I’ve now had this food twice. Both times at land grant so if you’re looking for it, look there! Really a big fan of this place. One of the few pizza trucks out there, because it’s pretty hard to do pizza on a food truck(turns out). The bacon and pesto pizza is without a doubt my favorite. Hot. A fresh! But what really blew me away recently was their ice cream float! They make soda in house and this time I had their lemon ice cream topped with a vanilla and lime soda. Light, refreshing. The perfect summer treat! Definitely trying the sodas from now on.

If they ever have the bacon pesto pizza on the menu… Get it. I’m ashamed to admit that I lowered my expectations for this pizza truck. I must have been scarred from so many terrible fair pizzas as a child, but I expected mediocre and what I got instead was delicious. The concept is brilliant. Using a flat top grill to cook pizzas. Even Mikey’s can’t tout that. It’s mostly pizza ovens. Many will shake their fists and call blasphemy at this next pizza statement, but dare I say it… It was on par to the northeast 161 pizza God«Borgata». I really must have caught them on an awesome day. Normally this place sets anchor at Land Grant in F-Ton. Normally I crinkle my nose and say«meh» but I seriously may consider them next time I walk by. Prices were to be honest… Average for«gourmet» pizza. Just a tad more above your chain joints personal pizza pricing. Only downside… Ginger soda… Bleck. Just not a fan of ginger anything and their sarsaparilla was long sold out, but I will forgive them this time. Seriously try it. It’s not that terrible.

I have only ever seen this food truck parked at Land Grant Brewing Co. I hope that this three-star rating isn’t taken as a low score — the pizza here is pretty good! I guess overall I just feel like the pizza is priced a little high for what you get. A 9 inch pie can cost between $ 7-$ 9. I tried my friend’s pie which had caramelized onions, shiitake mushrooms, and arugula, and while I did like the combo of toppings, it felt like it needed something… perhaps a drizzle of balsamic glaze? I also had the flatbread sandwich of the day, which was all of the same toppings as her pizza but it included scrambled egg. While it would have been messy, I feel like an over easy egg would have been much more tasty. The pizza crust here reminds me of pita bread — it’s very light and chewy, and the thickness of the crust is very close to pita. Pizza and beer are a match made in heaven, and I totally get why this truck is here so often. Perhaps I am just a cheapskate, but I think ultimately I’d rather order a pizza from a shop in town and get more bang for my buck.
