Mother Clucker’s Chicken

These chicken tenders are the BEST! I have never written a review on Unilocal and in the middle of eating these chicken tenders I had to stop to pay my gratitude. If you’re drunk or just have a hankering for ‘drunk food’ this is the best choice out there. I’m going through a breakup and I believe these chicken tenders with sauce and AMAZING cheesy fries have gotten me through it all. YES. YES. YES.

Absolutely awful experience with this place. My husband and I ordered delivery with them on our recent trip to Columbus. We were quoted 45 – 60 minutes delivery time, and after an hour and 15 minutes of not hearing from them, we gave them a call. The food took another 15 minutes to arrive and when it did, my husband discovered that his order had been made incorrectly. He called the restaurant simply asking them to come back with a correctly made sandwich. The guy on the phone said he had to call his manager and find out what to do. Fine, no problem. My husband was on hold for ten minutes, after which he hung up and called back only to have the guy tell him he spoke to his manager and «there was nothing they could do.» They refused to come back with the correct order and they refused to return to give him his money back. Unfortunately we paid in cash so we cannot simply dispute the charge.
Now, I am not the type of person to waste my time writing petty reviews about restaurants that weren’t 100% up to my standards and post them online for everyone to see. Not only that, I am in the restaurant business and I am usually very understanding and forgiving. The food took an hour and a half to get ten minutes down the road – I understand that places get busy and that sometimes, stuff just takes time. The sandwich was made completely wrong – I understand that accidents happen or instructions get lost down the line of communication. But how on earth do you tell a customer who’s just paid good money for your product that he is screwed when the thing that shows up isn’t what he ordered?
My husband was told he would receive a call from the manager but never heard back. When we attempted to call the place back about when the manager would be contacting us, the guy on the phone who we had been dealing with the entire time PRETENDED TO BE SOMEONE ELSE and feigned ignorance about the situation. Ridiculous. Do not waste your time dealing with this place. The food that arrived (that was made correctly, that is) was mediocre at best.

I am SOOO EXCITED RIGHT NOW! Many of you guys probably have heard of Cluck U, well when they closed a piece of me died on the inside. For years I have been longing for their sweet honey dipped chicken! Well I happened to be driving down High St. and I see a place called MotherCluckers. I immediately pulled over and Google’d them. And just as I had suspected they are the same thing as Cluck U, the same staff and everything! I almost made an illegal U turn out of pure excitement. I placed my order via my cell and they told me 15 minutes, I swear it felt like Christmas morning when I got my food. The Chicken Fried Fries are BOSS!!! The Honey Bee rolls are still awesome. They gave me a huge chicken breast! I will be at this place on a weekly basis. Chicken 1−5=5. Fries 1−5=5. Honey Bees 1−5=5. TRY THEM… I DARE YOU!

A few days ago, I had a menu placed in the screen door of my home. Coming home last night (Sunday) slightly buzzed, I see it laying there on the coffee table… PERFECT! But wait! It’s 10:30pm on a Sunday, are they open? Again, glancing at the menu, THEY SURE ARE! And, they deliver till 3am!
I placed my call at 10:32pm and ordered 6 bone in wings and 6 tenders. I was quoted 45 – 60 minutes on delivery. An hour goes by without a doorbell ring or phone call. I called back to check on the status and the guy said they’re busy but the order is on its way. An additional 22 minutes later, the door bell rings. The Unilocal map says that I’m 2.8 miles and 8 minutes away. Being in the industry, I still tipped $ 5 on a $ 14.50 order. Whether they were really that busy or they didn’t start my order until I called back an hour later, this is definitely an area to improve on.
Now to the food: I’ve ordered take out wings before from the big pizza companies and usually toss them straight in the trash. A lot of places don’t keep their fryer grease temperature high enough to crisp the skin or breading. It’s usually slimy wings that I wouldn’t feed my dog. These wings were an exception and I was pleased with the quality. They could have been a little crisper but were definitely edible. Next time, I’ll get the sauce on the side and see how that works out. As another poster mentioned, they should take a little extra effort and label the containers with a Sharpie marker.
Biggest Pro: The late night delivery hours
Biggest Con: Long delivery time (An hour and 22 minutes to cook 12 wings and drive them 8 minutes… need more drivers?)
Keys to a successful late night chicken joint:
1) Hire friendly employees
2) Keep your fryer grease clean and hot enough to cook properly
3) Work out the logistics so that you can delivery hot food in a timely fashion.
I’ll give 3 stars for now, but bump it up to 4 if the delivery time improves upon my next order.

Of all of the disappointing late night food my husband and I have ordered, this may be the worst.
The late Tuesday night deal is 45 cent wings and so we ordered 24 wings, 4 flavors and an order of fries. The wings arrived in four separate containers, but no labels. Oh, and they are all the same relative color with pretty similar flavors… and the flavor is no good. The fries were limp and tasteless but doused in mounds of ketchup they felt edible. I won’t even tell you how much we hated this food later that evening/​the next day. But it was unpleasant enough to know that we will not be returning. Short and sweet — if you hate your taste buds and your digestive track, this is your place!
