There are some basketball courts and a playground but overall nothing to rave about. I gave it two stars because they have a climbing structure that my 3 ½ year old daughter really liked. There is also a tire swing, which is different from some of the other parks we’ve been to. The playground is small and somewhat limited. The bridge with the green side and the similar structure to the left in the picture above is no longer there(must have been torn down). I wouldn’t go back even if I’m in the area. If I was in the area I’d go to Goodale instead because it has a bigger playground for kids and it’s much more beautiful.

Thompson Park is rather large for an inner city playground. Taking up an entire block, you can swing slide and play basketball here all year long. Walking around my neighborhood I always see kids playing in this park. They are roughhousing, running, and shooting hoops together. Looks like fun! I am glad this park exists, because it can give the suburban parks a run for their money. I highly recommend the monkey bars. As a grown up you may find that your distribution of weight and height makes these a whole new challenge. The slide is fun during the winter when it can double as a luge. For basketball, this is a court where you can always count on people ready to challenge you to a pick up game. Thompson Park, because the suburbs don’t own the market on cool playgrounds.
