Honestly the best Japanese steakhouse I’ve eaten the soup is perfect along with the salad teriyaki chicken and rice are all cooked in front of you. The chef offers entertainment while skillfully preparing your meal and others that surround you at the grill. Rankings to other places second best is Fuji steakhouse off veterans and shoguns off Whittlesey Boulevard.

Good food, not worth the price. When you eat Hibachi you expect to be entertained a little by the cooks, we weren’t. Would have totally rated this place higher if it weren’t for what happened at the end. We were there with our daughter who was in her car seat so we were using a highchair. The other guests has left and we were enjoying the last bit of our beer when she came over and asked us to give her the highchair cause another customer needed it. Super rude! Were we not paying customers? Honestly regret not telling her to bugger off.

The food here was just average, nothing over the top. The spicy tuna roll was good, the spicy trio i had was gross, drenched in mayo. My son ordered from the hibachi table which he liked. The service was very attentive and friendly, my son and I sat at the sushi bar.

Typica hibachi nothing to write home about. They have a good sushi selection the chef was really nice. Overall a good time. I didn’t like that they charge 5 dollars to sing happy bday and give you a picture with pineapple to eat. We asked if they could just sing and chaos happened.

Love Hibachi! This place is another great Hibachi in Columbus. Service was very friendly and nice. The place is clean as well. We ordered steak and salmon and chicken. All were cooked to our likeness including the taste :-).

Had Hibachi with the spider roll. Everything was delicious and the wait staff was friendly and attentive. I have tried other Hibachi grills in town(Fuji and Shogun), but this one has been my favorite.

Friendly staff, food got out fast enough, no complaints there. Only ate sushi and it was the best I’ve had in a long time. The seafood volcano roll was delicious and I highly recommend it.

The food was decent, typical hibachi. The sushi was good. Unfortunately my friends and I ordered the dinner portions but did not receive salad or soup with our meals. We saw the people beside us being served these items and asked. We were told that yes, there had been a mistake and that we should have asked for these items(we didn’t know we should have gotten them). A woman who I assume was the manager told us she would credit us the cost of the soup and salad off our bill, but this was not done. We felt insisting on a measly $ 6 would have been rude so we didn’t bring it back up, but saying you will credit something and not doing it is what rubbed us the wrong way(it was not credited). We may return or we may go to Shogun.

The sushi chef was really nice and liked baseball. The tiger roll and miso soup are the best I’ve had.

This is, in my opinion, the best sushi you will find in Columbus. I’ve been pretty spoiled in terms of food diversity since I grew up in the LA area, and I tried sushi at a lot of places in Columbus before I found this one and was satisfied. I know most people come here for the hibachi grill but I think the sushi is better. The service is pretty friendly, and even though I was usually the only one eating sushi at the hibachi table, my food still came out in time for me to eat with everyone else.

The first time I ate here was in December 2014. I shouldn’t have taken so long to post. lol. I really enjoyed it and it was memorable, so much so, that I want to go there tonight. I have been to several hibachi places here since I moved here 2 years ago, and this has been the best, so far. I didn’t eat the hibachi, only sushi. It was good, and surprisingly BETTER than I expected. My ten-year old had some kind of tuna rolla. I think we had dynamite roll, too. If I’m not mistaken there were 3 different ones that we had. Whatever it was, we enjoyed it and it tasted fresh. :)

Not bad for Columbus, GA. The employees are nice and attentive, the hibachi chef was great, and the prices are comparable to other hibachi restaurants in the area. The salad does not have the standard ginger dressing, the miso soup was more beef broth than miso, and when you ask for chopsticks, the employees will look at you like you’re a weirdo. I can’t comment on the sushi because I didn’t partake in any, but the hibachi filet mignon was tender, flavorful, and cooked as ordered, and the lobster was tender and flavorful as well. Overall, not too shabby!

This was a diamond, let me tell ya! The shopping area gave me a bad impression when it was dark on a Friday night. But don’t let that fool you. It’s hard to find the Japanese restaurants where they cook in front of you, and this one was great. For those who don’t know, it takes a while to get to your main course. But they kept me going. The only thing that I didn’t like was 1) there wasn’t a great selection on domestic beers and 2) the service was lacking. I think the girl serving us was sweet, but she was distant and aloof, you could tell her attention wasn’t there. As a matter of fact, she screwed up a «table» of 4 a couple times(drinks, and the sushi they ordered). To be honest, I think the system they have in place is a bit inefficient, so be expected to ask a lot of clarifying questions, and double check everything! They had everything else right, but this was the biggest drawback.

I visit Columbus regularly and always make a trip to Mikata’s sushi bar. It is surprisingly good. The rolls are average but the hand made pieces are excellent. High quality fish expertly molded into delicious sushi.

I am from Atlanta and came to Columbus for a business trip. I was in the mood for some hibatchi so I found this place in a strip mall. The staff was really nice and I was seated immediately. I ordered a couple of martinis and the steak and calamari with fried rice. The soup was just ok and the salad was yummy with the Yum Yum sauce… again standard fare for hibatchi in my experience. The chef was entertaining and did all the usual tricks. Prices were in range with most Japanese steakhouses that I have been to. What I liked about this place was the veggie selection. I liked the shredded cabbage and carrot in addition to the regular veggies. Our chef did a great job on the fried rice and I particularly liked the horseradishy mustard like ginger sauce that came with the Yum yum sauce. It was a nice change from the usual teriyaki. The pomegranate martini and mandarintini were yummy.

Been here many times with the family. Never had a bad meal yet. They are just like any other hibachi restaurant. Everything is good, but nothing really stands out. They have special sushi items, but were out of them each time that we went there. This is just your typical Japanese place.

Today was our family’s first visit to Mikata and it may very well be our last. First let me say that the food was fairly yummy– we ordered both hibachi and sushi. But the service was very poor and extremely slow. It was odd that the waitress said she didn’t know anything about Sushi. None of our sushi wasn’t served until after we were finished eating our hibachi meal. Further, one of my husband’s rolls wasn’t served until after our kids finished their dessert. They were very accommodating for an allergy and it is very clean.

I was in Columbus on business and craved sushi. I walked in and sat at a bar table next to the sushi bar. I sat for 10 minutes without being greeted by anyone. Nothing. I got up and walked out. I also notice there was only one sushi chef serving the entire restaurant. This place needs works.

Standard Japanese fare… sushi was good, but the service was soooooo slow. I got the caterpillar roll, spider roll, and spicy hamachi roll. I also ordered a side of fried rice. I give the food 4.5 stars, but the service gets a 2 out of 5 because they told me that I could pick up my food in 30 to 40 mins, and it took over an hour. It’s good, but not great. I only ordered sushi, not the teppanyaki dishes, so I’m basing my 3 stars on just the sushi experience.
