DJWest at Nails Forever delivers the highest quality product on the market. The friendly atmosphere and service are exceptional. DJ is a very talented artist and it shows in the quality of her work as well as the custom artistic touch she can add to a manicure.
I highly recommend this salon for both nails and hair. Don’t think I will ever have need to go elsewhere again!

I honestly cannot say why I am giving this place two stars. Oh yeah, because I actually sat through the service which was a painstakingly 2 ½ hours long!
I went here only because I thought I was getting a Groupon deal and… well, you know what they say about ²⁰⁄₂₀ hindsight…
Like Amy S., I scheduled my appointment for a Shellac two weeks in advance because EVERY time I called they were «busy». When I showed up 10 minutes the early for my 10 a.m. appointment, the place was dark.
A few minutes after my scheduled appointment time, the lady walks up and opens the place:
Small and cramped
Looks like a health code violation — dirty!
The place smelled faintly of smoke — being pregnant I SMELL everything.
The Price Is Right playing in the background, I sit there while my nails seem to be getting the bare minimum treatment. No cuticle work — pushed back. It was like I was five years old again and my mom was pushing my cuticles back for me. I’m actually glad she didn’t cut them because her hands shaked like a 5.0 earthquake.
Two and a half hours later, starving, thirsty, bum hurting from sitting so long and trying to breathe shallowly I left with a shellac. The shellac polish itself lasted and it didn’t have to be redone for bubbles: so that’s the extra star; however, I will not be going back.

DO NOT BUY A GROUPON!!! I didn’t read the reviews until after I purchased the groupon. Most places you can get an appointment in a few days, but I called on Monday for any appointment Tuesday-​Saturday at any time and they couldn’t find an appointment for me. I am now stuck with this groupon and will probably never use it. I have to say there is a reason that most of their reviews are a star. I also mentioned that I bought this Groupon for a vacation coming up and they still said, sorry. I am going to call/​email Groupon to see if I can get my money back– and I will NEVER go there. Thanks Nails Forever, but I guess you don’t care about getting new customers.

This place has been horrible to make an appointment with, and completely unprofessional. I’d give it negative stars if I could since your first impression even prior the service is really important. My co worker and I both bought the groupon. On two instances we called, it was very unprofessional as they did not know «each» other’s availability– since I think there are only 2 of them that work here. We were promised a call back after we gave them our availability and no one EVER called us back. I then called again because I was going to Vegas. I specifically said that I was going on Tuesday ⁸⁄₂₄ and needed an appointment before that, and I was scheduled in on Monday– ⁸⁄₂₃. I showed up, and sat there, and then was told, oh we had you down for next monday. WTH. I specifically said before I was going to leave for Vegas and gave her my dates. I went to another salon and it was so easy to just walk in, and there were only 2 people. Mind you, this is not a cheap alternative that I went to, its off Treat Blvd across from trader Joe’s so its a nice nail shop. So our third attempt happened 3 weeks later, and now I asked my coworker (who told me to buy the groupon with her) to call and try to make an appointment. Same thing! was told they would call her back since they had nothing on the time she specified, and no call. I then called the next day and explained to DJ that we have BEEN trying to get an apt. and both were given the run around etc. I asked her if certain days were available since my co worker and I were both going somewhere out of town and tried to make an appointment three weeks in advance. She said she wasnt sure and asked if I could call her back since she was at some sort of nail show, and told me to call back in 15 mins. I called back and guess what– no ANSWER! I even left a voicemail. Seriously?! we both then complained to groupon, and they refunded us back our money. Dont buy their groupon, they cant seem to service their clients and I rarely give bad reviews, but come on, we’ve been trying for what? 3 months to schedule in 1 nail appointment. Ridiculous.

I bought a Groupon to come in here for a Shellac and scheduled the appointment for a day or two before my wedding. I wanted my nails to look perfect without getting fake ones. The woman started pushing my cuticles back but they were dry (since she said you can’t soak them before a Shellac). My co-​worker had told me she always does a spa manicure first before her Shellac so I knew this wasn’t true. I asked the woman about removing my cuticles (I haven’t had a manicure in a while) and she said it would look fine when she was all done.
She was shaking a little bit and seemed very tentative. I immediately started to get nervous about the end result. We left 20 minutes into her «service» and she was on the third nail, ever-​so-​gently pushing the cuticle back still. The cuticle softener had dried by this point.
My fiancé and I ended up at Gloss in Walnut Creek after leaving and I had a spa manicure with my Shellac — it survived the wedding with no chips AND nine days in Costa Rica. It was a lot more expensive than my Groupon deal — but sooo worth it for such a special occasion.

DJ is also a great hair stylist.

I’ve been a customer of Nails Forever for over 30 years and have never had a bad appointment. DJ West, Owner, is a delightful young lady that always welcomes you into her shop. DJ does both manicures as well as pedicures. I mainly go to DJ for manicures but occasionally have had a hair cut as well. DJ is a lovely young lady that does fabulous manicures. I constantly have people asking me where I get my nails done. I proudly give them DJ’s name and tell them what a great job she does. In 30 years I’ve never had any kind of fungus or infection. I would highly recommend DJ West and her shop, Nails Forever, to anyone. DJ is also an accomplished artist and sells her wares at craft fairs throughout Contra Costa County. Way to go DJ…

Terrible service for nails. Don’t waste your hard earned cash, as you will not get your money’s worth here!
I booked an appointment in advance and went for a shellac manicure, which I did not get the manicure part. She did not cut or shape my nails as I asked, and she did nothing more than push down the cuticles, but did not even attempt to remove them. (For me this is a huge concern as my cuticles get out of control.) There was no soaking, moisturizing, or conditioning treatment, and only minimal shaping and buffing. I went in without any set or polish on, so this part should have been fast and easy. NO! I believe this lady is probably good at nails, but from the looks of it, she’s only good at her own. While she was working, I couldn’t feel a thing, her touch was lighter than a feather. Some of you might like that, but for me that’s a huge signal that I’m not getting what I’m paying for.
She did not apply the polish all the way to the bottom of the nail bed, seeing as how my crumpled cuticles and hangnails were in the way. Further, she actually neglected to apply the top coat to my right thumb. The worst part for me, is that shellac is supposed to be way faster than getting a full set, and all my friends tell me their polish gets done within 15 minutes, plus a few extra minutes for shaping, etc. She took an ENTIRE HOUR just to apply the polish that sets in 60 seconds??? What’s that about?
Seeing as how there was no manicuring included in the service, I shouldn’t have been charged more than for a polish change only. (Most salons charge around $ 15 for shellac polish only.) She charged me the full $ 25 for the shellac manicure!
Not to mention that this lady was rather rude and completely anti-​social. Apparently she has not the slightest clue about sales, because her people skills are non-​existent. (She’s not foreign either, so there’s no excuses that would justify it, such as she doesn’t understand or speak well etc.)
If you want to get ripped off and get some awful service and be treated as if you’re a nuisance, this is the place for you!
