Cactus Salon and Day Spa

Grace cut my hair last week and I couldn’t be more happy! I brought in a photo of a previous cut i had and grace reinvented it. I usually wait to review until I see what the cut looks like when I do my hair myself and this do looks good even with bed head –ha! Im so thrilled I finally found an amazing local stylist and will definitely be going back. Thanks Grace !!

I had my first visit to this salon and I could not be more happy with my cut and color! Crystal knew just what I needed and did my color and cut in a very timely manner. The salon is well kept and the staff was super nice. I will be back for sure!

Do not go here for eyelashes. Laurie is not a eyelash girl at all. I had clumps of glue and called to tell them that my lashes are horrible. They tell me to come in and then she runs late, then she will take them off, not give me a refund. WtF I juts spent money getting lashes put on then paid you to fill them and no refund to get them fixed elsewhere? Be very aware of this place if you want to keep your own lashes. I went elsewhere and got them fixed 1.5 hrs later after separating them and paying again.

Horrible place. made and appointment for a perm. i told the receptionist i had very long hair, as i have had perms before and it costs more for longer hair. When i got there Jenny, the hairdresser, sat me in the chair and scolded me for not telling them i had very long hair when i made the appointment. I told her i had. She was annoyed and it showed thru the entire treatment. she cut my hair dry and horribly, then put the rollers in and what not. when i was done she took the rollers out and the top and front portion didnt curl, which she blamed me when i pointed it out. i was not happy and just wanted to leave. they handed me a bill for 200.00 (and I tipped nasty Jenny also). never to see me again. lol amateurs

Christine from the spa was a wonderful experience! She also uses hot stones. I’ve been to many places for massages and I can say that Christine is definitely a repeat experience on my schedule.

If you want to spend 5 hours somewhere and have your hair turn from ok blonde to orange brass and then washed out ghost blonde, come to Cactus Jericho Tpke Commack. Also, don’t forget to bring lots of pictures /​ideas that they will not look at. Also, be prepared to not be consulted about the style you want and be prepared to be blamed for having ‘that kind of hair’ when the colorist screws up. Be prepared to have your hair burnt by super hot blow dryers. Be prepared to have every excuse under the book thrown at you. Also, be sure that you don;t mind being shafted to the bottom of the list when you hair is clearly wrong (because they have other clients and we are really busy). By far, the worst experience I have ever had. Also be sure you have a good memory too as you may have at least 6 people touching your hair, none of whom will look at your preferred outcome pictures. Since when did my requested blunt cut become a commack housewife old Friends episode style. Yes, I walked out with half a haircut. I just couldn’t bear it any longer.
Tips for Commack:
1. Customer is KING
2. Consult with your customer on their requested look.
3. Advise the customer what you are doing when she asks. Note. When I asked what color the low lights were they were putting in to fix the hair, and how many, it was a NO NO question to ask the «head colorist» brought in to repair the damage.
4. Have your customer meet a max of 2 – 3 people during the course of their experience.

For my birthday this past weekend, I decided to treat myself to a deep conditioning treatment, a cut and a blowout. I checked Unilocal and saw that this salon had some pretty happy customers so since I found a Groupon for the services I was looking for; I decided to give them a try.
Katelyn was my stylist and she was a doll, she knew exactly what I wanted; the cut and blowout came out great. I have every intension of going back; I even scheduled my next few appointments in advance.

I loved my experience at cactus. I was personally greeted by the manager who explained all of the services the salon offered, but not in a sales pitch kinda way. The stylists, shampooer and front desk staff were all kind, friendly, talkative and constantly checked in throughout my visit.
I will absolutely be going back.

Assistants don’t seem to want to take care of customers. They ignore you until someone tells them to wash, rinse etc. lots of texting and smoking goes on while customers are waiting. Won’t go here anymore.
