Javas Cyber Esspresso bar is just wonderful. :) It’s this little kiosk inside the library that makes my day brighter. There is a Mike(I think that’s his name…) who is a barista and is fantastic at what he does. I guess he used to work at Starbucks, now he is there. I always ask him to make a caramel macchiato and he makes it WAYBETTER than Starbucks. Talented. I had a Starbucks one the other day and it just wasn’t anywhere near the Java Cyber quality. I’ve had a few other drinks there too, some Milky Way drink and a few lattes. All fabulous. If you are downtown and near the columbus library, then I would suggest stopping by to see what quality coffee tastes like. :)

This coffee-and-stuff stand in the library foyer may look like an addendum to the building put in place because coffee and books implicitly go together, but it’s a fully stocked coffee bar that could actually serve as a destination unto itself if you’re nearby and want to pick up a little bit of historical Columbus vibe with your brew. There are food options for all tastes, from sandwiches to healthful snacks to candy. I tried the oat bar Sean mentioned(small but way filling) and grabbed a pumpkin spice cake for later. As I sat across the hall at one of the little metal tables, I got to see the barista help people not only to coffee and tea but to all kinds of directions around the library, as well. He’s visible even before visitors reach the desk where an actual library employee sits, and I can only imagine he must get hit with all sorts of questions that are outside of his domain. But he remained friendly and helpful throughout. If you’re driving, you can enter the parking garage from Library Park N, along the northern side of the library. The signs for parking, exiting, and going in the correct direction are clear. Get your parking ticket stamped while you’re still in the building — there are machines across from JaVa’s and near the elevators to the parking levels. It’s cheap; I was there for almost two hours and only paid $ 0.50.

About two years ago, this location changed from the Java Master to JaVa’s Cyber Espresso Bar. I used to only visit the downtown branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library rarely, and even when I did, I never really noticed the coffee stand until I started working downtown again, and started going to the library much more often. First and foremost, the staff at this location are really cool — helpful. As far as beverages go, my friends tell me the coffee is very good, and I know first-hand that JaVa’s makes a nice cup of tea. My primary reason for going to this location is the Bobo’s Oat Bars they sell, and restock regularly: original and cinnamon raisin flavor. These bars are made in Colorado and for some reason, I haven’t been able to find them anywhere else in Columbus except for here. Nice! This location has a nice selection of sandwiches, and a few other odds and ends, including desserts — most of which I really can’t eat as a vegan. I think if they started to carry a few more vegan items, I might pick up a quick snack on the way out of the library, as I’m sometimes hungry between work, library and home at the end of the day. Parking is free in the library for the first hour, so you could park, go in and take care of library business, and get a cup of coffee and a snack, all without paying a cent in parking — if you’re somewhat quick. The parking pay machines are across from the café, and there are also seats if you want to hang out and relax. Technically, this business does not provide Wi-Fi, but the library itself offers free Wi-Fi to all patrons. I haven’t used it, but I hear that if you have a library card, you can sign in and use it for free. So it’s like going to Barnes & Noble and reading whatever books and magazines you’d like, without any of the guilt(«This isn’t a library! Oh, wait it is…»), and you can still have a beverage of choice, a snack, dessert and even a sandwich/wrap. The prices are reasonable and, again, you can’t beat the convenience. Yet another great reason to visit the Main Branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library.

I go here every time I go to the main branch, which is about once a week. The staff is always nice and friendly, and if it is not busy we’ll chat briefly, which is always nice. Their choices are good, and their prices seem in line or a touch cheaper then starschmucks. So go here. :)

This is just a hop, skip and a jump away from my office so when I need fresh air and a chance to refuel on caffeine I like to stop here. Rarely will you find a line, the staff is friendly and the drinks are delicious. You won’t find a hip coffee shop vibe, but it’s perfect for grabbing some java while you’re in the Discovery District.

I worked in the building where this is located. They made the best chicken pesto sandwhiches, and pasta salad ever. I ate here two or three times a week because it was convenient and affordable. The staff are funky hipsters. Totally urban, and most looked like students from the Columbus College of Art & Design. The hours pretty much match those of the Main Library downtown. And they serve a mean cup of coffee. Bring your own mug, OR get one to go. As long as its a Java Master mug & clean. They also have great Iced Tea. You can also opt for a cookie, snack size bag of chips, or a soda from their cooler case. I love Java Master!
