Great place and the steak is very good. The waiters are such good salesmen that I almost bought a used car from them too. Seriously, the food was good, the bill was enormous.

I expected more. I ordered a $ 6314oz Aged New York Strip, done medium rare. It came at least cooked medium and smothered with butter. Why would you put butter on a perfectly good piece of aged beef. For medium(or «medium rare») it was charred too much on the outside. Also the bar tender lady was curt and smug. Though the other bar tenders and host were very polite. All-in-all, I expected more from the quality of the meal given the price. I would advise other Unilocalers to try one of the other many quality steakhouses.

The pros really outweigh the cons here, but it’s not perfect. If this was a normal dinner at a normal chain I wouldn’t even bother reviewing. But like most, this was a special occasion and a rare splurge. We had an early reservation and arrived on time; the hostess did not seem to care and informed us she would seat us when she finished what she was working on. Which, from being a hostess in my past life, was just a rotation chart for walk-ins. It wasn’t crucial. Eventually a manager came over and sat us immediately. Our server, if only I could remember her name, was fantastic. Professional but warm is probably the best way to describe her. She made our experience one to remember, without being over the top. The calamari app was good– it was prepared almost Thai style. The bread basket = yummy. Warm pretzel bread! And the butter was seasoned as well. My fiancé and future father-in-law got the dry aged bone-in ribeye and it was a damn dinosaur leg. More than once I heard«best steak I’ve ever had». I had the filet and lobster tail. The lobster was simple, which is ok. The filet? Well, when I go to a fine dining establishment I get excited because I can order my steak black and blue and it will be correct. This wasn’t the case here. At all. There was zero char on the outside, and I know they can char because the ribeyes were. I even asked if they could before I ordered. Also the inside was far from blue. In the middle it was rare, but the outside was closer to medium. I didn’t want to complain in front of everyone so instead I’m doing it here. A little tacky, yes, but more to warn anyone who prepares their steak like I do. It won’t be right. The chef did send out 2 free desserts for my birthday and my MILs Mother’s Day which was a lovely touch. I don’t care for chocolate cake(and it would be so rude to turn down the free gesture) so I took a few bites then ordered some cherry cheesecake to go, and it was amazing a few hours later enjoyed at home on my couch :) As for the sides– typical steakhouse overpriced potatoes and vegetables. But they are good and round out your meal. Definitely no Ruth’s Chris, but unfortunately they are here no more.

Very happy w the meal. It is pricey, so be ready for it. But if your in the mood for a perfect steak this is a great choice. Steak was cooked perfectly«rare with some great char». I’m happy with it. Again, pricey: bone in filet + asparagus + Diet Coke + coffee = $ 76.

We ate here for dinner one week ago and I can’t stop thinking about how great the food was and wondering how long until we go back? I thought my filet had great flavor and was perfectly cooked, but my husband ordered the Australian Wagyu New York Strip and it was 100x better! Incredible flavor, melted in your mouth, bring me another one please! The other surprise of the evening was how much I loved the creamed corn pancetta which I ordered at the recommendation of our waiter! It was delicious and definitely the best side dish we had ordered. And I’m not a fan of seafood, but I tried my mother-in-law’s Chilean Sea Bass and thought that I could order this next time and enjoy it all to myself. We were all blown away by the food! Can’t wait to go back and do it all over again!

This place is pretty fabulous, they’ve got a couple of folks at the bar who really know how to make their drinks. I sat at the bar and ordered a bacon/bleu Cheeseburger and fries. But the overall quality of the beef and flavor was over the top. In my many questions I ask when it comes to a steakhouse, I’ve got the confidence to go back and order a steak as it appears they’re able to make my «Pittsburgh» as in talking with their manager they’ve got a 1800deg broiler and a professional using it. The prices are consistent with high-end steak houses so it shouldn’t be a shocker to the adventurous foodie.

In my opinion, this is definitely the best Hyde Park Steakhouse in town. It may well be the best steakhouse in the greater Columbus area, and that’s saying something given all the great steakhouses we have in this town. The ambience, the service, and the food are all exceptional. Went there tonight for the restaurant week special. Great three course dinner for the price. Lobster bisque or salad, a couple of steak or chicken/fish option, and a couple of dessert options. My son, wife, and I tried one of a different combination, and all were very good. However, to really experience this restaurant, try one of their dry aged prime steaks. My favorite is the bone-in Ribeye, cooked medium rare, which is a 26oz steak which comes out just perfect with the right amount of marbling. My wife’s favorite is the 8 or 10oz filet(I prefer the bone-in filet, if I’m i the mood for filet here). The oysters are fabulous here, and their lobster mashed potato is unexpectedly good. The key is to make sure to not fill up on the bread or appetizers, as the main course really is exceptional. The ambience is formal, yet festive and inviting. It feels upscale because it is. The service is great. I’ve never experienced poor or even average service here. Unlike some of the other steakhouses, the staff at this location is great. Very friendly, extremely helpful, and professional. This is an expensive restaurant. Unless there is a special going on, expect to spend close to at least $ 200 for a couple, and closer to $ 300 with wine and appetizers, but the overall experience is more than worth it!

Got cocktail shrimp as an appetizer amazing, shaved wagyu beef even better. Then Australian Wagyu New York strip for dinner. It was prepared well but I could have used more seasoning, would have like heavier peppers. Also had a Caesar side salad which was incredible. Server was very sharp. Very nice area and atmosphere. Great place for a business dinner.

Great steakhouse. Must try: French Onion soup, any of their steaks prepared perfectly.(ribeye — Pitt style) They have house bottle of red that is a great value and tastes fantastic. Service was above and beyond, even for a high end steakhouse.

I’ll start off with the bad then the good. We had reservations got seated didn’t get help for 20 – 25 minutes yes we sat their wondering wth ! Then someone showed up that was not even our waitress(thank you kind older Asian lady) once we expressed our discontent service got better. They offered free seafood platter it was actually good. They covered our soup and dessert. It was also very good. We had steaks(filet minion) excellent quality. Au gratin potatoes amazing. Wine 2 bottles of rendition very good for 50 $ bottle. Dessert cheesecake, key lime pie. Both very good. Overall experience good they pulled themselves out of the hole which they started. $$

Yowzers. Came here for some innocent happy hour cocktails and snacks with my hubby and walked out with the largest dinner bill in history. All worth it, but that won’t happen again for some time if we want to continue to have a roof over our heads. Haha… We had a gift card to come here so we thought we’ll just go early and order a few things and leave. Well, we talked ourselves into being seated for dinner when happy hour was over and ordered steaks, sides, and a bottle of wine. Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was excellent. The steak was like butter and the wine was paired perfectly. We ate, drank, and were treated like kings. However, beware that the happy hour cocktails there cloud your perfectly good judgment and intentions after consuming two. If you are on a budget, stick to happy hour and don’t let anyone you are with talk you into having dinner! :)

Pretty good steakhouse but very expensive, as most steakhouses are. Started out with the seafood tower appetizer and it was pretty good not great. Had oysters, clams, shrimp and crab legs on it. Cocktail sauce lacked the horseradish flavor but was okay, seafood was fresh. Followed it up with the rib eye steak, cooked medium rare with a side of creamed spinach. Steak was cooked perfectly but the spinach was too salty. I like reasonable salt so takes a lot for me to say something is too salty. Had 2 martinis with dinner and they were prepared good. For 3 of us the bill was over 300 so it is rather pricey. If I was in the area and craving a steak I would go again just wouldn’t go out of my way.

What I ate: Caesar Salad — 3 stars It was okay, but it lacked flavor(I had to add lemon juice). The big loser was that the croutons were soft. Not sure if they were old or just not prepared properly. Regardless, that’s unacceptable at this price range. The server’s response was that the chef was still working on the recipe because they have only been making them in house for 6 months. Hmmm. Petite Filet Mignon($ 44) — The first steak came out about 5 minutes after I received the salad. The server immediately replaced that steak with a newly cooked at the proper timing without me even having to make a comment. Excellent save. The steak was a total 5 star — delicate, succulent, divine, perfectly cooked.

The food at this particular Hyde Park steakhouse is pretty good. The service is also pretty good. Its location at the junction of the Short North and downtown is prime. The interior décor is top notch. So is it worth the steep price? I suppose that depends on what you’re looking for in a restaurant. If you’re looking to impress a client or a date or something, this restaurant will get the job done. If you judge Hyde Park solely on the quality of the food though, I’d say it’s middle of the road among their similarly priced prime steakhouse crowd. Thus the 3-star review. We dined here on 5÷7÷15 for a work related dinner. We were seated in one of the private dining rooms towards the back of the restaurant, but walking through the restaurant to get to the private room, I did take notice of the elegantly designed dining room full of affluent looking businessmen in suits.(Note: Do not come here wearing jeans and t-shirts or you’ll look out of place.) I started with a glass of Sam Adams Summer Ale, while my coworker got a glass of Columbus Brewing Company IPA. Sadly, these are the only 2 draft beers they had that night. Our server told me that they also have«whatever bottled beer you can think of,» but I didn’t bother asking him since I’m pretty sure I could’ve named 10 different bottled beers that he didn’t actually have on hand. Or maybe I should’ve asked for a bottle of Brooklyn Sorachi Ace on the off chance that they actually had it in stock, since the Sam Adams beer was pretty weak. Our table of 5 was then served jumbo shrimp cocktails(excellent), spicy spring rolls(pretty good), and chicken satay for appetizer. The chicken satay was disappointing, since the chicken itself was unseasoned, and was entirely dependent upon the teriyaki sauce that came on the side for flavoring. And correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought chicken satay usually comes with peanut sauce and not teriyaki sauce? We had the wedge salad next, which I thought was a bit skimpy on the dressing and toppings compared to other steakhouses. For my entrée, I got the 14oz New York Strip Steak. It was cooked medium rare, just like I ordered it. It was also very tender. However, there was a complete lack of marbling in the meat, there was close to no char on the surface of the steak, and I could barely discern the flavor of the meat itself since they poured so much melted butter on top of it. Since it’s a prime steakhouse, I assumed the meat would be USDA Prime grade, but now that I think about it, this steak was not advertised on the menu to be prime grade beef, so for all I know, it could’ve been the same USDA Choice grade beef that I could get at Sam’s Club for $ 9.99/lb. On hindsight, I wish I’d had their dry aged steak instead. I’m admittedly being picky here. I’m a bit of steak snob. Most people will enjoy the steak here. I’ll reserve my 4 and 5 star review for steaks that blow me away however, like Ruth Chris’ 11oz «petit» filet, Smith & Wollensky’s 48oz Porterhouse, or Ocean Club’s NY Strip. Also, looking at their sample menu online, I see that they also serve Japanese wagyu steak from the«Miyzacki Kagoshima region». Miyazaki is a Japanese prefecture adjacent to Kagoshima prefecture. So I’m guessing they mean wagyu steak from the Miyazaki/Kagoshima region. A quick search on Google Maps would’ve informed them of their mistake. I wouldn’t pay extra for live Mein lobsters or Flo Rida stone crabs, so you might want to watch out when you’re ordering Miyzacki beef. Could be the real deal or it could be a Chinese knockoff. For dessert I had their cheesecake, which was good, but once again, nothing special. It didn’t even look special. Just a red cherry-like sauce on top. So overall, it was a good dinner. If I wasn’t a foodie who’s especially picky about his steaks, it may have even been a great dinner. But for the price of a typical meal at this restaurant, I think I should’ve been more wowed.

Wednesday night meet your match. This is one of the few places that can make a Pittsburgh black, and make it so well that even with a bone in 16 oz T-Rex portioned filet minion of meat was very aptly devoured by a tiny person like myself with a hunger for more. The flavor profile was phenomenal, and great to try. They can mix and match any meat preparation with your choice cut of meat if you want to try the above or their other delicious meaty fare in a certain style. Their oysters are amazing as well, coming from the coast, they were probably as clean and fresh as a typical coast fare – which is highly impressive. None of that excessive briny flavor that builds up with time. Ask for Jeremy or Paul if you can, they really take care of their customers well.

Amazing service, happy stomach! The ahi tuna appetizer is delicious, and the filet mignon is YUM. I got multiple drinks, and every single one was awesome, but the Moscow mule is definitely the best choice! Brussels were okay, and the lobster Mac is also good, but the steak definitely took the cake! Speaking of cake, the cheesecake was also darn dreamy.

I’m going to try, despite my usual tendencies, to make this a short review, because dining there definitely took up enough of my time. We went here before a family reunion on my father-in-law’s side, as we’d decided to stay the night before in Columbus. Shout out to Columbus though, what a cool little city! We also went here because my youngest brother-in-law ‘wanted steak’ and so — we went to get steak. On a side note: I am not a fan of steak but most decent steak houses will have plenty of other fair(fish, interesting soups, etc) so I didn’t mind. Also, I’m from Texas and a family of steak-loving carnivores, so I know a good steak when I taste one. Being the only night in the city though, it wouldn’t have been my first pick, but I could see tension mounting when trying to make a decision on where to eat, and was trying to be the friendly, easy to get along with daughter in law I typically aim to be. That said, the review: The building and the one across the street from it are of the same architectural style and are lovely. The entryway is understated elegance, and I loved the light fixture above the host stand. Furthermore, all the carpeting, chairs, and booths are red — which is my favorite color and made it a pleasant environment in which to endure dinner. Also, the ‘Mer Soleil’ Silver un-oaked Chardonnay was absolutely delicious. It was complex, fruity and refreshing all at once. What a lovely wine to sip! Another highlight was the pretzel bread — which was doughy, flavorful, and just lovely.(I only had half a piece though, as to not ruin my dinner review). However, a restaurant cannot, and of course should not, rely on its Sommelier, baker, and interior designer to deliver the entire experience… and yet it seems that Hyde Park does just that. I guess by slapping on a high price tag next to each entry, and having a kitschy system of ‘how we cook our steaks’(as well as fresh vs aged vs wagyu) and ‘three(or four?) options of sauces and prep’ delivered in a pompous speech by a waiter who was more interested in delivering said speech than listening to us was supposed to make us feel like we were really getting a special treat… And judging by the reviews on here, it seems a lot of people have been fooled rather well. So I lied when I said I’d make this short. Now to the main event: My mother-in-law ordered the scallops with shrimp in a lemon butter sauce she insisted on sharing with me. I was down for that, as I had contemplated ordering it as well. Wow, it had maybe one flavor note of singular, over-used spice, and that was it. The scallops, also, were rubbery and thus overcooked. My husband ordered the sea bass, which came as an enormous steak, and he had ordered it in the charred preparation. Thankfully, as it was huge, at least this left the interior moist and fresh-tasting. This was possibly the only thing at the table that tasted fresh. The main complaint here? They used far too much butter on top of the charred prep and ruined the dish, IMO. His 20 year old brother got the lobster bisque for a starter which, according to him, was ‘great!’ My husband tasted it and merely, slyly shook his head at me with a frown. I also tasted his brother’s steak, which while decidedly full of steak flavor, was nothing to write home about. And since home is Texas, I wouldn’t write home about it if you had a gun to my head. And what did I get, you ask? I got the chilled shellfish platter, which meant oysters, lobster, some crab legs, and shrimp. We were all shocked at how rubbery the lobster was, and how little there was. I honest to God left lobster on that platter! My husband’s dad sadly said, «this lobster was overcooked and waiting.» The shrimp were also disappointing, bland, soggy, you name it. The one oyster I did eat still had shell left inside from shucking. The only decent things on that platter were the crab legs, which are typically my favorite anyway, but the amount of meat in them was spare, less sweet than normal, and a bit too frozen to have been served, as well as being a pain to retrieve from the shell. (With the amount we paid, this should never have been the case). Even my father in law shook his head sadly at his grouper covered in Oscar sauce. That is, before returning to his hotel to find he’d had an allergic reaction to it. (Not that that’s the restaurant’s fault.) Final thoughts: At least the décor is pretty, the Mer Soleil fantastic, and the pretzel rolls tasty. I say, go for the wine and the pretzel bread and then just leave, leave and go have dinner elsewhere.(Perhaps Marcella’s down the street?) Thanks but no thanks, HP. Or, hey — kudos for tricking people into thinking they’re getting a bang for their many bucks. You cheeky buggers.
