I love this place. I wish I lived closer to the North Market so I could go to here more often. As it stands now, I am taking gleeful part in their Farmer’s market bag service. And since my office has hit the required number of subscribers, they deliver the bags to the office! So, I get to support local companies, get really fresh produce and be lazy at the same time. This is a win-win.

If you don’t live nearby then no matter how good and healthy the goodies are(organic, pesticide free, etc.) it is not cost efficient. But if you live nearby or are in the area fairly often then this is a cool place to get your green on. Very friendly and helpful staff and a nice assortment of produce. What I loved the most was their different honey offerings and grains. Good honey, really really good honey.

The best produce you can find in Columbus short of belonging to a CSA. I am convinced of it. I enjoy the selection, suggestions, and Ohio products they carry. Especially of note is the board that indicates what produce is local on any given day. Awesome. I also try to get my Snowville milk products here, as it’s cheaper than Giant Eagle, and you get to support a local business. Great! I have found interesting varieties here, in particular some great little red velvet apricots. I fell in love with them when I set eyes on them. They looked like something out of a picture book. A bit expensive, but a nice treat. I also really like the small bags of herbs you can buy here. I so frequently get way too much at big box stores, so the amount from the Greener Grocer is perfect. Also, the herbs(like all the produce) last longer, much longer than stuff from the big stores. Finally, the service is great. Any questions you have about produce, they’ll know. Need suggestions? They got it. Heck, they’ll even let you know if that tomato you’re buying isn’t the most flavorful one they have. How great is that? Yep. The Greener Grocer is my pick for produce purchasing!

This review is specifically for their Large Bag CSA program. I just started this week, so I will update as we go along. I love the idea of helping local farmers as well as local companies(especially in the current economy). However, I also can’t break the bank while doing it. So, doing the large grocery bag of veggies seemed like a good idea to me. I started a bit late in the season, and I wish I would have looked into it earlier, but there is always next year. This week we got quite a good variety. The quality of the products was decent as well. You could just smell the produce and it was like it was just picked. To me, that is wonderful. We also got some cheese, apples, and cider in this weeks bag which was nice. However, I am taking off one star due to the fact that I honestly don’t think the large bag contained as much produce as I thought it would. I will have to go and get some additional produce this week if I want to eat a good serving of veggies every day as well as my daughter(2 year old) and husband. I don’t know if they were lacking in the amount of produce they had to distribute this week, but I will continue to monitor and hope that this is something we can continue for summers and falls to come.
