Dr. Simmons saw me when I found myself with a ¼ inch stone stuck in my right ureter. The ER at St. Francis actually was my first option, as the pain struck rather suddenly late on a Saturday night, and I made my way to the emergency room at 1am Sunday morning. They performed the CT scan and found the stone, gave me some pain medication and suggested I give it a few days, as it was not so large that it wouldn’t pass. If it hadn’t passed in three to five days, the ER doc(Dr. Hu) referred me to Dr. Simmons. Well, I gave it three days, and by Wednesday evening of that week I was tired of living on Vicodin, so I called Simmons and Crosse Urology Thursday. They made an appointment to see me Friday morning, and after a quick visit and conversation with Dr. Russell Simmons, we decided that surgery was the way to go. So, I was back at St. Francis that afternoon, having a laser lithotripsy. I’ll talk about my(positive) experience at the hospital in another review. Dr. Simmons was kind and communicative, and his staff is top notch. His nurse explained everything that was going to happen in surgery and what would follow, all the way up to the removal of the ureteral catheter two weeks later — which was done in the office. I’d recommend Dr. Simmons and his team to anyone that is unfortunate enough to need any sort of urological care!
