This place. Run, don’t walk, and buy everything inside. This is the best homemade bread I have ever eaten. I have yet to find anything else that compares and at 3.50 a loaf! HOLYSMOKES!!! If you are a whole food warrior like myself, this is the place for you. Not one preservative, GMO or artificial anything found in this place. It’s just like you made it yourself. Oh and if you have toddlers/little ones, the slices are thin and just perfect for kids eating sandwiches for the first time. This is the only bread my 18-month old can eat. Simply amazing. The inside is a little barren, but don’t let that stop you. They do a lot of call-ahead/restaurant orders so they really don’t need to have fully-stocked shelves. Regardless, there’s plenty to choose from and I guarantee you’ll never buy bread from anywhere else again. Oh, and don’t forget to try a donut.

Not sure where this little magical bakery is, but I’ve discovered their flax crackers. They’re nutty flatbread cracka heaven! Doesn’t matter one bit that I have no idea where this operation exists because I can get me my Stan Evans all over town: Clintonville Community Market, Hill’s, Weiland’s etc. And now I’m so spoiled that I can get them added to my bi-weekly Green B.E.A.N. produce delivery! Yay! My favorite cheeses are never without a carbo-friend these days.

I had high hopes of Stan Evans being in a nice area in Grandview and was sure they were closed. No lights on, empty shelves, there was one muffin, 2 types of cookie and elephant ears and bread in a freezer that is it. Still wanting to try it and the lady working there being very nice I bought the muffin, one of each cookie and an elephant ear. All was old, hard and not sweet at all. The prices are great, the food just is not so I won’t be going back.

I have nothing but good words about Stan Evans Product. My favorite are the flax seed crackers… like heaven! I eat them as snacks. One thing Stan Evans needs is a website and some marketing. They need to let people know they are out there and a great photographer(me) to do some image work for them. But I love the store, love the food and love the purpose they are.

I’m not sure about Stan Evans bakery. They’ve been around a long time but their cases are looking a little meager. But the cookies looked good so I bought a half dozen. Hope business picks up.

Stan Evans as a walk in bakery is not pretty. In fact there’s flour on the floor, half filled shelves, and no one at the counter. I was hoping for some cookies that I could bring to a cookie exchange(baking isn’t a quality of mine). However, walk in’s clearly do not pay the bills. It seems that special orders are their specialty. I was very happy to see Vita Spelt pretzals though!!! Whole Foods has stopped carrying this brand. So now I know what to expect. If I want something(or am hoping) for something specific, I will order in advance. If I want whatever spelt products they have available, they I think I’ll be in luck. Three stars because of the lack of customer service, not accepting of credit cards and because I haven’t experienced the call ahead method yet.

When I pulled the doors I was surprised they opened. The place inside looked so dark I was thinking it was either shut down or closed for the day. But lucky me, it was open and after a few seconds someone appeared and chatted to me about this bakery. It has been in Grandview for years and while it does sell to the average customer like myself, it does most of its business through wholesale/bulk. I could be going nuts, but I think he said they supply the breads/pastries for all Cameron Mitchell’s locations. I must have come in at a bad time because the shelves that would normally contain breads and pastries(I presume) were nearly empty and the lights seemed to be on only in half of the small store. I asked why it was so dark and he just said that it was Saturday and they don’t get much traffic in on game days… energy conservation… Anyway, I am happy to have found them as they would be great suppliers of party foods on the cheap like their packages of flax seed crackers. They also would be helpful to those who have intolerance to wheat as they carry Spelt– a bread made with organic spelt flour. Loaves of bread are between 2 and 3 lbs and have no shortening or oils, no eggs or milk products, no preservatives, additives or colorings.
