I have only been in for waxing and a facial, but I continue to wax here, finding that Juliane is better(gentler and faster) than anyone I had previously been trudging into Boston to see. I can’t speak about the hair or nail services, but for waxing, I would give Juliane as many stars as possible.

I love this place. It’s right up the street from my apartment so I was happy to hear that it was a good place to get a haircut. After several good haircuts and a great facial, I purchased the Ultimate Bridal Package prior to my wedding. The package was awesome and it was really fun to go back often enough that I got to know the staff a bit. Everyone there is amazingly friendly and happy to make a fuss over a bride. Hair cut — I initially got a few great cuts from a stylist who unfortunately left the salon(although I appreciated that Mane Escape sent me a letter to let me know she was leaving). I haven’t yet found another stylist that I really like but I’m sure I will. I would recommend against Tony, though. I went in for a cut and to dye my hair back to its original brown after years of highlights had turned it blonde. He teased me the entire time about wanting to make my hair darker and gave me a cut that was really uneven. When I went in a few days later to get it fixed, he did even it up a bit but said that was how the cut was supposed to look. Facial — The facials always leave my skin looking and feeling great. They seem to last a really long time, too, with plenty of time to relax. Twice now I’ve gone to Juliane and she’s been great. She doesn’t chat too much, so I can relax without having to worry about making smalltalk. And she always has good recommendations for how I might alter the skincare products I use. Although of course some of these recommendations involve selling me the products the salon uses, they actually have turned out to be a lot better than the stuff I was buying from the grocery store. Makeup — I went in for an initial makeup consultation and makeup on the day of my wedding. Both times I went to Paula who was amazing. She used just the right makeup in a way that looked natural but really good. She also did my mother’s makeup and did a great job there as well. And of course she sold me some of the custom-blended makeup that she’d made for me. It was expensive but always looks great, and I have no idea what I’m doing with makeup, so that’s saying a lot. Paula’s also really nice and made a huge fuss over me and my mother, which was a nice confidence-boost on the wedding day. Hair styling — Initially Samantha had trouble coming up with a wedding-day style for my hair due to its short length and layers. She told me to come back with some hair accessories. About a month later I did and she was able to create an amazing, sparkly up-do with them(and lots of hairspray). She replicated it on my wedding day and it looked great all day. Manicure — The experience of getting a manicure was a lot of fun and it looked really good. Unfortunately it only lasted about 3 days before the polish began to peal. Within a week I lost patience with it and took all the polish off. I’m not sure how long it was supposed to last but that didn’t seem worthwhile for the price. Pedicure — Janet did a great job on my feet, and spent quite a while trying to find a good shade for me. Nearly two weeks later, the polish looks almost as good as it did on the first day.
