Excellent service and food but like every other steakhouse it has an ala carte menu with even the dressing for the steak. Of course all the veggies etc were extra. Rib eye and Caesar salad were top quality. Perfect place for business entertaining. Artistically decorated walls and ceiling. Not for the faint of finance. For those in need of carnivore dining I would give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Don’t eat here unless you want to pay a lot of money for mediocre service & food and become violently ill. Ate at this location last night while in town visiting my son at OSU. We ordered soup and salad that were served to us very quickly. They were good, however the bread was cold and tasted stale. Seems like we waited quite some time for our entrees. All four of us ordered fillets, and three of us asked for them to be cooked medium rare. When we cut into them each of them was cooked differently, no consistency. I ordered the fillet Oscar with crabmeat and béarnaise sauce. My plate was cold along with the asparagus, crabmeat and béarnaise sauce. The steak was lukewarm, not as though it just came off the grill. I sent it back and I’m pretty sure all they did was microwave it and replete it. Myself and the other person in our party who had béarnaise sauce on their steak became sick overnight. Instead of spending the day with my son, I’m stuck in my hotel room. I will never eat here again. We always eat at Hyde Park and that’s where we will go in the future. Very disappointing experience.

For the money you spend, they should pay more attention to the food quality. It’s in a great location and very chill atmosphere but when I ordered the high-end burger, I went out of my way to ask that it be well done, with no pink meat. I even asked the server to confirm that she wrote it down correctly. It came back mostly rare(it’s really unhealthy to eat red burger meat — e coli risk). They didn’t come back to check for awhile so my companions were done eating before i could bring it to the server’s attention. They offered to buy us dessert but the real meal was already ruined.

My 19 year-old son and his girlfriend went in last night to celebrate her birthday. He had a $ 75 gift certificate to Cameron Mitchell’s restaurants, and they did not accept it, apparently no longer being owned by Cameron Mitchell. Very disappointed with how it was handled.

Interesting steak house. Had an early dinner here with business associates and it was good. Had a chop salad and a filet with a couple glasses of wine. Good but not great. I would return next time in Columbus. Give them a try and see what you think!

We went for dinner after work and we were shocked with the service, the waiter was rude and treated us like we are some sort of commoners who got lost on their way to McDonald’s. I asked him how’s the fish in here and he said you’re in a stake house and you should know that, but our fish is ok. The same treatment with my friends. We don’t need the attitude, we can order anything we want and it doesn’t have to be a steak! The food wasn’t great and I told the waiter and his reply was: I told you to order steak, the fish is not my favorite, you should should get a steak in a steakhouse. My friend ordered a bottle of wine for $ 75 but the manger said that was a typo on the menu and the actual price is $ 125, he didn’t even offer the bottle for the advertised price and said that we should order a cheaper bottle. Never coming back again.

This is a great steakhouse in downtown Columbus. The team I work on has gathers here 2 times each month and I find that the food is well prepared and very consistent. Try the Lobster Bisque. Other favorite lunch items are the Shellfish Cobb Salad and the Salmon Caesar Salad. Highly recommended.

Every time I come to Columbus I am forced to go to Mitchell’s by my carnivorous friends. I am not rating it based on the steak, I had a plate of overcooked veggies for $ 19. What I am complaining about is the surly slow service that comes along with the over priced food/drinks. The last time I was here, they basically goofed up our whole table’s order — forgot this and that, I think at one point our waitress left and went grocery shopping or something… she was gone for a very long time. The ambiance is very nice and relaxing — I just don’t care for the service for that price point.

I have not been here since it was sold about a decade so ago, too long to adequately compare or contrast how it has changed. Five stars is a fair rating, but I am going with four, say four-and-a-half. Reviewed to death with most still valid, I’ll do this bullet points style. –The building once was a pre-war bank and its elaborate ceiling mural and wall fixtures gives the place a classy feel. Wear your best cloths and you’ll still feel underdressed. –The steak is still fabulous. As is the bread and salads. –Had Mushroom Toast and it was a rich and fungal delight as such my tongue had never seen. I mean it was the best such mushroom on bread dish I ever had or could imagine, even magnitude better than The Wine Bistro whose related dish I was already in love with. –Service was on the spot, tight, and perfectly synchronized with our needs. –Had their macaroni and cheese with lobster tail and was underwhelmed. It came with whirly pasta in lue of elbow which was a nice change, but the cream was weak and runny. There was little cheese taste and the lobster was breaded a notch too much. There are better versions for less at various pubs in the short north. –Offers a wide range of drinks especially cocktails and wine. They need to up their beer selection, though they may not want to go that way for branding issues. Pretty much still an upscale cornerstone of the downtown scene.

My girlfriend and I went to Mitchell’s downtown Columbus for Valentine’s Day. Nice romantic setting. The staff was great, and the food was amazing. Hands down the best steak I’ve ever had. Would recommend this place to everyone.

My boyfriend and I visited Mitchell’s for an 8pm New Year’s Eve dinner. We arrived a bit before our reservation and enjoyed cocktails at the main bar. They were perfectly mixed and very delicious. The price and quality actually surpassed my expectations, as it is not uncommon to find $ 11 cocktails on menus all over Columbus. I enjoyed a couple of the Strawberry Basil Gimlets and he went with two of the«Dirty Goose Martini» — truly the best dirty martini I’ve ever tasted. The ambiance of the main dining room and bar are nothing short of palatial. Softly dimmed lighting and infinitely high ceilings really set the tone for the entire experience. Detail work from the building’s historical past as a bank creates something to notice at every glance and immediately sets this place apart from the modern/rustic/industrial we’re so used to seeing. Unfortunately when we were seated we were taken away from the main dining room and seated in a brightly-lit room that held no more than 8 tables and had the feeling somewhat like a den, though not as cozy. Cue the disappointment. Despite the seating situation our service was superb and we definitely never felt forgotten. Their wine list seems to have something to please all palates, though I would caution against some of the lower-priced bottles that clearly had markups over 200%. We opted for the Daou Cabernet, which was delicious. Our server allowed me to taste a bit before we committed to the entire bottle. One thing I noticed was that the year we were served was different than the year listed on the menu. Not a huge deal since the wine was amazing but just something to note as wine qualities can vary year to year. I had been dreaming of a filet for weeks prior to our dinner and it did not disappoint. The cut and temperature were perfect on both of our steaks and I sliced through it like butter. We opted for the crab and bearnaise topping with a side of asparagus and it was simply delicious. Other positive takeaways from the meal: The sourdough bread was a basic starter but tasty and helped with the initial cocktail and wine buzz. For salads, I thought the Chop Chop was amazing and would return regularly simply for that. My date enjoyed his Wedge salad as well. Some not so positives: The mac and cheese is just simply not good here. The flavorless sauce was very thin and relatively nonexistent. Compared to other steakhouses like Capital Grille, this one just does not cut it. Our server graciously took ours back to the kitchen for a bit more sauce but overall it was just bland filler for the meal. Sadly they also ran out of the dessert we had been saving room for(who runs out of crème brûlée?!). Again, our server was very kind to apologize and bring us back espressos on the house. Overall we had an amazing meal and cozy date night to ring in the new year. We will definitely return to this location for future special occasions — I just may request to sit in the main dining area next time.

Worst waiter experience ever. Some of the issues with our dinner was because he was also being utilized as a busboy, but still he was quite distracted. Food was so so. The restaurant was beautifully decorated but they need to rethink their wait staff and food. Huge disappointment.

Hands down the best steak I’ve ever had in my entire life. The menu is «a la carte» so you order your piece of beef and then sides that are served family style. The fillet mignon I ordered was to be medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. If you’re looking for a romantic night out or a place to have a nice business dinner, GOTOMITCHELLS.

Many moons ago it was insane. At one time I would have rated this my favorite steak house in the US. Today I would call it a Morton’s cookie cutter. The service was great. You expect that though from a place like this. Our waiter R…, was fantastic. Knew the menu, friendly and on top of making sure anything we wanted was taken care of right away. He was the highlight. Drinks were always kept full and delicious. Sides were very good. A complaint I had under previous management from 2004 – 2008. They were never bad before, but these were better. But you don’t come here for the sides. Steak. Ok, this is why you come here. Once upon a time they cooked their steaks at 2200f. Which seared the steak and created this thin crust and was amazingly juicy inside. Honestly I don’t know if they still claim to do that, our waiter certainly didn’t mention it if they do. If they had claimed that I would call BS. The steak was nothing special. It wasn’t bad, just slightly over cooked and dry. Again, it wasn’t bad, more than anything I am comparing this to the old kitchen and management. Once upon a time it was run by gods. Now mere mortals.):

Love Mitchell’s. Never disappointed. I met a friend there yesterday for lunch. The restaurant opens at 11:30, made a reservation for the same time. It always fills up fast at lunch. The whole experience was great as usual. I ordered the chicken special with mashed potatoes and broccoli. My friend ordered the bacon wrapped sirloin. He said it was good! The service, atmosphere and food are always great. Love that it is two blocks away from my work downtown and I can enjoy at lunch. :)

Everything was fantastic! The waiter was very helpful, explained the options of the menu. I was very surprised at the ease of sharing side dishes and salads. Substitutions in the 3 course meal was also easy. we had the tuna appetizer, wedge salad, wife had the scallops and I had the 16oz rib-eye. We shared asparagus. We don’t eat in these types of restaurants often so not a lot to compare it to. We definitely want to go back.

Mitchell’s is a fine restaurant, on par with other mainline prime steakhouses(Ruth’s Chris, J. Alexander’s, The Chop House, etc.). A good menu of nuanced cocktails, with modern twists on some classic favorites, such as the«New Fashioned,» which I had. Food quality is good – what one would expect from a prime steakhouse. Nothing so outrageous that one definitely needs to eat here, but a good steak is always appreciated. The mac & cheese is particularly tasty. The atmosphere makes this place! It’s in an old bank downtown, and the modern, almost neo-Deco design is a nice contrast the old, beautiful sculpted plaster ceilings. I’d go back, but more for the atmosphere than for the food.

Went here last night for a work function. We were limited to their $ 49/person private function menu, so I had their lobster bisque and their 7oz filet mignon with sides of broccoli and mashed potato. The food is good. But it’s more like Outback Steakhouse good. A steakhouse that charges $ 49/person per meal needs to be GREAT, not just good. Yes, I’m being picky– but when a restaurant charges as much as Mitchell’s does, they need to be better. A truly great lobster bisque is made with a whole lobster, the head and brains and all. The lobster bisque here tasted like just cream with pink food coloring and 3 tiny pieces of pre-packaged lobster craw meat thrown in after the fact. I’ve had better lobster bisque in the buffet line of a Brazilian bbq. Why do I think they use pre-packaged lobster claw meat? Because their lobster dishes all clearly say«Caribbean lobster», which do not have claws. I’m guessing they get their Caribbean lobster as just the tail, and the claw meat comes from elsewhere. The steak was tender and plainly but well seasons with salt and pepper. But aside from the fact that it was likely tenderized via wet aging, it didn’t taste any better than a filet that I can buy from Sam’s club for $ 11.99 per pound and grill at home. Also, I ordered my steak medium rare, and it came out medium well. Once again, that would be ok at Outback, but not ok at all at a prime steakhouse. The side of broccoli was basically just pre-cut pre-packaged broccoli that was boiled and served with a side of bernaise sauce. The sauce was good, but the presentation of the broccoli was unacceptable. When you get bulk pre-cut broccoli from wholesale, the broccoli pieces are all cut rather unevenly… some pieces are 3x the size of others. And this is what we got at Mitchell’s. I wish they’d cut the broccoli pieces all equally. I ended up getting 1 humongous piece of broccoli on my plate while my dinner companions got 3 smaller pieces. Once again, this might be ok at a cheaper restaurant, but not somewhere like this. The side of mashed potato had the consistency of store bought powdered potato and was flavored with just butter. They didn’t even bother to add parsely. Lastly, we ordered cheesecake TOGO, and we were brought warm chocolate melting cake on a plate. When we reiterated that we wanted our dessert to go, the waitress rolled her eyes at us and gave us the same warm chocolate melting cake with vanilla ice cream(already half melted) on top to go. It being 80 degrees outside, the ice cream was completely melted before we even got in our car. Good thing work paid for this dinner, because I would never pay $ 50 per person for something of this quality on my own.
