how i have not reviewed this place yet is beyond me. this is my favorite asian joint in Columbus hands-down. I’ve had numerous entrees here, all very nice. expansive menu… my personal stand outs are the Tom Yum soup, Szechuan and Pa Naang. all the veggies are lightly cooked and fresh, meats are pre-marinated, and the sauces are all definitely made in house. the Szechuan even has flecks of roasted chilis or onions floating around. the place is super unassuming. maybe 20 seats in the whole place, but most of their business seems to be Togo. good tip here, pay cash on Togo and you get a 10% discount– very nice. so if your near grandview(which has plenty of options in this area) and want some top notch chinese or thai food, look no farther!

I went here today after reading Mike G.‘s review and others, and thinking I was going for my first time. But as soon as I walked in the door I realized I’d been there before. 10 years ago? Twenty? I don’t know, but it’s the same place. Very small, a little dingy, not fancy. But excellent food. I got something from the«Thai Specialties» section, the Thai Dried Sukiyaki. Not sure what was dried about it; maybe just the noodles were dehydrated? Anyway, it was great. Came out steaming hot, and stayed hot the whole way through. I had pork in it; there was plenty, and it was flavorful and tender. The vermicelli were very sticky and infused with flavor. The veggies were decent. There’s also a little bit of fried egg. I asked for medium heat, not knowing what their levels would be like, and it turned out to be enough to open my sinuses but not overpower the flavors in the dish. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Portion was pretty large, and it was super cheap. Service was okay; I didn’t need much, and they seemed busy in the kitchen. Pop is in cans. Parking was in a tiny lot, but luckily it wasn’t busy mid-afternoon. Might be crazy during a rush. True Asian comfort food, at rock-bottom prices.

Ordered Chicken Pad See Ew and it was delicious. The noodle has the right firmness and I love the sauce. Not really a good place if you are looking for a great experience dining in since the place is rather dim and not nicely decorated.

I ordered the chicken pad Thai spicy(you can choose how spicy your dishes are which is awesome) and it was arguably the best pad Thai I’ve had in Columbus. It has cabbage so that’s a little weird but still very strong flavor and good quality pieces of chicken. Their Chinese food is just so-so so I stick to the Thai menu and have yet to be disappointed. I highly recommend the spring roll as well.

I absolutely LOVE Nongs! It is my go to take out place in the area for delicious Thai food. It makes me sad when people review them for their Chinese or the fact that they even advertise themselves as a partial Chinese restaurant, because the family is in fact from Bangkok and they know Thai. The owners are super friendly and always happy when we come in. They know our order and it’s so great to have a family owned business in town that tries to get to know their customers. Go to dishes are the Tom Ka Gai– which is one of the best I’ve ever had. They add a twist to theirs and skip out on a traditional ingredient by making their own blend of herbs(so we’re told) which consists of some galangal and other tasty things. It is actually quite delicious vegetarian as well. The Pad See Ew is amazing as well. This is one of my go to Thai dishes so I’ve tried it out at a lot of other places too. They have the perfect blend of soy sauces, oyster sauce, and the rice noodles are thick, rich and on point. It had Kai-Lan(Chinese broccoli) to add texture, along with carrots. Talk about comfort food! Yum. A new favorite of mine is the Gang Sub-Pa-Ross, which is pineapple, coconut milk, tomato, and curry paste which sounds bizarre as can be; yet this dish is just a warm your soul, melt your worries, sweet and spicy, treat. Something about the curry and pineapple mixed together add the most unique flavor which is unlike anything I’ve ever had. I love this with chicken too. It has the consistency of a thick soup. It can be eaten almost like a think soup or I love to pour this over a heaping pile of steamed rice. If you are looking for a boojie Thai place, then Nongs is not the place for you. This is a hole in the wall, for sure. The décor is a mix of Thai collectible-like items, religious Buddhist mini shrines, outdated tables, and a funky, but charming fish tank. Although the décor is not swanky, you should eat there if you ever want to not to take out. There is a sense of warmth that comes from the back of house and the employees alike, that just makes you feel so welcomed. If you do want some of the best Thai in the city, go here!

I had the spicy pad thai which was great, didn’t necessarily care for the egg roll. I would definitely go back again.

Terrible food. Everything tasted like cardboard and had zero flavor. I’m not sure why they ask if you want fried rice, because either way it has no taste. Its just a way to charge you more than the already ridiculous prices. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and asked if it came with vegetables or pineapple. She assured me it did not, just chicken. I got 4 pieces of tasteless chicken with peppers, carrots, onions, pineapple, and tomatoes. In addition, we heard a microwave while they were cooking our food. I do not recommend this place at all.

This is pretty much my favorite Thai place in Columbus. I’ve never tried their Chinese food though. It looks fairly Americanized, so it’s probably more to cater to people who want Chinese take out food. I haven’t seen glowing reviews for their Chinese food. So back to the Thai food — their curries and noodle dishes are some of the best I’ve had. They have the perfect balance of flavor, consistency, and texture added with whatever spice level you would like. The décor is not much, and it’s not impressive looking on the outside or inside, but seriously, you can’t beat the prices and taste of their food. Take out is always an option, and they look like they’re family owned. Everyone has always been very friendly. If I’m not wrong, I believe it’s 10% discount if paying in cash for take out!

This restaurant may be advertised as Hunan Chinese, however their Thai dishes are some of the best I’ve had in Columbus. I’ve only ever tried their Thai dishes so I can only comment on these, however I’m sure the rest of the menu is great as well. The Pad see ew was delicious and had the perfect level of spice. I had it with beef which was succulent and juicy. The egg noodles were cooked delightfully and had a good flavor from the beef. The Lad Na was also fantastic, with excellent cuts of all white meat chicken. The vegetables tasted fresh and wholesome. I also absolutely love their Thai iced tea. It is the perfect level of sweetness meeting just the right flavor from the Thai tea leaves. Worth a try! I would definitely recommend this restaurant as a hidden gem for Thai and Asian cuisine!

Nong’s has been my favorite Thai food for a long time. The pad thai is my favorite in Columbus(I’ve tried a ton) and the pad see ew is excellent as well. On top of that the owners are so personable. It may be months between calls for take-out or stops for lunch but they remember my order, where I’m from, talk with me about my business, and ask me about my favorite football team! The no frills dining room and the people make this feel like a quaint neighborhood spot you discovered.

I bet it’s been 10 years since my last time here and it hasn’t changed one iota. It’s a small place with a dining room probably smaller than your living room. Restaurant was kinda cold even though I sat half way back from the front window. Seat was ice cold although a few minutes of butt contact it warmed up just fine. I got the Phad Thai with Shrimp which was pretty decent(ordered medium spicy and it was). Portion was generous and had a nice mix of flavors with the noodles being just the right in between of firmness and chew. The Hot and Sour Soup was not the greatest but adding a little soy sauce helped it out. The lady that waited on me was super nice and took great care of me. And that’s my short and sweet review folks.

We ordered yellow curry and Tom Yum fried rice. The yellow curry is cooked in American way. I have tried many Thai curry, and Indian curry, and this is «Nong’s Curry», the one and the only one, it is the worst yellow curry I’ve ever tasted. Tom Yum fried rice is too greasy. First time visit, but bad food… Recommended in Grandview: Yellow Curry Tofu, from Thai Basil on King ave. Tainan fried pork-chop with rice, from Aloha Hawaiian BBQ on W. 5th Ave. Wide Rice Noodle/Drunk Noodle w/Beef, from Coco’s grill on W. 5th Ave.

This was the only Chinese/Thai place around that was open on a Sunday, so we decided to try it. Portions were huge, but extremely bland. I got the Sesame Tofu and my boyfriend got the Sesame Chicken. His didn’t look anything like Sesame Chicken — wasn’t breaded… sauce wasn’t what you normally see for this dish. I thought the veggie eggroll was good, but my boyfriend didn’t like it as it had a cinnamon taste to it. It was definitely different. I can only comment on a few menu items, but what I had was so tasteless. Sesame chicken should be a staple that any Chinese place can do!

Holy moly pinch me I’m dreaming. Yup, it’s that good. Everything is amazing. With food that delicious, I would expect pompous, even passive service. But no, they are so polite and genuine. I literally had a dream about eating Nong’s last night(after having it for dinner). And I was eating it with my former asian gourmet hero, PF Chang.

Went here for the first time last night and was pleasantly surprised. The place was dead when we got there and picked up before we left. The food was good, I got Cashew Chicken and my friend got their spicy soup. The crab rangoons we shared were pretty good. I would definitely go back!

I tried this place out for the first time today and was pretty disappointed. I got the General Tso’s which is kinda my go to item to determine if a place is worthwhile or not. I was excited to try this one because it had so many vegetables in it. In the end, the addition of the vegetables was a moot point though. The chicken was over breaded and over cooked. The sauce reminded me of hot and sour soup which might not be so bad for those who like it but was rather off putting for me. Overall it was just kind of, blah. I got the feeling that this was more of a Thai place, but if that is the case then EMBRACE it! Why have Chinese dishes on the menu if you aren’t going to give them any attention. I might try Nong’s again and get some Thai food, but I certainly won’t ever get anything else.

Love Nong’s! What’s not to like? Good food, friendly people(who remember your order even when you haven’t visited a while because you moved away), and hole-in-the-wall ambiance!!! We always get the pad thai and the pad-see-ew. We also pay cash when we take out, because they give you a discount! Nong’s, come to Bexley!

I come here for just one dish and that dish is the Gang Curry. I love it. I love anything dealing with peanuts and curry. Man on man. What I like about Nong’s is that they aren’t afraid to actually add some heat to their food. It’s the perfect amount of spice. An even better tip is to order take-out. It seems as if they give bigger portions in a nice plastic container that can easily be put in the fridge for later. Oh, and their aquarium filled with big chunky goldfish are adorable.

Here’s my update… I like it so much, I went back and here’s what I’ve deduced. This is a GREAT Thai place and a mediocre Chinese place. The Hot and Sour Soup was neither hot nor sour. I could even help it out with soy sauce. The Pad Pedt Thai dish? Excellent. Long story short, I’m sticking with Thai food here…

Nong’s has the BEST egg drop soup. Yes, I know, it’s just egg drop soup, but after having Nong’s, I don’t like any body elses. Maybe it’s because no where else makes a fresh soup for every order? What’s that I say? Yes, They make it fresh to order! They also make their egg rolls from scratch. They use organic tofu and alot of organic veggies. As for their main dishes, I feel like they are 3 stars. Just A-OK(a very decent pad thai), but for the service and the soup, 4 stars for sure. The people that run Nong’s are super nice. It’s a really quaint restaurant with only a few tables. I think they do mostly carry out. Their carry out containers are really sturdy. You’ll not want to have to use the bathroom at Nong’s unless you want to walk through the kitchen and be crammed into a room smaller than an airplane lavatory. But, everything is clean and that’s awesome. I think Nong’s is a place to give a try and get the egg drop soup for crying out loud(it’s only $.1.75). I am no expert on Thai food, but I have heard their Thai soups are great too.
