Had an order of the Super Combo(~$ 8): three pupusa plate(bean & cheese in this case) with rice & beans on the side. Food was delicious, staff was mobile, and the ambiance was pebbled. PS: Note that(per verification with the folks behind the counter) this«El Aguacate» is the same as the old«El Aguacate» that used to be located on Clayton Rd…

Ok, the pupusa is still great, but I tried a torta and it was not very good. The taste was fine, but it was kind of soggy and didn’t have all the layers of topping I thought a torta has.

Craving pupusas for breakfast, I ran across this truck with two others outside the Solano drive-in swap meet on Sunday. I ordered a couple but didn’t even finish them. The pupusas were dry and flavorless. So disapppointed, I didn’t order anything else, threw away what I didn’t finish and went to the next truck over to try again.

I have been working in Concord lately and after continually seeing a food truck parked along side the Solano Drive In, I decided to check it out. The truck has«Pupusas» written in large letters. You cannot miss it. I parked behind the truck and walked up to the window where I was greeted by a very nice lady that only spoke broken English. I told her I wanted some pupusas. She held up a couple of pork and cheese pupusas and said that was all she had. I asked her a couple of times whether I could have some made fresh and she kept saying she only had those two pork and cheese pupusas. Finally I noticed a sign that had a large variety of pupusas listed. When I came across the chicherone and cheese pupusas, I asked her if they ever had those. At that point she told me she would have to make them for me if I could wait a few minutes. She offered me the meal which comes with two pupusas, rice, beans, and cabbage slaw(curdito) for five bucks and I gave her the big«hell yes». Next, she asked me if I wanted to eat it there or to go. She must have noticed the confusion on my face because she pointed at four broken down folding chairs, lined up in the dirt, facing the truck without a table, and repeated«here or to go»? I asked for them to go and sat down on one of the broken down chairs and waited. At least ten other people showed up while I was waiting and ordered, most of them grabbing jarrito, opening them with the opener on the side of the truck and letting the bottle caps fall to the ground. That is when I noticed the ground was paved in bottle caps. There must have been tens of thousands of bottle caps covering a strip approximately a block long. Eventually I received my lunch and took it back to the job site where I devoured the best pupusas I have ever had along with all of the delicious sides that came with it. If you are ever passing through on highway four, this is a must stop.
