the potatoes, so that the two were inseperable — it really appeared as if they put some veal pieces onto mashed potatoes, dropped cheese on top, and microwaved the whole thing. My partner’s calamari steak was also awful. A very large serving, and tender, but in a strange breading that absorbed the taste of the cooking oil, dumped on top of the veggies(why!), and swimming in oil. I often wonder how a restaurant can have such a varied menu — how do they have all those ingredients on hand, fresh, ready to whip up for a meal. Saltimboca requires freshly sliced prosciutto, and fresh sage — not something you need for most dishes. In the case of my dish, there was maybe one triangle(½ inch sides) of ‘ham’ per big piece of veal — I suspect they didn’t have prosciutto and substituted some other sliced pork product. That’s why restaurants have things like saltimboca as a ‘special’ — they get the ingredients and cook it just for a few days. They should have said, ‘sorry that’s not available tonight’ but instead they botched it(or maybe they just think it’s normal to prepare it this way!). Lovely location, shame the place is so bad.

Came here for lunch a couple weeks ago. Ordered the vegetable lasagna. It was very light and tasty. Wasn’t sure I loved the nuts in it, but still enjoyed the dish. I had a bite of my friend’s pasta dish(I think it had artichokes), and I noticed that the red sauce was a little too intense or bitter … similar to the red sauce on my vegetable lasagna. It lacked the tartness of other marinaras. I’d definitely come again for lunch. It wasn’t the best pasta I’ve had, but it was tasty and very light! I wasn’t even sleepy after the meal!

We came here with a coupon… had chicken gorgonzola pasta and fettucine carbonara. The latter one tasted better. Both dishes came to a total of about $ 30. I think I paid $ 10 for the coupon and was able to get $ 30 worth of food. With that said, the food was worth it! We sat outdoors, since the weather was nice. Service was wonderful.

Had an order of the Vegetable Lasagna(~$ 13): pasta stuffed with carrot, broccoli, and spinach baked with Fontina cheese, roasted walnuts, marinara sauce. Also had an order of the Eggplant Parmigiana(~$ 14): breaded eggplant topped with Fontina cheese and baby spinach, served with angel hair pasta and pomodoro sauce. Food was delicious, staff was casual, and the ambiance was elegant. NOTE: Mints which are offered are chocolate-flavored and might not match one’s food.

We had read the reviews for Luna’s and headed to Concord to try it out. Stupid me had not noticed that they are not open on Sundays so we found Toscana. Unless I am blown away or am thoroughly ticked off I am having increasing difficulty assigning a rating. The service was good, the food fine, it just did not match the price. For the same money we could have had a better meal at the Veranda in Old Town Pittsburg. I had the rainbow trout special and Judit the Lamb shank. Both were good but not special. I guess what I am getting at is that value has to be part of the grading. By the way, if tiramisu is an essential part of your Italian dining experience, skip it here. It is rather dry and not a bit luxurious. Now, we have to go to Luna’s on a night they are open.

3.5 Totally decent, a tad overpriced, with a nice setting and what seemed like a very attentive, friendly staff. None of our dishes were fantastic nor were they bad, just solid all around. Their beer list was lacking, the wine list was good. I came here on a Groupon and in brutal honesty will probably not be back, with Swagat so near by an all. Still, a slightly higher end, very solid Italian joint.

Went here on a living social deal, so far the first I have regretted. No fountain soda boo, or at least if this is a place trying to be a fine dining restaurant give me a free soda. 3 $ for a can of soda x2 no good. The owner or someone cursing in the back did not make for the nice imitate fine dining experience. Small Portions but good bread — nice oil and vinegar at the table. Made it feel a bit more authentic to me. Then it came time to order and I really wanted to try a stuffed cannoli, but they ran out? no good again… That night my gf got sick and assuming it was the salad since that’s the only thing we didn’t share, then come to find out my bff and his co-workers went there a couple times and got sick as well… iono…sounds like a trend. Calamari was ehh, no tentacles, and it was served like a steak and wasn’t very good, quite bland. no good 3 times…

This place was eh… Nothing truly spectacular. The server was nice but my boyfriend was disappointed that he didn’t quickly replenish our bread basket when it became empty. I believe he waited quite a while for a refill on his soda as well. I really enjoyed my glass of white zinfandel which was a heftier glass than I had expected. This one glass of wine was probably worth it. Everything else was just eh. We ordered a calamari steak for an appetizer which we didn’t really enjoy. We were expecting calamari that is usually cut up into little«O» pieces lightly breaded and deep friend with a side of marinara sauce. It was our fault because we didn’t realize that a calamari«steak» meant that it was just flat and breaded and sliced into long pieces. Bleh. Then came our main course. My boyfriend wanted to order a cannelloni but I believe but they were out of them. Honestly, I can’t even remember what he wanted to order or ended up ordering. That’s how mediocre this place was. I wanna say he ordered a pasta with cream sauce… I think maybe the carbonara pasta but I’m really not too sure. As for me, I ordered the baby spinach and pear salad as my entrée. In my opinion, «Meh. I’ve experienced better» is the phrase to truly define Toscana Ristorante. UPDATE: Oh, and I forgot to mention that we were seated near the kitchen. Unfortunately we had to hear one of the staff members using profanity from the kitchen. They should try to be discrete using curse words in the back of the house.

Visited this place for the first time on a very pleasant Thursday evening. The farmer’s market in Todos Santos Plaza was in full swing and the area was jammed with shoppers and families there for the free concert. It all made for great people watching while we enjoyed a very pleasant dinner. Service was very good, though a little uneven. Nothing horrendus, just a couple mix-ups that were quickly corrected. The food was really quite good. Bread was good and the garlic/olive oil was sinful, if you really like raw garlic. We do, and my wife couldn’t leave it alone. I found it to be a bit overwhelming, but a little extra olive oil from the bottle on the table(they also provide balsamic), toned it down just enough. Veal picatta and chicken picatta were both tender and flavorful. The chicken gorganzola pasta was rich, tasty and cooked perfectly. Salads were nice, but nothing over the top. We found this to be a very pleasant restaurant with a very nice patio dining option. We will be back.

More like a 3.5 star but since they have a good early bird menu and offer entertainment discount bumped them up to 4 stars. Have seen this place on several occasions and decided to try it since we had a buy one get one free entertainment card. Value I believe was up to $ 12. The guy who served us who i’m assuming was the owner suggested we save the card and order off their early bird 1−5pm $ 9.95 meal combinations which looked pretty good but decided to defer. Ordered: Mushroom ravioli in brown butter sauce the menu describes as Portobello and shiitake mushroom ravioli in a brown butter and seared basil sauce $ 13.95. It had a light butter sauce, good but a bit more burnt brown butter flavor more than my liking, probably wouldn’t order again. Tortellini Pesto the menu describes as Cheese tortellini creamy pesto sauce, sundried tomatoes and roasted pine nuts $ 12.95. This dish was exceptional! Complimentary bread and dipping sauce was excellent. Waiter who came by to refill waters was very polite, friendly and timely. About 4 other groups of people dining at the time. Will probably return and try the early bird menu since it includes soup or salad.

I went here with hubster and his co-worker after reading Unilocal reviews and bleh is all I have to say. We ordered a bottle of wine and it did not arrive until AFTER our dinner AFTER we had been seated for 30 mins. We also got the bread after our dinner had arrived. The food was bland, the service was bad, and the price was not right. Hubster and I never complain about anything but tonight was just ridiculous. I am just glad the food was compliments of his company and we didn’t have to pay. Otherwise I’d say something about their sub par service and food. Don’t waste your time and money. Ep. your time, you’ll be there for a while with nothing to drink.

I went out w/my BFF on Saturday afternoon for a late lunch around 2:30pm. I checked this restaurant on Unilocal & I was debated for a while after I saw the comment from Christine H.(less than average Italian food…) So, I decided to give it a shot! I realized her comment is very misleading after I tried this restaurant!!! Instead, I would consider Olive Garden is less than average Italian food(super greasy & salty!!! I highly don’t recommend OG to people who have high blood pressure…) The 2nd time I took my parents TR. Anyway, the waiter(I assumed he’s the owner of the restaurant) was very friendly & the foods was delicious! I decided to give it 4 stars because I love the service, the atmosphere(especially sitting outside), the taste, food quality, & the presentation of the foods/desserts. I would say you can compare this restaurant to many good Italian restaurants in SF. Besides, it’s 10x easier to find parking than SF!!! Anyway, the foods below that my BFF/my parents & we all tried & love it!!! Warm soft bread w/chopped raw garlic, chopped pepper, olive oil… etc.(Very unique dipping sauce for bread compare to other Italian restaurants that only served olive oil w/balsamic vinegar…) Clam Chowder or Cream of Mushroom(soup of the day) Salad(both soup of the day & salad, each cost less than $ 2& taste good!!!) Seafood Risotto(I wish they have that for dinner, too…) Salmon Fettuccine(Luv it!) Italian Meatballs(Huge meatballs w/tomato sauce spaghetti but very SALTY…) Veal Saltimbocca(The best mashed potatoes I’ve ever tried!!!) Lemon Sorbetto(soooooo good & cute!) Orange Sorbetto(Not bad!) Crème Brulee(Luv it!) Tiramisu(Must try!) Expresso(Luv it!)

My boyfriend and I came here for my bday dinner this weekend. We had never been to Toscana before and decided it would be cool to try a new place. I had made a reservation for 5pm, but when we got there, there was only 1 other table with customers. The inside décor is very nice, and if it hadn’t of been so windy we would have sat outside. We started off with the stuffed mushrooms. They were grilled and stuffed with cheese and tomatoes. They were good, but pretty small. If you have more than 2 people, you would def need another appetizer to satisfy everyone. They also give you free bread with olive oil and garlic to dip it in. My boyfriend got the veal parmesan. He loved his dish. It came with 2 good size pieces of lightly breaded veal. It had a lot of flavor, but wasn’t heavy. The tomato sauce they topped it with was very fresh tasting as well-it was more like stewed tomatoes than a sauce. Not oily at all. The dish also came with a small portion of angel hair pasta. I got the clams linguine. I’ve never had this dish before, but I liked it a lot. You get a good amount of clams, and the white wine cream sauce was surprisingly light, and also included mushrooms and garlic. Lots of flavor and the pasta was cooked just right. Really good! Our server was attentive; he refilled everything promptly and checked on us often. Our bill was $ 47 for the 2 entrée’s, appetizer and iced teas. All in all we had a good, tasty dinner and will definitely come back to try other items on the menu.

I dined here a few nights ago as part of a work function. Our new British boss was in town and it was time for our Site management team and him to «bond» after a somewhat stressful, albeit productive day. Gayle was also nice enough to hang out with my son while I was out on the town at Todos Santos Square. According to one of my colleagues, Toscana is now under new management. And they did a nice job with our comfortable seating, good service, tasty appetizers and salads, lots of red wine, and nice dinner choices. I thought the food was very good, but not outstanding. And my blackberry salmon dish(with polenta and fresh vegetables) was certainly interesting and perhaps worth another visit.
