I guess it’s a sports bar. At least there are a lot of televisions with sports showing. Rather than show games with the sound turned up to a volume that will leave your ears bleeding, they play music at a pleasant level. The beer selection is good. The staff is pretty nice and some of them seem like super cool folks. The menu is pretty diverse and the food is good enough. It’s usually not so crowded that you have to wait for a table. The fried chicken is pretty good.

If you are looking for a nicer sports bar this is the go to place! Clean and well kept interior, loads of big flats screens to watch whatever you want and delicious food and drinks!(Especially brunch!). The enclosed patio is also a great option when the weather is right. Service was solid, but not always perfect. However not ever a major problem or deterrent for going!

I’ve been here 3 times. It’s clean and a cool space but the bartenders are absent. Even when the bar is empty they spend time fraternizing with the rest of the free staff instead of serving. I left yesterday after 10 min without being waited on. Cool space, incompetent staff. I’d love to see new management.

I went here to check out the place for a work event so I was there between 3 – 5 on a Tuesday. The atmosphere is great for that type of event and the back room has garage style doors that open up for indoor/outdoor seating. The service was good, very attentive but not overbearing. They have a good selection of drinks and food. I had the fried pickles, hummus platter, and a bowl of their chili. The pickles and hummus plate was pretty standard apps. The chili was really very good. It was sweet and savory just the way I like it. I would probably get it every time I go there! I only had water to drink but everyone I was with enjoyed their drinks very much. Scheduling an event there was really easy and the manager was really helpful in helping us decide what we wanted to do for food, what kinds of food we wanted, how much space we needed, and really all aspects. They were also okay with us brining in our own cake for the party. The bar has a few tv screens above it but is relatively small. Overall seems very low key and a nice place to eat or hang out.

Two stars because the drinks and food were decent. Service is awful. Server came to our table once after ignoring us most of the night. Two salads took over 30 mins to arrive. Just not worth the trip from Victorian Village.

Had an absolutely terrible experience here last night with a large party. Service was laughable. One server with no backup from other waitstaff, bussers, managers, etc. Ironically, our large table was right in front of the host stand and the gentleman tending the space watched as my guess stacked and bussed their own dishes from our appetizers and empty drinks. Food was average at best but I may be overly critical due to the service lacking so badly. Worst part is I spent $ 650 on this dinner… which easily might have been hundreds more if the drink service wasn’t so slow. By the time dessert order time came, we were all ready to get out if there. What a shame… the actual building has potential but needs leadership.

Westies is surprisingly large, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen the East side of the restaurant open, so I’m not sure if it’s reserved for private events or if they just don’t get enough people to fill the space. This was one of the first restaurants I remember really advertising themselves as a gastropub in Columbus. I’m sure there were others, but I can’t recall them right now. At the time, I was really interested, but as more and more gastropub claims popped up around town, I just sort of said ‘whatever.’ I’ve drank here before, and I figured I’d finally give the place a shot for a Sunday dinner. The place was pretty dead, and the service was a little slow. The bar is massive, and they serve up a good beer selection. It is, after all, a gastropub. I skipped drinks and went with a buffalo wing appetizer. I do appreciate that Westies is sticking to some comfort food favorites unlike some of it’s brethren trying to get too crazy. The wings here were great, and I’d get the buffalo style again were I to come back. My half rack of ribs I had, on the other hand, not so great. I’m not sure why I get ribs at non-BBQ places, but they always draw my attention. They’re advertised as fall off the bone, but they were far from it. In fact, they weren’t tender at all, and I really had to gnaw on them to get the meat off. The BBQ sauce was okay, but even that couldn’t save the dried out pork I was attempting to wrestle off these bones. If you’re thinking about grabbing ribs here, you should pass. Maybe go with the Gastro Grilled Cheese that my girlfriend had, because that was actually decent. The fries that came with these were okay, but you’ll probably forget those pretty quick like I have. I’m sure this place has some decent choices, but they actually have a pretty large menu, so I’d be too afraid of the hit or miss to risk coming back again. It’s not close to me, and I don’t like wasting my time if I don’t think they make everything well. Maybe I didn’t do enough homework on Unilocal to figure out what the favorites are. If I ever come back, I’ll make sure to do a little digging.

Service was horrific. Saw our waiter maybe 3 times during our entire meal. Water glasses empty. Wine glasses empty. Beer glasses empty. Had to «Flag» other servers for refills. Food average at best.

Westies is one of my favorite places to eat. Great service, great atmosphere and great food. I’ve never ordered anything I didn’t like. They change their menu from time to time, have a full bar and lots of drink specials. Great patio, front and back room dining. There’s a very small parking lot, they do have valet, but there’s also a lot of free street parking. The pricing is reasonable. This can be good or annoying based on preference: there are tvs everywhere, usually with sports on, so if that’s your thing, you’re all set.

If you’re looking for a decent sports bar, Westie’s is a fine option. They have a ton of TV’s, a not terrible draft list, and decent food. But the service is not great and I would NOT recommend their complimentary valet service. We used it and when we went to leave, they had just left our car unlocked in the parking lot. After asking the hostess/wait staff, they dug around behind the bar, found the keys, and said«I guess the valet guy is gone…» Grateful no one took the shopping bags we had in our car from the trip we made before stopping in. Highly disappointed. Won’t return.

I’ve eaten here twice now and feel that I can adequately review Westies Gastropub. Some of the food options are unique and I mean this in a good way. It is always nice to see a restaurant feel free to get creative with their menu items. However, I must warn you that this may lead to you not liking every dish you order here… which is often the case when ordering something you’ve never experienced before! I can tell you that one dinner I had here was absolutely fantastic, while the second dinner was a little«off the beaten path.» Overall, this is a great location for a group of friends or a dinner date. The atmosphere is trendy and upscale while pricing seems to be medium-high. Service is excellent each time and seating has been plentiful. Beer selection was great which automatically earns them another star from me. Try it out and expand your bubble a little more than you are used to. Enjoy.

Not bad. A wee bit pricey for food that’s a little less adventurous than expected. The beer selection was solid. Services wasn’t great on a relatively slow night. A couple of the staff members were hanging around with this douche by the bar. He might have been an owner, or maybe just some rich regular. The guy looked like a douche. Probably drives a porche. I wanted a beer, but the bartender was talking to douche. I wanted to close out, but the bartender was talking to douche. Pretty annoying. Anyway, it’s not like I have to kill myself going back. I would say it’s cool to pop in if you’re in the area, but I’m pretty sure this place will be closing before too long. It’s just not going to compete. Too many Gastro-ish pubs. We need one that really knocks it out.

Tried Westies for the first time about a month ago and just recently returned. The restaurant itself is very nice. Many large tvs and a great interior setup. I was a big fan of the burger, Tony’s pasta and the New York Strip steak. Westies also had a nice selection of craft beer on draft. The only problem was that each time they were either out of an appetizer or a dinner entrée, however, the staff was able to recommend another option that was satisfying.

Finally made it to Westies! This place is the definition of sports bar. Half-inside, half-outside(covered patio) with TVs everywhere — even the corner booth had a TV mounted low into the back of another booth. If you’re here to see a game, you are not going to end up with a bad view — Westies has you covered. We brought my dad and his wife here for dinner. They are picky and unadventurous eaters, and the spouse and I have high expectations for food — «gastropub» is okay, but it better be good. Westies, again, had us all covered. Fried chicken, veggie burger, pasta and cheeseburger with fries — even our picky eaters were happy with their meals. They have a full bar(of course) and a good selection of local and domestic beers. Our server was friendly and helpful, and checked in at the right times during our meal. I would love to come back for patio dining, and soon.

I’m just not a fan of the upscale pub scene. This place is quietly located in the German Village area, so it will probably survive. Draft beer is $ 6 which is at least a buck more than it should be. They do have a nice beer selection, specializing in local beers. 24 taps, 10 of which are Ohio breweries. The menu is pricey unfortunately. Apps are 8 – 16 $ a grilled cheese sandwich is $ 9 fish & chips $ 15 burgers are 12 — 15 $ I have always said that comfort food rules in Columbus. This place caters to a smaller demographic than the average Columbus diner.

Patio + TVs + Beer = the perfect situation for some sporting event viewing in the summer I visited Westies to watch soccer on a summer evening. It was indeed the perfect situation to get a nice viewing atmosphere in the back patio area. The nice breeze, plenty of TVs, and ice cold beer… Ahh, yesss. The service was great. Our waiter made sure we were well taken care of and our drinks were never empty. Plus, the food was decent as well. We shared the hummus appetizer, which was pretty delicious. Then, I had the veggie burger, which was fantastic. I am pretty picky about my veggie burgers so that is saying a lot! This is an ideal place to sit for a few hours and enjoy. Oh, and the valet guy was awesome!

We’ve weirdly been here twice for Sunday random meals recently, and Westies did a nice job. The brunch is good, with interesting cocktails and a tasty, manageable menu. The chef came around with samples of new dishes, including some skillet donuts. It’ s nice to know that there’s innovation going on behind the scenes. The patio in back is very nice on warm days — there’s plenty of TVs for game viewing, a great beer menu, and a menu with enough variety for everyone to find something they want.

Went to this place with my parents and it is excellent. Scratch-made food, locally sourced, and a great ambiance. We went on a Saturday and they offered their brunch menu but we decided to go with regular lunch food. I had the Maytag Bleu Cheese burger which comes with bacon, bleu cheese, and some excellent onion topping that I’d never experienced before. Their fries are similar to any natural cut fries you could get at Wendy’s but still delicious. I mean, I like Wendy’s so whatever. My Dad got the Westies burger and he said it was excellent. My Mom had the Village salad but there wasn’t any lettuce. All veggies like cucumber, tomatoes, feta, etc. I think she would have gotten something else had she known there was no lettuce so she was a little disappointed but she said it was good anyway. My Dad had one of their draft beers too and it was reasonably priced at around $ 5. Not bad for a regular priced bev. As far as ambiance, this place isn’t too bad. It’s not too loud. I’m an old lady in a 29 year old’s body so I hate loud music unless I’m totally hammered. They have a ton of TV’s for sports folk but they aren’t turned up to an annoying level. They have them strategically placed throughout so you don’t have to turn your head 180 degrees to see one. I liked that a lot. It seemed like a pretty chill place. I think they have free valet parking too but I may be wrong. Not that I’d use it since I live pretty close. The only complaint I have was that our server was a little slow getting over to our table at first but once she came over, she was great and quick. They were a little short-handed, I think. Anyway, a well-rounded place with good food and a comfortable atmosphere. I like it.
