Fantastic. Best steak for the price. Living in Columbus for 6 months and have eaten there about 6 times… Perfect steak each time… Have tried all cuts and all are fantastic! Recommend the filet and the ribeye. We moved here from Tampa and Old Hickory was better than the steaks at the world renown Berns Steakhouse.

Really enjoyed eating here. Tried to go on a Friday night but they were lined up waiting to get in, so I went back earlier on a Saturday night and got a table no problem. My waiter was friendly and helpful. I ordered the t-bone medium well. I like my steak pink in the middle and they cooked it perfectly. Included was a salad baked potato and Texas toast. Delicious. Hope to go again before I leave Columbus.

Walked in with my wife and was greeted promptly by the waitress behind the counter. We immediately found ourselves waiting in line waiting to be seated, after a few minutes a waitress told us to follow her and sat us down and asked us to wait on the waitress so we did, she soon had us drinks and salads each. Do to how busy they were we had trouble getting service after our order of the(sirloin for 2). We then sat until the steak was delivered to our table. We then began to receive more prompt service as the restaurant had emptied out some and we were the last customers in the room to have fresh food. Other than the 15 minutes without«proper» service(we was still getting occasional refills) the visit was great! The steak was wonderful and cooked to order and everything else went flawless. Just think they need to slow down when it gets busy and take care of each individual customer like a close friend. We will always go back! They are friendly hard working people with great food!

It took me two time to find it but it was worth the wait. No drills just good steak. I could have eaten mode but the small ribeye steak I had was cooked well. I loved that the salad and potatoes comes with your steak what a deal. And the best part — cold beer in a can with a frosted mason Jar. I now have another reason to get back to the Columbus/Starksville MS area.

If you want a proper steak in Columbus, this is a place to go. I haven’t had this wonderfully cooked meat anywhere else so far. They use proper grill with wood. Salad sucks, cheap beer is in a can, but steaks is delicious.

Some steak houses get their fame and their reputation by décor, some get their reputation by Service, Old Hickory Steakhouse gets his reputation: fully by the taste of the food only. Service and décor get the B rating, food taste? Is there a higher rating than A +? This place seriously rocks and is so much better than anywhere I have ever eaten. Seriously, the food here rocks and is absolutely awesome. Too bad Old Hickory steakhouse does not exist in a big time city…

What a wonderful hole in the wall. I found this by mistake but I will be back when passing through town. The menu is very simple and I love that. Steak is all they have, salad with ranch dressing and a potato. Not many choices but food was damn good. Menu is not kid friendly but they accommodated. They only serve can beer and it’s a select few. This is my kind of place. Make sure you stop by and soak in the atmosphere.

Long term customer. Don’t come for the décor or ambiance. The steaks are the attraction and the best in town.

This is the definition of a hole in the wall restaurant. But my god is the food good! The menu is simple, steak and a side. Go with the steak every time because they cook it just the way you want it over a charcoal grill right in the front. Prices range from $ 18 – 30, so very reasonable.

Columbus is a small town, and this place his clearly a local favorite! The menu offers, steak, steak and steak. The restaurant itself is rustic,

I eat here almost every week. It looks like a hole in the wall, but they do indeed serve the best steaks in town, and the people are super, super nice. They don’t sell dessert. A large ribeye, baked potato, bread, and sweet tea will run you $ 23 before tip. But it’s worth it.

One of the best steaks you will ever eat anywhere! While working at Columbus AFB we ate here twice and it is excellent. I would give it 5 stars if the menu had more options but, it’s pretty much a meat and potatoes kinda place. The Filet is so tender you can cut it with a fork. Tonight 9 of us went there after work and everyone was really impressed. So 4 Stars overall but, if it were on taste alone… this would be a 5 Star Steakhouse.

My colleague and I were a little worried about the«$$$,» but ignore it this place is worth every penny. What it lacks in charm and ambiance it more than makes up for in the quality of food. This was our last dinner during our week of work and I am glad that I saved it for last or it would have ruined every other meal this week. One of the best steaks I ever had. The menu may lack any frills, but the baked potato was cooked to perfection, the garlic toast was crispy and tasty, and most of all the filet melted in your mouth. Ordered my steak cooked medium and it was cooked to perfection. I literally could cut the steak with a fork. Will be back for another business trip in March and it is more than tempting to eat every dinner at Old Hickory. Put this one on your list.

When I travel I LOVE to find a place that is off the beaten path. I found the Old Hickory Steak House totally by accident which proves the word«accident» is not always bad! The Old Hickory Steak House is yet another establishment that really does NOT need any Unilocal Help. The man who owns this place speaks only the language of fire and meat. It’s a silent primal language so shut-up and listen. The Old Hickory Steak House is not very big at all and if you are not looking you might miss it except for the billowing clouds of delicious smelling grill smoke going up into the air when you drive past it. And this alone nearly caused me to do an illegal U-turn just to get back! The parking lot is small and hitting it off of a busy road must be what it feels like to be a Navy pilot trying to drop a plane on a carrier deck. OK. Maybe not but you get the idea. Slow down or you will hit the curb. Now, when you get there and pull up the place has the feel of some kind of roadhouse shack. You can see the steak chef through a large window grilling steaks over an open fire with flames leaping through the grate and large slabs of tasty, mouth watering beef steaks of varying cuts resting on different areas of the grill. I can’t quit talking about that huge fire grill in there because if you know anything about grilling meat then you know that when you see a steak chef who has grill areas of different temperatures, he knows what the hell he is doing! The beauty of this place(yes I just used the word«beauty» to describe meat seared over an open fire) is that the menu is SIMPLE ! Do you hear me? Its one page only and half of that one page menu is different cuts and types of steaks. The other part of the menu is for drinks including beer. The next parts of the one page menu is for salad with only three yummy dressings and potatoes. Oh yeah, and the different stuff that goes on the potatoes. GOTIT? That’s all. Now it is kind of dark inside the place where we sat near the grill so you will have to squint to read it in the firelight but no worries. Me and the boy have been doing some traveling this summer and this was a great«Dad and Son» pit-stop. That would be a Hickory Pit-Stop! We ordered the T-bone Steak medium rare. The STEAKWASAWESOME! Cooked on the grill tender, tasty and to PERFECTION. We also got the loaded baked potatoes with butter and sour cream and the fresh, crispy salads with the three yummy dressings. We tried all three yummy dressings. The fave was the blue cheese. And lets talk about that potato. That is one DAMN tasty genuine Idaho potato and it was really good smeared through the steak gravy. Oh yeah and huge pieces of buttered Texas toast also kept the boy happy. If you are a vegetarian you will not like this place and you will especially hate your meat eating friends gushing and blushing as they chew the delicious tender pieces of your imagined animal friends being cooked on open flame behind you! Just lighten up, OK?! Beef cattle are not an endangered species and they are not cuddly or even cute. Besides, I am an unapologetic, unrepentant caveman whose only danger to you is when he is hungry and being told not to follow his instincts. And really if you think about it, we ARE on the same page because I love these animals just as much as you do but in a VERY different way! Can’t we all just get along?! Actually, I don’t care whether we all get along or not. The Old Hickory Steak House is worth the extra time it will take off the road to slow down and have a meal. And dads should take their sons here and sons should take their dads here. Me and the boy left happy, full, and with a high energy meat buzz heading down the road to our next adventure singing old Johnny Cash songs at the top of our lungs. Life is good ! Eat it cooked over an open flame! Do it at the Old Hickory Steak House!
