This was an excellent book fair! I knew I’d be spending a lot on books, and was lucky to walk out with as few as I did. There were seminars by authors, and in the main room each author had their own table to display their works. There was a good mix of fiction and non-fiction, and I picked up several cool titles. Some I had already heard of, some were new to me, and I can’t wait to read them all. Admission was free, all the authors were happy to talk about and sign their books, and Sweetie and I became«famous on Instagram» when one author posted our picture with her book. We had some great conversations. These are our people– when we told them we have a library in our front room, they nodded in understanding. When we told how we got engaged at the the Main Library and married at the Thurber Center, they got it. Plus, being Ohio authors, it’s kind of a small world– I got the Kahiki book and talked about going there; chatted with the author of a book about the Dayton Air Fair, which I’ve been to many times; found out one of the authors works at a museum I’ve been to; and talked about the town Sweetie’s dad is from with someone who wrote a book about the area. It was very cool. We even met the guy who draws«Funky Winkerbean.» We had to take a break in the hotel lobby to recover from the overload of awesomeness.
