I was a little taken aback by this place. Gorgeous landscape, nice building and yet the parking lot was tiny. People had to park on the grass. If you have a banquet room where you can host weddings, then perhaps ample parking may be needed. The room is pretty but dated. Their serving staff was nice. They were dressed appropriately and very neat and clean in appearance. As someone who used to work in banquet halls, this is nice to see. Then there were the bartenders. One bartender looked as if she hadn’t bathed or brushed her hair in several days. It was noticeable to the point where people debated whether she was on something. When I asked another bartender about the white wine options, I was offered a White Zinfandel. I am not expecting high end wines at a wedding banquet hall, but I do not expect to be offered blush when asking for white. The food was ok. Typical banquet fare.

This is a nice little course just north of Madison in Columbus, WI. The front nine winds around a soybean field and a little water — notably #8 and all the water on the right(watch out, slicers!). The first half of the back nine snakes back along the front nine, but then you cross the highway to hit the last four holes. Number 18 is very tricky — it takes a pretty straight tee shot to stay safe. Off to the right and you’re in a rocky chasm with no hope. Left is lined with houses and bunkers. Have fun! Even if you end up in the fairway, your second shot is probably long into the green, with bad news behind and to the right. Best to land short and roll onto the green if you can. A few years ago they had some really bad flooding and two of the holes were damaged pretty good, but they bounced back better than ever. The groundskeepers did a great job. All in all, this is a fun course and worth the time. For the drive, I wait for a good deal before going that far. But when they run a special, I have no qualms about heading up north for a round.
