Massage Envy – Concord

I have been going here for a couple of years. Every time I walk in, I’m greeted by the very polite ladies behind the desk. They immediately take me to the «relaxation room» and my therapist comes to get me at my scheduled appt time. My hour long sessions average about 55 minutes hands-​on and thats perfectly acceptable. Before the session began, my therapist asks about my areas of concern and she/​he focuses on those during the massage. I have never had a bad experience here. Consistently great service.

It’s no wonder this company has been the subject of a class action lawsuit.
I would give zero stars if that were an option. So many problems with this company. First, I always arrived at least 10 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment time, but was regularly taken to the room late. On top of that, the massage always ends early. As a member, you are paying for one 60-​minute massage a month, but are lucky if you receive a 45-​minute massage. On one occasion, I did not receive the massage I requested. When I brought this up to a manager, I was told I would get a free foot scrub at my next session, which I also did not receive. On another occasion (at a different location), I scheduled a hot stone massage, which is charged as 2 sessions, and received an hour and 15 minute massage. On that visit, I entered the room late (as usual) and was then told that I needed to fill out a lengthy form releasing them of any liability, which took another 10 minutes. Additionally, when I attempted to cancel my membership due to financial reasons (which I had fulfilled and then some) via phone, I was met with a rude attitude and told that I would need to go in to fill out a form. When I did so, I was then made aware that I would be responsible for an additional payment, which I stated in writing that I did not authorize. Of course, they charged me anyway. Upon searching reviews of this company, they seem to have a history of continuing charges to accounts that have been cancelled and poor customer service practices. They truly do not care about the customer, with negative reviews all over the place to prove it. Massage Envy would be wise to remember that when a member cancels, they may return some day IF THEY ARE TREATED PROPERLY. They are alienating clientele and perpetuating hostility and negative word of mouth. Don’t take my word for it, just search reviews, like these…

I always see Amy, and she is wonderful. She always asks what is bothering me and tailors each massage to my needs. She is wonderful, and everyone at the front desk is always so nice. Overall I’ve always had a great experience here.

I see *ZAKIA RUFFIN* at the Concord, NC location. She is OUTSTANDING! I go there almost every week. Even though there is another location 1.5 miles away, I chose you drive 35 minutes up to the Concord Massage Envy. Why? To see ZAKIA of course. Seeing her is just what the doctor ordered. Relaxing or Deep Tissue, she can adjust the pressure to suit what ails you. I see her for a VERY Deep Tissue MASSAGE. I have spondylosis in my lower back. She is the a miracle worker for pain management. I go in with a large amount of pain, and she helps relieve it. She sends me off with a large cup of water and instructions to ice and rest my back. Sure I may have a little soreness the next day, but that is a sign of an EFFECTIVE massage. Because it remedies the sharp and stabbing lower back pain for DAYS. She even locates other unknown tensed muscles and works them out before it becomes an issue. ZAKIA is a true professional with years of experience. I always say that she is my well guarded secret… well I guess the cat is out bag now…

Massage was ok at best — I felt rushed and was very disappointed by the high monthly fee you have to pay. You can get in with private massage therapist and pay significantly less that with Massage Envey. In addition, none of them charge the monthly fee. I would recommend to anyone looking for a quAliy massage to avoid the big box name because you are definitely treated just like number– nothing special here.

Wasn’t sure how I was going to like Massage Envy since it is a franchise situation but they have a great first time visit deal for 49.99 for 1 hr. I took my best friend for her birthday and we both had a relaxing wonderful experience. Very professional and Heather B. have me an excellent massage. I ended up joining and plan go at least once a month.

Worst Experience Ever! From the moment my fiancé and I arrived we felt completely unrelaxed! We were asked to fill out paperwork, we started late, and although his massage started 15 mins after mine he finished 10 mins before me. One of the masseuse had a cold and coughed/​sniffled over me for 60 mins. On top of all of this, my finace’s masseuse, told him that she makes «house calls» gave him her personal cell number on her Massage Envy business card and told him to ask for «Candy.» Are you serious? We’ve both cancelled our massage envy memberships! Stay Away. Spend your money on something worth it.

Mina is amazing! It’s really hit or miss as to which massage therapist you get. Tell the receptionists what kind of massage you like and they will try to match you.
