This is a lovely gallery in the Short North that, like many others, I’ve walked past multiple times. However, this year I was on the hunt for a blue glass Christmas ornament, and after seeing posts on the Short North page about Christmas window displays, popped over with a SBB certificate. I was met by the owners and the gallery dog mentioned in Matt W’s review. After spending several minutes browsing the entire front window display, I found what I was looking for! There were no problems accepting my certificate, and they wrapped it nicely in a protective box. If you’re looking for decorative glass or a pretty ornament for a gift, this is your place!

I never went to PM Gallery’s old space, but I love their new location! Right in the heart of the Short North, the old brick and hardwood floors make a perfect frame for their collection of local art, hand blown glass, wooden kitchen tools, unique art, and ceramics. Plus, they have the cutest and friendly gallery dog in Columbus. (He may, in fact, be the only gallery dog in Columbus. That doesn’t matter. He is still the cutest. This is a fact.)

This has always been a favorite of mine and so many have faded away, and closed up shop recently. They are right next to a crappy little neighborhood bar, and have beautiful glass ornaments in the window. I have a number of items from this store, but I will admit that they have an eclectic variety of items crammed into the small space. Not everything will appeal to you but a group with a wide array of interests can be happily occupied wandering around. My favorite item purchased from this store is a 3D puzzle made of molten bronze that has been carefully dripped and poured over itself, then polished and heat treated. It’s a great art piece as well as conversation piece. Children always love to dump it out on the coffee table and then get bored with it, so I have learned to put it back together without too much trouble. That being said, once you have been in here a few times, you probably don’t need to return frequently unless it is gallery hop or you are looking for something interesting to brighten up your space or as a gift.

I would consider this place more of a craft store than a gallery but whatever you call it there are some good finds. As I entered I was greeted by a friendly dog and staff. After sifting through magnets and other chotskies, I came upon some nice hot glass and fused glass jewelry pieces. Good place for unique gifts, just a bit cluttered. Don’t wear a backpack or big jacket you just might bust everything in the store if you try to turn around in the aisles.

Underneath its decidedly shady, run-down exterior(and interior, for that matter), pm gallery is really a cool place where art and home décor meet. The store is filled with gift-worthy pieces — carved wood bowls, ceramics. blown glass, and other handmade items. This is a great showcase for artisans in Columbus. Plus, the prices are pretty reasonable considering the stuff is handmade. It’s just a shame the place has to be so cluttered. Otherwise, I would have given it four stars!

pm gallery was the first gallery I fell in love with in the Short North. It was the spinning glass orbs in the front window that first caught my eye and brought me through that rusty old door into a space packed floor to ceiling with art, art, and more art. The blown and leaded glasswork at pm is colorful and unique. It’s a great place to shop for Christmas ornaments or for a little something for the window above your kitchen sink. I also admire the multi-colored glass octopi. I envy the ceramics at pm. I wish I could create pottery so beautiful. Not only is each bowl, plate, and mug handmade with flair and astonishing glaze, but they’re all mighty durable. Heavy, not dainty. pm has paintings, photographs, and the like as well, but glass and ceramic art is what the place is really known for. pm is particularly cool because it’s the oldest surviving gallery in the Short North with twenty-eight years under its belt.

Yeah, I’ve walked past PM Gallery a million times without ever entering. Not sure why. Maybe because the front of the gallery looks a little run down. PM seems less gallery and more store. The overall presentation is severely relaxed. It’s crafty in there. Handmade without pretension. There are tons of little handmade whatnots that are a little pricey, but not fine art pricey. I think it serves best as a gift shop.

You have probably walked by PM Gallery many times and just glanced at the window. It is so worth it to actually leave the pavment and go inside. I love how breakable and delicate this store is. Walking inside at first makes you want to whisper. The glass ornaments and sculpture give the store a museum like feel that begs for appreciation. The glass balls are my favorite and PM Gallery has them in all shapes and sizes. I was surprised at the sheer amount of glass items the store holds. I don’t think I have ever seen this much colored glass in a store that wasn’t selling«tobacco» products and lava lamps. I liked the perfume bottle section and wanted one even though I have no idea what I would use them for. The ornaments are something everyone should keep in mind for last minute Christmas gifts. They would also be great for that forced secret santa co-worker that you don’t really know but are required to buy a gift for. The store clerk was nice and not pushy. Leaving us alone and only offering help when asked. The prices were of course expensive for the more complicated pieces but affordable for the small. Check it out, but with caution. This is not the store to stumble into after happy hour.
