U-Haul at Broad & Central

A little off the beaten path but this is a stand alone U-​Haul that seems well stocked with trucks, trailers, and any supply you could ever need for your move. There was only one person working when we picked up and dropped off our truck, but the wait was never more than 5 minutes. Very reasonable prices for both the truck AND supplies… which we bought plenty of! If you need any moving supplies, including mattress protectors, stop into this U-​Haul store and get them for very cheap! We’ll definitely keep that in mind for the future.

Stupid, stupid me! I actually decided to rent a UHaul for a long distance move, going against my gut and all the horror stories and the company’s generally bad reputation for crappy equipment. This reputation proved 100 percent valid for my experience. Picked up the truck, and the loud groaning noises it was making prompted me to ask the manager if the truck had been inspected recently and was safe. Tank was only half full, which is super convenient when starting out a long distance drive. About a half hour into the drive, the rear brake and signal light went out in the auto transport. And we all know that’s safe driving through the mountains of PA. Then, every time the gas gauge hit half a tank, it would drop to empty and a warning light would come on saying «fifty miles to empty». So we had no idea how much gas was in the truck. Insanely stressful. And the company doesn’t care. I have received one phone call, insinuating I was not being truthful about the problems, and that the issues I reported were being investigated. Put your safety first. Rent from a reputable company.

I’m an artist who drove a 12′ trailer from Calif to this location in the process of bringing a show to the Col’s. Cultural Arts Center. I also rented a trailer for the return trip a little more than a month later.
This place is great! They’re efficient, notice details for the safety check, fixed all good to go. They’re honest. A little gruff, maybe. I’m a 61 yr old woman with grey hair and appreciated their professionalism and lack of ageism. Hooray!
Use this place. They called to confirm, were flexible, didn’t charge me one of those fishy «cleaning» fees and were honest. Mostly they do U-​haul, which means that they’re not a gas station or some such where it’s far more likely to have an «off» experience. I’ve rented trucks and trailers for years… the tales I could tell! I ALWAYS do the walk around together and have the contract carefully marked of old dings, of course, so that the drop off somewhere else is without unexpected charges. Now there’s a tip for you.
Again, use this place. They are worth going a little extra distance just to do business with.
