This place is a cool place if you’re trying to kill time, or need something to do that’s cheap or free. We decided to take the driving tour which is just a short 20 minute drive around this arsenal. We did see Buffalo and birds and the land is pretty. I personally enjoyed the drive, it’s relaxing and calming. If you are in the are check it out.

This is what colorado is all about! A former nuclear arsenal, this land has been remediated and saved for the future. It’s a true treasure to have these nice trails and wildlife so close to Denver. I’ve done the trails a couple of times, and saw foxes & rabbits– just wish I could’ve seen the bald eagles! Oh, and did I mention it’s free?!

Fun and free. You will see all kinds of animals at RMA. Bison tend to hide but if you take your time and and drive through a couple of times they will appear. Absolutely massive.

I was a bit skeptical of this place when I saw it from the outside but it was actually a really cool little area for a drive. I saw multiple deer, buffalo, coyote, and eagles. A must see if you want to see some wildlife up close for free!

This place was an awesome idea. It used to be a nuclear and chemical weapon research center that Denver turned into a refuge. They have this great driving 9 mile trail you can drive and part of it you can see Bison. We saw one bison, and that was really cool! We also saw a ton of prairie dogs sticking their heads out of the ground. If you are looking for 45 minutes to kill before going to the airport(It is like 15 minutes from the airport) I would highly recommend it! A great unknown gem of Denver!

Braved the freezing wind and took the bus tour yesterday and saw loads of animals. Saw 7 coyotes, tons of deer and bison as well as birds of prey including bald eagles. What a bargain-the tour is free! A really nice resource if you need an activity for the family or if you are interested in the site and the animals who live there.

Who knew this existed just 10 miles from downtown Denver. My friend and I checked it out on-line and decided to go hiking/walking here. There are no hills, but lots of pretty scenery with the city and front range mountains in view the entire time. They do free tours on weekends and lots of free activities throughout the year. It was interesting to read about what was made on this ground– war chemicals– gases and much more and now there’s wildlife everywhere. We did miss the tour so we didn’t see the buffalos, but within 5 minutes on the trail we saw a herd of deer hanging out nearby. This would be a great activity for a family on a budget.
