Being a Hilton Honors member for over 20 years I can honestly say that this place needs some major intervention. To start off when we walked in to check in there was no one behind the front desk. After waiting for over 10 minutes a woman appeared and seemed very put out having to do her job. Never apologized for the wait nor did she thank me for being a Hilton Honors member. In fact she answered the phone and was even more rude to the person on the other end. No attention to detail from any of the staff. If she would have taken the time to look in the remarks in my account she would’ve read that I always request a room on a high floor and away from an elevator. Nope I guess that would actually have involved doing her job. She not only gave me a first floor room next to the elevator it was also next to the kitchen. But this was just the beginning. When I opened the curtains to the bedroom window I was welcomed with the view of a block wall complete with weeds and beer cans. There was more hair on the bathroom floor than on my head. When I went to make up the foldout bed for my son it had no sheets and a huge white stain on the bed which your guess is as good as mine. The breakfast was subpar with the staff as rude as all the others. Save your money and stay at the Embassy Suites right next door.

Our family stayed here July 2014 and we would definitely stay here again. Homewood staff were pleasant and friendly, and our room was spacious and clean. For the price we also got an amazing complimentary breakfast with amazingly fresh coffee, waffles, and other healthy options such as scrambled eggs, fruit, and yogurt. For our next trip to Columbus we would definitely stay here again.

My stay at the Homewood suites could only be described as «A Series of Unfortunate Events». I’m a reasonable guy who understands that bad luck happens to the best of us. Unfortunately, the manager of the hotel turned my experience into what could only be described as a nightmare. If they had worked with us to resolve the issues we had, I would wholeheartedly recommend them. They didn’t resolve our complaints, however, which is why I will not be recommending them in this review. I chose to stay at Homewood suites because one of my friends was a diamond club member, which got us a few extra free perks. My girlfriend and I were in Columbus for one of her dance competitions, and we didn’t mind spending a little extra money to enjoy some extra luxury during a stressful weekend. We arrived three hours before our check-in time, and I really appreciated the staff bending the rules a bit to get us into a room early. My girlfriend and I requested a non-smoking room, so we were more than a little bit surprised when we opened the door to our suite to find it reeking of cigarettes. The windows were filmed over with smoke residue, and the smell would have made it impossible for us to sleep. Although we were running late for my girlfriend’s dance competition, I stopped by the front desk to ask if they could possibly move us to a non-smoking room. The front desk apologized for the mixup, and assured us that we would be given a non-smoking room. Apparently they had just changed computer systems the night before, so things were a bit chaotic. I wouldn’t imagine this would be an issue for anyone now, since they’ve probably worked all of the bugs out of that system. In any case, we were given another room and we quickly moved our things over before running out to the competition. We got back to the room late at night and very tired, only to pull the sheets back and find a blood stain on one of them. I’m not a squeamish guy, so I just asked for a fresh set of linens so that I could change the sheets myself. The manager was very apologetic and assured me he would take care of it immediately. He offered us the jacuzzi suite for the night, and also offered to comp that night for us. I appreciated the gesture and happily accepted the room. They promised us that they would take care of the other room for us and that we would have it back the next day. We had to leave early the next morning for more dance competitions, and the manager assured us that our original room(not the smoke smelling room, the one after that) would be cleaned and ready for us. We arrived back from the dance competition in the early afternoon, only to find that our room hadn’t been touched. The same, bloody(literally) sheets were still on the bed and there was no sign that anyone had even gone in the room to address the problem. I was getting pretty angry at this point, given that we’d changed room 3 times in 24 hours at that point. The manager(whose name is Bobby) began to give me all sorts of excuses for why the sheets hadn’t been changed. He stated that they weren’t allowed to enter rooms before noon, just in case the room’s occupants were still sleeping. While I agree that this is overall a good policy, it didn’t make any sense to me in this instance because the manager himself had moved us to a different room for the night. He moved us to a different suite for the express purpose of having the room empty overnight to change the sheets. As you can probably imagine, I was definitely less than amused by this turn of events. The manager didn’t have much to say other than apologizing whenever I said anything. I called the Hilton corporate line to tell them about the poor service at this hotel, so that someone with some clout could hopefully address these problems for us. I was informed that Hilton policy is to address the complaint to the best of their ability, and to then comp the stay if the customer is still unsatisfied. I don’t feel they addressed my complaint to the best of their ability, but they did comp us for the rest of our stay. I understand that things happen, computer systems cause havoc, housekeepers bleed, and people smoke in rooms that they aren’t supposed to smoke in. I understand that bad luck can make all of these problems happen to one couple over one weekend. I can accept all of those problems because I understand that bad luck strikes at the worst of times… what I cannot accept, however, is the management’s refusal to acknowledge that anything had gone wrong. I’m not angry that we were put in a smoker’s room, or that there was blood on our sheets. I’m angry that the manager(Bobby) didn’t make an effort to change the sheets in our room while we were out of it. I’m angry that instead of having our complaints addressed promptly, we were instead given free rooms on the assumption that that would somehow compensate for all of the trouble we had to go through, on what should have been an enjoyable weekend

As a frequent traveler to Columbus OH, I have stayed at Homewood Suites on about 10 occasions. This hotel is just a few minutes from the airport, and the rooms have always meet my expectations. This hotel caters to business travelers, and so you can count on a quiet atmosphere. They have free breakfast and dinner — and by that I mean hot food. Dinner also offers free wine/beer. Rooms are nice, clean, and offer distinct living/sleeping areas. Smoking rooms are also available. There is an indoor pool(I have never used it). I am able to get a corporate rate of $ 109/night when traveling on business… not sure what the regular rate is. But, if you are looking for a nice hotel, that is quiet, clean, and safe… you really cannot do any better than Homewood Suites.

When I have to be away from home, I want to stay in a place that is comfortable, secure, has amenities like evening snacks and drinks, work out areas, a spa and breakfast. These are the reasons that I choose to stay at Homewood suites.
