ITT Technical Institute

They tried to recruit me to come here. When I told them no, I was cussed out and I mean cussed out. The recruiter used the F-​bomb numerous times because she wanted me to go there and I said no.

It’s a For-​profit school so don’t expect too much. Like any educational institution, there’s good instructors and bad instructors. The good thing about the instructors at ITT is that they know what they’re talking about. The bad is that some of them just don’t care. I’m not speaking about this campus specifically; I graduated from a campus in southern California. Do expect to be in debt for a while though since tuition is absolutely ridiculous here. Would I recommend ITT to another person? Not really but then again, it depends on the person. If you’re an Iraq/​Afghanistan veteran, the good thing is you can use your educational benefits and at least receive an associate’s degree. Definitely do your research first before committing to any school, especially a For-​profit school.

Do not come to this so called «school». It cost about 40k to attend and the «instructor’s», not teacher. They do not know how to teach. Unless you are really smart and just need a diploma to prove you know your subject, your going to be screwed. They dont give you one on one time like they say they do. Some classes are not small like they say they are. They have a horrible network. All equipment is crappy. I regret going here so much. Save your money and your time.

My husband and I went to speak to an enrollment adviser Molly. We set up and appt. but she didn’t even let us know that she could not make it and that some one else would be helping us out. The lady we met with was of little help. She did not listen to our needs. I tried to keep an open mind about this place after reading all the comments on Unilocal and Google, but this place was bad. We would never waste our time going to school here. A week later Molly called my husband again to set up an appointment. Are you kidding me?

Like every school this school has its pros and cons. I’ll try my best to be objective, as my experience was based off the Electronics Program (A.S. and B.S.)
First let me identify who exactly is good for this school:
–If you are the type of person that wants to learn with a bit more one-​on-​one time
–If you are the type of person that wants to get a relatively easy degree to get
–If you are the type of person that has an expectation of good instructors
–If you are the type of person that wants lots of hands on experience
–If you are the type of person that wants a very focused program (no or few wasted unrelated classes)
If any one of these fit you, then this school is for you. If you want structure, prestige, the ability to pick and choose a class then this school probably isn’t for you.
Another point I’d like to make is that If you only come here for the A.S. and you plan to go on further with your education you’re wasting your time. Either come here for the A.S. with the expectation that few classes will transfer, or with the expectation that you’re going to get the B.S. from here. If you don’t like the school, then enroll somewhere else early.
Pros:
–You get pretty much as much time as you want with the instructor
–The classes were well organized (i.e. taking trig and learning about sine and cosine THE SAME WEEK that you’re learning about sine waves in AC Electronics.
–Lots of projects
–Easy to pass
–Everyone works around your schedule if you need
–Top notch teachers*
–Good labs
–The fact that you’re able to transfer from ITT to ITT easily and utilize resources at ANY campus.
–Faculty. Always willing to work with you, always willing to find a way to work something out within reason, always willing to put in extra hours if needed.
–They listen to feedback. It may take them awhile, but if you complain about something consistently (and reasonably) the Dean, Chair, and sometimes the Director will sit down with you and iron out the issues.
*out of the 45 classes I took I had 6 that were not top notch and 4 of those 6 were horrid. One instructor started out horrible and vastly improved, and the other started out good and came down to average from really good.
Cons:
–High turnover rate with faculty. They have an awesome ability to find great talent but struggle to retain the talent they get. This is because the instructors are typically underpaid and there is little flexibility with the faculty as it is difficult for them to get the days on or off that they want.
–School has grown to about the maximum capacity the building can hold. They need a larger lab (or a 2^nd lab), or they just need to move to a larger building or lease out the neighboring buildings.
–Textbooks are horrid. Only the AC, DC, Digital, and C++ books were really any good. The rest were complete crap. The really good instructors rarely used the book anyway and taught from the board or from other sources. If you end up getting a rare, incompetent instructor and you have a class that isn’t one of the 4 listed above, you’re in for a long quarter.
–LRC is great but the virtual library is horrible. You’re better off going to an actual library.
–It’s expensive. Extremely expensive. it’s $ 45,000 per program, so $ 45k for A.S. and another $ 45k for B.S. So if a $ 90k debt (assuming you pass all the classes) is something that concerns you for non-​transferrable credits, then this isn’t the place for you.
They pretty much will let anyone into the college. If you do the work, and if you show up to 9 of the 11 classes each quarter, then you will pass. You would think that based on that, lots of people that really shouldn’t graduate end up graduating anyway. However, most of the time the people that shouldn’t graduate end up dropping out. It’s not hard to pass the classes. You come in every week and listen, do all the work, and actually make an effort to learn the material, you will pass the class almost guaranteed. You probably won’t get an A unless you actually understand the material, but here, simple effort is pretty much all that’s required to pass. My A.S. started with 32 people and ended with 4 graduating. My B.S. started with 20 people and ended with 14. Everyone that graduated, was someone that should have graduated. Only 1 person that failed into the A.S. class behind me graduated when he shouldn’t have. The instructors will give you every opportunity to pass the class so you only fail if you don’t try.
If you do decide to go here, my recommendation is to finish the labs as quickly as possible and instead of leaving early, use the extra time at the end of class to just tinker around with things to learn about them and see what happens. Try to build something from the book related to the class. Take one of the labs and change stuff around to see what happens. If you take your education into your own hands and add onto the excellent instructors they have, you can really excel here.

I go to school here, the curriculum is garbage, If the teacher even follows it. Props to my 3 good teachers out of 10. I’m sick of this place I’m glad i get my associates in December but I’m not going to continue here. for the IT portion YOU ARE BETTER OFF RESEARCHING THINGS ON THE INTERNET YOUR SELF (like certifications… A+, Cisco, Microsoft, etc…)
Our in school network is pathetic for an IT school (slow, no porn filters)
If you want a degree based off of signing in on the attendance maybe this place is for you.
If you want to learn anything necessary for a job, go somewhere else. I know DVC pushes you harder. I know people that go there.
In a closure… The best staff here are the recruiters, then the Tutors, then a few teachers. But the admin here is quite slacky and un organised. The majority of teachers don’t do anything but hang out. You will hardly learn the technical jargon at best, you wont even learn how to do anything, no matter how simple it is, here at Concord ITT-​Tech.
