This YMCA is apart of my fine childhood memory, I remember spending a lot of time on this YMCA growing up. That being said there is a lot of things that are still the same but at the end of the day this YMCA does provide a lot for its members as a community fitness center.

We had my daughter in swimming lessons at this location once upon a time, and she fondly remembers getting to ride in a boat(all the kids rode in a canoe during one lesson). What I remember is that nobody ever knew what was going on(came a couple times to find that the class had been canceled), that there were about 15 kids for every instructor(lots of sitting around and fidgeting, not so much actual swimming), that the chunky lady in charge of the aquatics area was a big ol’ bitch(condescending and unfriendly), and that we were often having to wade through loudmouthed teenagers to get to and from the lockerrooms(actually had to ask a couple of them to not swear in front of my then 3 year old). Save your money. Nobody at this location cares much about customer service.

Stopped by to get a run in at this YMCA on a Wednesday night after work, unfortunately they don’t allow guest passes after 4:00pm on Wednesdays, I am a YMCA member, but not with this specific YMCA, hopefully someone with some sense will review this ridiculous policy…

Good YMCA. It’s an older one, and certainly not as nice as the newer ones like in Delaware and Powell, but they’ve done things to improve the quality. For instance, they’ve been getting in new machines. Also, this location has a larger gym than the Powell and Hilliard locations, and has two racquetball courts. The sauna, steamroom, and whirlpool are also located in the locker rooms; that means clothing is optional — which means less laundry! The YMCA staff has always been incredibly helpful here as well. They even set me up with a lower rate based upon income level. I’m a fan.

This is my home Y, and while it’s not as glamorous as the the suburban Ys, it has many advantages. The classes for kids are well-run and never crowded. The pool is usually available for lap swimming, and the machines are up to date. And I love the diversity of the members.

This place has it’s ups and downs. The indoor pool is surprisingly nice and kept up despite the peanut budget. The weight room leaves much to be desired. The gym is actually quite nice and the floor is redone yearly. Overall, it is a YMCA built 40 years ago which is in a less than desirable area(this isn’t Dublin or New Albany). But the staff is nice and helpful, and it is hard to beat the price of a YMCA!
