Whitehall Barber Shop

Great little place to get your haircut. Owned by two brothers with a great sense of humor. I get compliments on my hair every time I leave. Real professions there. It’s my new go to barber shop. If they set up a camera in there It would be a hit reality show. Not to mention the great tv shows they have on: gunsmoke, Rockford files, six million dollar man, bonanza.

Whitehall Barber Shop is definitely your small old fashioned barber shop with a couple guys churning out cheap haircuts, but honestly $ 12 is a little steep for what you get. My regular barber shop was booked solid and I needed a cut for a wedding, so I saw the 5 star Unilocal rating and stopped by. It’s one of those barber shack buildings, probably 20’X20’, with walls covered in memorabilia. I don’t get anything too fancy, but as any guy who has pattern balding will attest, you need your wings clipped from time to time. I let him know the top needed to be longer than the sides, and I decided to get a beard trim for an extra $ 6, thinking it would look better than I could do in the mirror.
To begin with, he was more interested in the western on TV than with my haircut, but since I was faced away from the mirror, I assumed he was doing a good job. When he started on my beard, he kept crouching down in front of me over and over again, like he hadn’t done it before. When I finally saw it, he had gone way past the edges that I had already worked hard to maintain on my beard and it was really lopsided. I told him and he proceeded to take more off of the wrong side! At that point I just let him finish what he needed to and got out of there. In the end, he trimmed my beard much shorter than I told him to, made it lopsided, some how shaved a chunk of beard below the right side of my lip, didn’t leave the top of my hair longer than the sides and made my hair look lopsided.
I would not recommend going to this place, and even if you live close. I’m sure the barber shop down the road offering $ 5 haircuts would do as good a job.

Oh man is this place awesome!
Owned by two brothers who are as much greasemonkeys as they are hair guys. Pulling up in the modest parking lot, you see glimpses of old rat rods in the garage next door.
In the small shop (two chairs for the two guys), there’s a classic small town feel about the place, the walls are lined with years of memories, including things like a full snake skin, some prop gas pumps, and a classic register. Reading materials consist of old jegs catalogs, again car guys!
At just $ 12 a cut, it was one of the more reasonably priced barber visits as well. Not to mention it was quick, precise and again, friendly.
These guys are great, and I’ll definitely be back!
