Great small airport with plenty of friendly pilots to hang out with. BUT… They really need to update their emergency procedures and do practice drills to ensure the safety of the pilots and surrounding community.

«IT IS WHAT IT ISN’t» cute little country airport in a big city!

Never been to this airport but driven past it a few times. Small airport means mainly GA and helicopters and rarely small jets (eclipses and small Cessna Citations). It has 2 runways. But would be hessintent to go to that airport due to gangs nearby.

Great alternative to LB airport for small planes. When LB grew to accept large commercial airlines, many private pilots were pushed out. Compton hangars are good sized and reasonable. They have an aviation school and the police dept. keeps their aircraft there.

Fantastic program for youth to learn to fly. Had a wonderful experience above the clouds and feeling the love.

I must admit I was surprised. The airport is in the middle of gangland, no kidding. This airport is holy ground since 911. It appears the local gangbangers fully understand felony charges and terrorist charges for breaking in an airplane and they keep out. The airport is GA only. No jets, no jet fuel and no tower, It has two parallel runways, short and shorter but in perfect condition in every way. The feel is small country town and very friendly with a ton of activity and almost half the hanger doors were open with people working on planes. The cost of a poor quality T habger is $ 400 without power. I would expect the rates to be $ 200 considering half are empty and the location is on the far side of the field. I would like to have a plane here for conversational value alone, but not likely. The EAA chapter is very busy and super accomidating/​friendly. There is a black owned flight school which is very impressive. They honor the Tuskegee airmen by maintaining red tails on all thier aircraft and by naming each plane after a T airmen. They even use nose art from the period.
I reccomend a stop and buy some fuel from the tank farm that looks just like a mini control tower. Fuel is cheap there. No food on the field and dont go off field looking for some. Taxi about and visit the local hangers. they have a death row for aircraft that are not airworthy; only four planes! this place is cleaner than any airport I have seen in the US.
All jokes aside. The airport is one to envy. Key note, there are bullet holes in multiple hangers from the locals shooting in the air on the 4^th of july.
