Hayden has been cutting my hair, and cutting and styling my wife’s for probably 3 years. I’m terrible at making decisions, so when I tell her she’s the boss, the result is always much better than I could have asked for. We have two young daughters now who will be visiting Hayden very soon, and we recommend her to anybody that will listen!

I have been going to Jacquelynn at Kenneth’s for a little over 6 months now and the difference in my hair is unbelievable! Her cuts/styling are top notch and a great value considering the services you’re being provided. Jacquelynn is so friendly and has a wealth of knowledge in the hair care industry. She has suggested products that I now use daily without being pushy(Side note: the products are SO reasonably priced given the quality, ~$ 15). When I go in for a cut, I typically get the European therapeutic elixir which is a conditioning treatment and it leaves my hair so soft and shiny. I have yet to have my hair colored by Jacquelynn, but just by discussing coloring options with her, I can tell you that you’re in good hands!

I love the Kingsdale location of Kenneth’s– Small and intimate. I regularly see Olivia for both waxing and nail services. Olivia is awesome. She keeps the conversation light and comfortable but also lets you enjoy the service. She’s professional, gives great tips for maintenance between visits and is a joy to see. I look forward to all of my appointments with her.

I started going to Kelsey about 3 years ago when I moved to Columbus(after I tried a couple of other places before and wasn’t happy with the results) and am SO happy I found her! She does great work on my hair and she’s always up to date on new techniques and styles to try which I so appreciate. Not only does she do wonderful work on my hair, but she’s a total sweetheart and I love spending an hour+ with her! I can’t recommend her enough!

Expertise and environment After getting situated in Columbus, I was very uncertain about where I would find my next hair appointment. Hair is a touchy service, especially when you have difficult hair. I arguably have unmanageable locks — very long, natural, thick, wavy hair. It is difficult for me to get a quality cut. Thus, I trust very few when it comes to maintaining my hair. My friend had a fabulous experience at Kenneth’s. She has extremely easy-to-manage hair, but she did full color, ombré. Her hair was perfection. If this person could do a great job with complicated color, they could probably handle a difficult head of hair. She gave me a referral. I don’t color my hair so I was just looking for a nicely layered trim. The referral gave me discount on my first appointment. I scheduled with my friend’s stylist, Jacquelynn. Jacquelynn is incredibly friendly and truly an expert stylist. She fully assessed my hair and made several suggestions. One suggestion was for a deep conditioning treatment. I’d highly recommend it. My hair came out very soft and smooth. It also brought out my natural highlights. Her cut was fantastic and thoroughly done. She really makes sure it lays right and looks healthy. The salon itself is beautiful. It is very classy and clean. All of the stylist dress exceptionally well. Plus, every client looks beautiful leaving the salon. Pricing was fairly competitive. I don’t expect to get out of a cut under $ 50. They offered a lot of additional products. I haven’t purchased any yet, but I would consider it in the future. Overall, the service is exceptional and I make regular appointments.

After my experience, I would suggest to NOT make an appointment at this Kenneth’s location on a Saturday! My stylist was triple booked– working with me and two other people at the same time. As a result, my cut was rushed and I sat under the hair dryer bowl for over 30 minutes(after a simple trim). I left the salon with hair that was half styled and flat. Literally one half if my head was curled and the other wasn’t. Not to mention the technique she was using to curl my hair with a flat iron was really rough. Maybe she didn’t know how to do it… I don’t know. I would have said something about being half styled if it weren’t for her other client sitting in the chair next to me looking annoyed. Also I was worried about my hair being pulled and damaged. I expect to leave a salon with hair that looks and feels better than a bad hair day! I have had two prior appointments here with different stylists on week days and had better experiences.

This salon is close to my home and offers all the services I need. I can’t rave enough about how much I appreciate the haircuts and stye that Jacki(Jacquelynn) has given me for over two years now. I am the sort of person who doesn’t set appointments well in advance because of my schedule. I do every so often, wake up with a bad enough hair day requiring an over haul. This habit isn’t conducive to setting appointments, nor going to the same person over and over. I have however, made an effort to wait until Jackie is available because she is super thoughtful when listening to what I want done with my hair and intuitively seems to know how to style it best for my face shape. For me, the salon experience isn’t about the space(which is small, but still nicely laid out and modern– and they can ALWAYS fit me in spontaneously), but it’s mostly about the stylist. Jackie listens, but is fun to talk to and very sweet. I am not joking when I say my repeat visits to her is a world record for me … She’s got herself a loyal customer!

I’ve gone to Kenneths on-and-off since college, and always return for their superb customer service and talented stylists. I’ll be honest – I’m always on a budget, so up until this year I only hit up the Sawmill Training Academy. But this year I met an amazing stylist, and when she left for her permanent salon, I had to follow. Danyel is the stylist I will be sticking on from here on out! I met her at the academy and she did a phenomenal job on my hair. I am South Asian, so my bone structure and skin tone sort of limits me on what I can pull off in terms of a hairstyle and still look professional. Danyel combines what I am looking for with what actually works. She really seems to take her time with styles, and will give you tips on what you can do at home to make the most of out your hairstyle. Obviously I am not a very girly or hair-oriented person so I will end by saying if you are in the market for a stylist you can trust, check this girl out. The prices at Kenneths are very reasonable, and the cuts re worth every penny!

I visited the weekend of my friend’s baby shower and fell in love. It is clean, professional, and luxurious from the time you walk in until the time you leave. I can’t remember my stylist’s name, but she took her time and transformed my hair from a dry, crunchy mess into a sleek bob. I’d had a bad relaxer that didn’t take a couple weeks prior to my visit, but that didn’t deter my stylist. I also bought some straigtening gel(the creamy, orange stuff) and it is MAGIC. I put some in my hair and blow dry it and it looks like I’ve had a professional blowout every time. I wished I lived near this place!

I love this salon for so many reasons! It’s bright and clean, the front desk staff are super friendly and helpful and the waiting area is comfy and well stocked with a variety of magazines. But the two biggest reasons I keep coming back are Kristi and Olivia. Kristi keeps my hair looking fabulous and she’s great to consult with when I’m not sure if my daring beauty plans will make me look wonderful. This morning she helped me figure out my wedding hairstyle and I was so happy when I left, I hugged her. Olivia is a nail artist and esthetician. She does impeccable work and spending an hour with her is like spending an hour chatting with a friend, only when I leave my nails look gorgeous! While you always get a consistently good experience at all Kenneth’s salons, the relationship I have with these wonderful ladies makes every visit a treat.

PROS: Kristi Royal. I’ve been going to her since I moved here from Chicago a year ago. She is an absolute gem. So sweet, always listens and gives me what I want(but never without her candid thoughts, which I love), and never tries to oversell me on anything, which I REALLY love. If it’s not time for color yet or if she thinks it’ll damage my hair, she tells me. Which makes me realize she has my best interest at heart, and not just upping my bill. THIS makes me loyal to her and will keep me coming back. CONS: What on earth kind of salon charges extra for a blowout/style after you’ve already spent $ 100+ on color? THIS policy drives me absolutely insane. For a place as nice as Kenneth’s, it rubs me the wrong way and irritates me more & more each time I go in. Because it doesn’t say, «we’re a fabulous salon that takes care of our clients, and this is a luxurious spa-like experience.» It says, «we are going to nickel and dime you all the way out the door.» I walk out of there every time with sopping wet hair just on principle. Because I refuse to pay $ 30+ to have someone blow dry my hair, and I refuse to spend $ 50 or whatever it is on a haircut when I don’t need one(blowout is complimentary with a cut). I’ve heard that this is a standard practice in Columbus, but I don’t care. I still think it’s an absolutely TERRIBLE business move, and if that’s what everyone in Columbus is doing, then it’s even MORE reason for Kenneth’s to offer a little something extra that no one else does. The incremental business would MORE than compensate them for the 10 – 15 extra minutes it takes to style someone’s hair. Otherwise, it just feels like poor service. Walking out of the salon with wet hair — not with a fresh-smelling, freshly styled blowout — totally takes away the feeling that you just treated yourself to a little luxury. It feels like you got shortchanged. If it weren’t for Kristi, I would change salons stat just on principle.

My hair stylist is better than yours. Seriously, Jacquelynn Spencer Fitzsimmons, I just call her Jacki, is fantastic. She has been chopping and coloring my long locks since she was in beauty in school.(many many years.) I love that she stays updated on the newest coloring techniques because I am always trying to be ahead of a trend– is always looking out for the best health for my hair(so my crazy ideas do not damage it), and is just a joy to be around. Its hard to find someone who can consistently provide such great cuts, color, service and style! I can’t say enough about her! If you are looking for a better stylist, or are new to the area, I would recommend you give her a call!

I have gone to get a pedicure from Emily twice now and both pedicures have lasted over a month. I will continue to go to her because it is definitely worth the splurge!
